Yonemura Kotone sat silently by the window in one of the empty classrooms at the Academy, her feet propped up nonchalantly on the chair next to her. Gloved fingers drummed against the dark, wooden desktop to her left as the young Jounin gazed about the room, reminiscing about her days a genin. This was the room she had met her team in as a genin, and thought it only suitable to make it the first meeting spot for her very own genin team. The memories that had been replaying over and over in her mind for the last several minutes quickly faded as the first-time Jounin sensei began thinking about the three young genin she was about to take under her wing. She had been rather intrigued by their current records, and slightly confused as to why one of them had been teamless for so long. But no matter, she knew that this was going to be an interesting and exciting experience. A smile slowly began to spread across her face as she ran a hand through her bushy, light brown hair. It was going to be a great day! OoC: Pardon the corny thread title. ^^;

Today was a very exciting day for Takamura Hitomi. Having been the odd one out for so long, after two years, she had become rather accustomed to working on her own, despite being allowed to tag along with other teams on occasion and even accompanying her brothers on lower-ranking missions, Hitomi knew that being on a team of her own would take some adjustment. Still, she thought, it was the only way she would advance in the Shinobi world - and maybe she would have some new friends. She had drawn in on herself since that incident back in the Academy, and she didn't think she could bear having teammates who would look down on her because of her vision. There was only one way to thought, though, she reflected, pausing outside the classroom door to straighten her clothes and tuck a stray bit of hair behind her ear, and that was to take the plunge. Takamura Hitomi, the odd one out no longer, took a deep breath, steadied herself, and knocked on the door.

Kotone was slightly startled by a sudden knock at the door, but quickly regained her composure. "Come on in!" she called, the smile returning to her face.

Feeling very relieved that the voice she heard sounded friendly, Hitomi put on a rare smile as she opened the door. She was quite surprised when her gaze met that of a woman even shorter than she, if only by a couple inches. But height mattered little to a Jounin, Hitomi was quick to remind herself, snapping back to reality. "You must be my Sensei," the Genin said politely with an elegant bow. "My name is Takamura Hitomi. Hajimeshimashite."

"Likewise," began the light-haired Jounin, "I'm Yonemura Kotone, and as you've already guessed... I'm your sensei." She smiled warmly at the girl before motioning her over to the desks. "Please, take a seat. It shouldn't be long before the others get here."

Hitomi nodded, trying not to stare at Kotone-sensei. Even in a world veiled in shades of gray, she was a very pretty woman - a woman who, Hitomi knew, would be one of the most important people she would ever knew. Slipping easily into a seat, Hitomi waited patiently for the rest of the team to arrive.

Kuroshiro Teruo was fairly certain that he had never been so nervous in his life; at least, he was almost positive that was the proper name for the overwhelming sensation he felt washing over him. It was mingled with something else, though, something that he easily recognized as happiness. Excitement, too. He wondered if his new team would like him. Would he like them? Would they think he was weird, just like everyone else? Teruo really hoped they would all get along. It took the boy a moment to realize that he had been standing, staring blankly into a mirror as he assessed his emotional and mental situation. Reaching to run a hand through his dual-colored hair--black on one side, white on the other--he sighed. Pure white eyes (minus a black ring in the middle of the iris) darted around the room, searching, before falling on the forehead protector he had left lying on his bed. His grandfather had helped him modify it to suit his style, turning it into a studded belt of sorts with pyramid spikes over the bolts. Reaching for it, he tied it around his waist. "Teru-kun!" he heard his grandmother calling from the other room. "Teru-kun! Mou~, don't tell me you got distracted! Hurry up, you're going to be late!" "I know, 'baachan!" he shouted in response, patting his pockets a few times, his mind running through a list of what he would need. Satisfied that he had everything, the boy turned to make his way down the hall, the chains on his pants clinking with each heavy footfall. The thoughts racing through his mind fell silent, lulled into tranquility by the rhythm of his motion. "Honestly," Kuroshiro Tsukiko sighed as her grandson entered the room, "it's about time. Come here." Teruo obediently crossed the room and stood still as Tsukiko fussed over him, making sure not a hair was out of place. He shot a pleading look to his grandfather, who was merely watching in amusement. "Oi, oi, Tsukiko," Hisoka finally interrupted, no longer able to resist his grandson's pitiful expression. "If his dawdling won't make him late, your fretting will. Let the boy go already." "Alright, alright," Tsukiko acquiesced, giving Teruo a final once-over. "Now, you listen to me Teruo. Don't be nervous...." His grandmother's voice seemed to fade into the background as the boy glanced away for just a moment and happened to notice a spiderweb just outside a nearby window. He watched as a dragonfly flitted a little too close, getting caught in the sticky threads. It fought against its fate, only to become more and more entangled. He was just observing the spider crawling out from hiding to claim its prize when he realized his grandmother was still talking to him, now even louder. "Teruo! Teruo, are you listening to me!?" she asked, seeming frustrated. "Gomen, 'baachan," he said, returning his gaze to her. "I was... sort of listening...." Tsukiko sighed, knowing just how much listening that was. "Well, it doesn't matter, I suppose," she murmured. "I don't have time to repeat it all or you really will be late." "Just give it your all, eh?" Hisoka finished for her before she could scold the boy. "Now, get going." Teruo nodded. "I will! Ittekimasu!" And with that, he was out the door. It was by no means a long walk to the Academy (where he'd been told to meet his sensei and teammates), but Teruo could hardly contain himself. He wanted to get there as quickly as possible. Just as soon as he was ought of sight of the house, the genin burst into a sprint, running as fast as he could through the streets of the Sound village. Upon reaching the Academy, Teruo took a moment to catch his breath before heading inside. As he made his way down the hall, he could hear voices coming from one of the classrooms. Could that be his sensei and his new teammates? Eagerly, he poked his head through an open door to see a female jounin and another girl with her. "Hi there!" he said, hoping he wasn't interrupting their conversation or anything. "Uhh, I'm Kuroshiro Teruo! And I'm looking for... looking for..." a glazed look entered his eyes for just a moment, as if his mind had temporarily jumped to another world, but he snapped back to soon after, "...Kotone-sensei. Am I in the right place?"

