"Time for bed!" "OK! *stays on for as long as I can get away with*"
~Every school night. Lol. What's annoying is when she's like "COME HERE NOW!" if something's happening she wants me to see, and I can't even say "brb" or put up an away message or anything...

Yeah, they don't seem to understand that it's like putting down the phone and walking away without saying you're going, or just walking away from someone in the middle of a conversation.
WOO! I'm up to 400 now! And this is my THIRD non-Naruto "100" post! Lol!

My friend recently acquired himself a copy of Fable and an X-Box (only to find out that he could've gotten it cheaper somewhere else if he'd waited a week). I have yet to get my hands on it (but then I don't have an X-Box).... but as said, I haven't heard any bad things about this game. So I'm looking forward to borrowing it (for a week or two XD)...
PLUS! It was made by Peter Molyneux!! Creator of Black and White, baby! (and Populous!... now THERE'S a trip back in time! XDXD!)

Okay, I had a quick go at Fable yesterday... and to be honest, I wasn't too impressed. Had a LAN party at my place, and my mate brought his X-Box over, and loaded up Fable... and to be honest, I didn't think it was that great. In saying so, he committed the ultimate sin: loaded his save at the end of the game, when he had all the spells, weapons, clothes and stuff like that... and then went through and said everything that means something to the story (like what happens during the final battle and everything)... plus also showed us his character which went through and killed zombies in a single slash... which actually made the game seem boring. Plus he went through and spoiled the majority of the game, so it's like... oh. I have no real reason to play it now.
After he finally agreed to start the game from the beginning (he refused to because it'd take too long to get anywhere in the game... which doesn't matter. It would be like making a game demo of the last level in the game.)... I found the game was alright, but because he'd already gone through the majority of the story (to which we all said "You realise this means absolutely nothing to us? We want to see the GAME. Start from the beginning!" LOL), I felt like it wasn't going to be so great anymore.
In a story-unrelated mood, however... the game seems okay. The graphics, in my opinion, aren't very good. Seeing what Final Fantasy X was like on PS2, I would've expected something more on a console more than twice as powerful. That's not to say the graphics are BAD... the art style is different from what I'm used to: characters seem to be a half-realistic, half-cartoon hybrid... with oversized heads and feet. The mouth movements weren't very good, either. Though it MOSTLY was in time to what they were saying, it didn't actually LOOK like they said what they were saying. Plus, trees looked flat, and looked like cut-outs blowing in the wind instead of bushes with leaves.
The soundtrack seemed fine, though. The background music goes unnoticed, and generally seems to fit nicely. Of the few cutscenes (which used the game engine... haven't yet seen any FMVs) I saw, the music went along with what was taking place... so at the least, the game has an alright soundtrack.
The voice acting is half-decent. Some of the voices are annoying... but they have very distinct accents and stuff. And so far (after an hour of gaming)... we have another one of those games where the main character never talks. Bummer.
The gameplay, however, slightly makes up for it. The controls are quite fluid, and from a technical perspective, the little additions, like the guards (police) slowly beginning to recognise you as you commit more acts of troublemaking (yeah. I couldn't help it. So I wanted to go whack some husband for cheating on his wife and kick some chickens. Lol.) were kinda nifty.
I reckon if it weren't for the fact that I now know what happens in the end... Fable might've been an awesome game in my eyes. Also, seeing all the spells in their full splendour before anything else... as opposed to starting off with a crappy little spell and building it up to something huge... detracted majorly from the gameplay. Ideally, it would've been nice to see a demo of the game, instead of seeing the end of the game. Craphead.
Mate's personality reminds me a lot of Naruto's... actually... lol

TRIPLE POSTING. WOOHOOO!!!
lol
Anyways, an update... I finally got my hands on my mate's X-Box, and along with Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball... Fable has been my game of choice thus far. Mainly because I started a game and want to finish it.
It's not too bad, actually. It deservedly gets the award for Most Over-rated Game of 2004... but it's not that bad. Most of the things that were meant to be in this game didn't make it in... such as kids, trees growing as time went past. The game feels slightly unfinished. And there are a few random things. For example, you age pretty quickly, but the other people don't age. So say, you go from 23 to age 42. The people who were kids when you were 23 will still be kids at age 42. Bummer.
And also, the whole concept of you aging quickly didn't turn out well. You're SUPPOSED to have aged slowly through the game... but at the beginning, you start out a kid. At one point, you're asked "Would you like to continue?", and you press a button. Within two seconds you're a teenager. Next time, you're an adult. The heck?
Cuts and scars are annoying. My face has been slashed once or twice, but you can't tell because my character's so old he's got many a wrinkle to hide it. XD I've also got a massive scar down my chest... lol
The alignment idea was okay though. Here's a hint to those playing Fable for the first time: treat it like the real world, and not like Final Fantasy. In Final Fantasy, you run around houses and if there's a chest you open it, right? Don't do that in Fable. Don't run into someone's house and look in their cupboards. In fact, sometimes, don't even run into someone's house. I've had a fine or two for trespassing (the Apologize Expression is good for that)... and one time when I examined a cupboard in someone else's house (when I was a n00b at the game), someone said "HEY! HE'S STEALING!" and ran off to tell the guards. Cue Apologize Expression. lol
Attractiveness is really funny. One time I was so hot, whenever I walked down the street, all the girls were like "I WANT HIM!" and almost fell in love with me. It just took a little more flirting and they were like "MARRY ME". lol. And there was this other time when I walked into what looked like a school... and the teacher (who's a GUY) was like, pretty much falling for me. He had this heart over his head, and I hadn't even said hello yet. I must be really sexy. LOL
The combat system isn't too bad. Sure, it's just your average adventure game hack up... but I like the experience system. There are four types of experience you can collect:
- Strength Experience, gained when you attack monsters using your sword or fists - Skill Experience, gained when you attack monsters using your bow - Will Experience, gained when you use spells - General Experience, gained when you kill monsters.
You can use these different types of experience to buff up certain parts of you... for instance, you can use Strength Experience to level up your strength (when you run out of Str EXP, you then use up your General EXP), while using your Will Experience to learn a new spell (likewise, when you run out of Will Experience, you use up your General EXP).
The biggest experience addition I like though is the Combat Multiplier. Every time you connect with an attack, it adds to your combat multiplier. Hit an enemy enough times without getting hit and you can multiply the experience you get by 2. Or 3. Or 4... see how long you can go without getting hit! When you get hit, it drops your combat multiplier down to the last 5 (so, if you have 8x, and get hit, it drops it down to 5x. Get hit at 3x and it disposes of it completely). I think it's a great system, because it means that if you're skilled, gaining experience won't be too much of a problem. I've had my combat multiplier up to about 40x before... so for every monster I kill, essentially I get the experience for killing 40 of them. SWEET. XD
But yeah. Fable's not too bad. Graphics-wise, it doesn't compare to Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball... ^__^
(WELL IT DOESN'T. I'm not talking about girls. I'm talking about the subtle things, like, reflections off the water. And awesome looking beaches. As opposed to what looks like a storybook with oversized heads or something.)
So yeah. I'd probably give Fable an 8/10 for the moment... give it less when I've finished the game. lol
