Okay. I've just seen the controller for this baby. And all I have to say is.
SONY AND MICROSOFT CAN GO AND GET STUFFED!!!!
lol
I highly respect Nintendo for their innovative skills. Sure, Sony and Microsoft have some great products. I do have to say I am looking forward to Metal Gear Solid 4 (the one reason I will buy a PS3)... GT5... a new Final Fantasy... and possibly Killzone 2.... but... they don't offer too much of anything new. Although, the EyeToy was a brilliant idea.
But I think this time 'round, Nintendo have hit the nail on the head (again). I'm seriously looking forward to the Revolution and it's capabilities. I mean, ooh wow, awesome graphics (offered by X-Box and PS3). Big whoop. Awesome graphics are good... but it's not all. Sometimes it's just... whacked out creativity that provides awesome entertainment. And Nintendo are full of creativity. The Revolution will definitely appeal to everyone, not just the hardcore gamers -- I can seriously see my sister or father picking up the Revolution controller and playing games with it!
Fantastic job, Nintendo. If only you were getting Metal Gear Solid 4... XD

I think the thing that's going to take getting used to about it is the transmitter at the top of it. Rasengan, have you seen any videos for it yet?
The innovation of the controller is not the fact that it's a remote or that... but the fact that the transmitter at the top picks up information about the controller's position in regards to the Revolution console. For example it picks up which way the controller's facing, how far away from the console the controller is, twisting and turning it, sharp movements... stuff like that. Therefore, you can simulate movements, such as throwing a frisbee, using a fishing rod... or even pointing and shooting: so you could use it for FPS games, where the joystick (which you attach at the bottom as you can see in the pic) can govern movement, and you can point and shoot using the controller.
You can even use multiple controllers (of course) for multi-player action or other games. I saw this one clip of a guy holding two Revolution controllers, and he was playing DRUMS, wielding his two controllers like drum sticks!
It was also said that you can turn the controller sideways and use it like a classic NES controller (D-pad on the left, A and B buttons on the right), so for those who are a tad uncomfortable and find it a bit weird to get used to, there'll be games allowing you to do that. And assumably, the connection at the bottom of it will allow you to plug other adapters into it to allow you to use, say, SNES or GC controllers and stuff. So it has wide functionality too.
The only possible thing I'd be worried about would be accidentally hitting the power button at the top of it (which turns off the Revolution -- just like a TV remote). However, of course, if the Revolution implements a time-hold feature, for instance... you have to hold it for 5 seconds to turn the Revolution off... it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

Yeah, I just watched the clip (after I posted here) and now that I saw how they actually use it, it doesn't seem all that bad. I mean sure, it will take a while to get used to this change but I think if you can master it it'll end up being loads of fun.....I gotta get that green one XD

Yeah. So much is possible. I mean, can you imagine how golfing sims could possibly be on the Revolution? You could use the controller as a golf club! That'd be WHACKED.