Miniscule pebbles and other such ground-based particles bounced rhythmically as a lone genin made her own way to the Academy, her feet the cause of this disruption to the tiny particulate as they pounded the earth in a half-walk/half-dance. I really should hurry..everyone else is probably already there.. Boomer mused to herself, but as was prone to happening, a song had been lodged between her ears and she couldn't help but move to the beat, humming along as she went. Her destination loomed ahead, so it hardly mattered. Bumping the door open with a well-placed hip, she slid inside the complex much to the astonishment of the present staff. Paying them no heed, she grooved her way along the halls, clever eyes flicking to and fro searching for the right room. Loose pigtails of bright pink, neon green, and electric blue streaks spun in a colorful blur as she twirled into the room and stopped with the jingle of bracelettes and baubles in an end-of-song pose. "Konnichiwaaa~!!" A bright grin took hold of her lips as she looked at the other occupants of the room.

Hitomi couldn't help but blink in surprise as two rather unique-looking people entered, right on each other's heels. The first was a boy about her height, and as far as her eyes could tell, he appeared to be clad in black and white - or, at least, shades very close to those colors. The second, a girl much larger than the petite Hitomi, made a much more boisterous entrance than the boy had. Her teammates were certainly unique, Hitomi reflected as she nodded politely to the two newcomers - it wouldn't do in this situation to speak before Kotone-sensei, of course. Not that she thought being unique was a bad thing; it was what it was. Should she tell them right away about what some outside her clan called a "disability"? Would they already know, having heard of the Takamura Clan from someone else? Or should she just wait? The young Genin was startled from her reverie when someone began speaking. Focusing on the task at hand, she turned to listen.

She had just hoisted herself up onto the desk at the front of the classroom to face the first genin that had arrived when they were joined by a rather interesting young man. "Hi there! Uhh, I'm Kuroshiro Teruo! And I'm looking for... looking for..." the young man trailed off and seemed to zone out before quickly snapping back into reality. "...Kotone-sensei. Am I in the right place?"The bushy-haired Jounin opened her mouth to answer, but before she could even get a word out, in danced a very colorfully-clad young lady who struck a pose as she stopped, followed by a rather chipper "Konnichiwaaa~!!"She smiled brightly at the two new individuals before motioning them to take a seat next to Hitomi. Her bright green gaze turned to Teruo. "Yes, you are in the right place." She then turned her attention to the group as a whole, a pleasant grin spreading across her face. "I am Yonemura Kotone, your new sensei. Now that everyone's arrived, we can begin. To start off, why don't we get to know each other a little better." She paused a moment to look around at the three very unique genin. "Tell us your name and anything else you'd like us to know... Who wants to go first?"

