I'd make it about the first one, but I haven't played it. ^__^;
I have a GCN, so naturally it's the version with Link. I usually play as either him or Sophitia. I'm pretty sure this is the only fighting game that I don't get absolutely killed at.... >_>;;
Anyone else like to play it?

XD!!! Mazz will do doubt pop his head in here shortly. Its a really good game. I like it. Who do I play with...Raphael probably the most. Talims cool too. Its so much fun eh. I like the whole guard impact idea. As opposed to the normal block block attack rule. Which brings me to my next fun thing...Guard impact wars. Happens to me and Mazz a lot. *Paching! Paching! Paching!* Until one person times it incorrectly. Thats fun. What else...yeah. Overall...I'd say 7 out of 10

Ahhh, gaurd impact wars... my brother and I have done that a few times. He usually plays as... hmm... Yoshimitsu, Mitsurugi, or Raphael.
Occasionally I just like to use Link + the Biggeron Sword and wreak unholy havoc... wahahahahahahaa.....

AHHHHH SOUL CALIBUR 2. BRILLIANT GAME.
*has PS2 version. Got plastered with Heihachi. Darnit. We coulda done with Kazuya instead.*
I haven't played the game in a while, but it's a great game. But yes, the best part about the game is GI wars. Getting into the opponent's mind and thinking "when are they going to guard impact me back? That's when I don't attack.". Battles between Sorien and I are... quite tense.
Who do I pick? That great big question mark at the bottom of the screen. Lol. I'm adept with most people (some more than others) enough to be able to pick random. If I were to make a choice... aieeee... Mitsurugi, Taki, Cervantes, Nightmare, Raphael, Seung Mina, or Sophitia.
I'm also madly in love with Ivy because she's just the ultimate character: long-range or short, about ELEVEN different unblockable moves, and on top of that, she has the game's TWO MOST POWERFUL moves: Summon Suffering and Calamity Symphony. Combined with her 'lick' and her... uhh... misplaced-stomach-kick... she's great. XD
If I'm feeling particularly nasty, I pick Voldo -- most likely my favourite character, sharing the top spot with Miss Valentine. He's just so, unpredictable... I've learned to control that unpredictability, while still making his moves seem somewhat hard to follow. Admittedly, having not played in a while, I've lost some of my unpredictable edge... but I'm still good with him.
Overall I'm tempted to give this game 9/10. Like, 9.3/10 or something. It's my favourite fighting game (it doesn't beat Tekken 3/Tekken Tag Tournament by much though. That gets 9.0/10). The PS2 version, while Heihachi is the ideal character choice, I would've preferred Kazuya or Jin. VERY cool game. ^___^

Yeah, inclined to agree with Mazz here. Kazuya would have been the man for the job...but Heihachi is more the correct choice. Yes. Voldo. OMG the first 90 times or so XD, I played Mazz with Voldo, his moves were TOTALLY unpredictable...which I got OWNED in. That was annoying. So yes. That works. I usually like to use Cervantes as well. Hes the man. I have this cool combo I use...which can be annoying...but then theres Mazz and his Ivy combo...gawd thats annoying

Cervantes is cool.
Actually IF Maz's fighting style is based a little around Cervantes. Handguard Form II, that is. Not Form I. And Maz doesn't get the funky pistol-blade thing. Self Destruction/Cannonball is a lovely move. Plus I think Cervantes has one of the best weapons in the game: the Falchion. Increases attack and defense, while sacrificing little else... he's great.
Sophitia's cool (apart from perhaps her gravity-defying skirt o____O). She just... lacks a good weapon, I'm afraid. I'm good with most of the characters from the original Soul Edge/Soul Blade... which are Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Taki, Cervantes/Souledge, and to some extent Assassin (he uses the same fighting style and same moves of one of the original characters, which leads me to believe that he IS the original character, just wearing masks and stuff). In Soul Edge, I was never really good with Voldo. Now I pull monkey stunts off the walls and when they least expect it -- although they're starting to -- I blow up. Wahaha.
Hmmm. I suppose one of the flaws in this game is the Weapon Master Mode. Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea... and it was implemented well. But it didn't seem as fun... the battles didn't seem to last as long as in Soul Edge. Perhaps I've just gotten better though... XD
IVY COMBO RULES. *spins around, docks Sorien in the legs, trips him up, While he's in mid-air, sword latches out, grabs him and smashes him into ground. Sorien got LICKED. XD*

Yeah. Thats the combo I was talking about. He ABUSES that combo...to good use though. I can see it so vividly too...*grunt*. I also like Cervantes cos his weapons are named after Latin things...and ESPECIALLY cos he has the Phlegethon. Even though he makes it look...not so good. Never mind. I never played the first game. So I can't say anything about that. However in regards to Weapon Master mode. Yeah didn't last long at all did it. Well...at least you did have to do that in order to get weapons and such...unlike some games...*Cough singstar cough* In which you already have everything and there is no drive to make you play.

I'm getting the feeling you guys would kill me if I were ever to play either of you....
I'm only a vaguely adept gamer, so I pretty much only button mash 75% of the time. I'm trying to get better at that, but I have issues remembering combos and the like. It's one of my birth defects. XD

Perhaps. Depends what version we played. I'm sure you'd cane at GC version, because I'd have to get used to the controls and wonder why my block button unleashes a deadly groin kick instead. XD
Combos just take practice. One can attain a wealth of knowledge on the battlefield, challenging opponents... but true mastery comes in the practice mode afterwards.
Button mash, hmm? Pick Maxi. XD

YES! Maxis a thingy for that eh...thats really annoying. Theres one other too...I forget. But yeah. Combos just take practise. And when you play against the computer quite a bit, you learn what works on it, and then often against another player you'll find you can do somethings that you did on the computer, and somethings you can't. Its just practise.

Well. Maxi is the button bashing character, him and his nunchucks Its bloody annoying. No skill required.

Unfortunately, skill is required to beat a button basher armed with Maxi. That or Seung Mina's 20-foot long pole of doom. XD
I've recently played Weapon Master Mode from the beginning again. And it is so. Amazingly. Basic. XD When I first started out, I was okay. It'd been a while since I played Soul Blade, so I was a bit rusty. I lost a fair few times trying to get through WMM.
Now, it's like. Pick my three/four strongest characters... I ripped through it all in just over an hour. I felt so.... powerful. XD

Yeah. Maxis moves are almost as unpredictable as Voldos, and when the person whose using him doesn't even know what hes doing...it makes things difficult. Unless of course, like you said. You have Kilik or Seung Mina.

So. Uh. All two of you in this conversation... what are your favourite weapons? (which in a way also links to what are your favourite characters, I guess. Hmmm.)