"I'll go first," Hitomi volunteered, standing up and turning to face her new teammates. "I'm Takamura Hitomi, 14 years old. I've been a Genin for two years, but this is the first team I've been on. Since there wasn't any room for me on a team before now, I was assigned odd jobs around the village and allowed to tag along with other teams on low-ranking missions." She then paused, unsure of whether to say any more. At last, she continued. "The Takamura have several traits, but the one I'll mention now is that everyone born into my clan is completely colorblind. I'm telling it to you now just so you know, so don't think it's some kind of disability or anything. "I use Taijutsu almost exclusively, some Ninjutsu, and am terrible at Genjutsu. I... guess that's everything for now. I hope we can work well together as a team." Feeling rather foolish for rambling on so, Hitomi took her seat, wondering who would go next.

"Thank you very much, Hitomi!" Kotone said as the girl finished. Clasping her hands together, she looked at the other two. "Who would like to go next?"

Teru had yet to be assured he was in the right place when the sound of loud singing met his ears, not to mention the approach of thunderous footsteps. He hardly had time to react when he was shoved through the door as a rather... robust young lady burst in dramatically, giving a twirl, posing, and uttering an energetic greeting. " Yes, you are in the right place," the jounin woman finally got a chance to say. " I am Yonemura Kotone, your new sensei. Now that everyone's arrived, we can begin. To start off, why don't we get to know each other a little better. Tell us your name and anything else you'd like us to know... Who wants to go first?" Teru definitely didn't want to go first, and was quite glad when the smaller girl volunteered. He did his best to listen intently as she spoke, but found himself distracted by the bright colors in the bigger genin's hair. Putting a hand to his chin thoughtfully, he edged closer, perhaps closer than might be considered polite space, his free hand investigating the colorful locks. However, this little expedition did not last long, as Hitomi's speech snatched up his interest once again. Edging away from his colorful teammate, he fidgeted, jumping right in as soon as Kotone had finished asking who would like to go next. "I will!" he announced. "I'm Kuroshiro Teruo, like I said before, and I'm 14 years old. We'll get along just fine, eh, Hitomi-chan? Since you said you're colorblind and all, and well... Ku-ro-shi-ro... get it?" he asked, a broad grin spreading across his face. "My name means black-white and you can't see color...." He paused to scratch his head. "What was I supposed to be talking abo--ohhh yeah!" "Ah-haahhh, sorry," he apologized, growing embarrassed. "I get a bit off-track sometimes. Anyways. I don't think I'm that great at much, but I love coming up with strategies and battle tactics, and I'm not too bad at genjutsu, but I suck at taijutsu. Chess is my number one hobby! It's the only time I can sit still." Hopping from one foot to the other a few times, the chains on his pants jingling merrily, he tried to think if there was anything else he needed to say. "I guess I'm a bit weird, but I hope you all don't think I'm crazy. I want us all to get along and be friends!" "That's all I have to say about me, I guess." Giving his two new teammates and his sensei a thumbs up, he added an enthusiastic, "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!"

"Y-yoroshiku," Hitomi replied haltingly, a hesitant half-smile on her face. She hadn't smiled very much in the past couple years; it would take some time to get used to it. Her new teammate almost tired her out just watching him, and if it had been someone else she might have been offended at even the mention of her vision, but for whatever reason, she found Teruo-kun's demeanor oddly endearing, and she knew he would only continue to grow on her as time went by. This was looking to be a good team, so far.

Arching a fine eyebrow for a moment as her hair was toyed with by the odd and spastic Teruo while Hitomi made her introduction. She felt a little sorry for her, being unable to see the awesomeness that was color, but that was life, she supposed. Teruo...seemed rather eccentric, albeit it in a rather adorable fashion. Finally, it was her turn, and she stepped foreward a bit, smoothing out the short, metal-accent-heavy skirt that she wore over black knee-length shorts; a pocket-laden, flame-accented jacket over a black tank top completing very un-ninjalike attire. "Weeeell, for starters, you can call me Boomer! B or B-chan works too, though. It's not my real name, but don't bother asking for THAT." Making a disgusted face, she pressed on. "I'm 15, and I like music, singing, dancing, basically anything that has the potential to be LOUD! I also like to take things apart to see how they work." Bobbing to an internalized beat while she thought, her bright grin never faulted. "As far as skills go, would you call the Pun Police if I said I'm a well-rounded girl?" Giggling at her own joke, she rocked back and forth on her heels. "However, I'm quite good at manipulating sound. Kinda appropriate, ne? Anywho! Yooo-rooo-shi~ku!~"
