The sun rose bright and clear over Hidden Leaf Village, much like it had any other day. Unfortunately, Tensei Kaori would not be able to enjoy the beautiful day this was promising to be. No, there was too much to do and not enough daylight in which to accomplish it. She had finally moved in to the Hokage's residence, located in the same large complex as the Ninja Administration. That gave her much easier access to the usual places she needed to be - most of them, at least - but also took away the morning walk she'd come to enjoy when she'd lived in her temporary apartment. Maybe she would be able to take those morning walks again, but right now there was just too much to do. Still, certain occasions afforded her the opportunity to revisit the happy little tradition. As a medical specialist she was often going back and forth between the Hospital and the Administration Building, but it wasn't usually so early in the morning. It was nice, to be able to walk the streets of Konoha when all was still quiet. As she approached her destination, though, relaxation was thrown out the window in favor of more calculated, planning thought. She had a good idea of just what was ailing this particular young man, if ailing it could be called - though, she reminded herself, it seemed to have caused him enough trouble in the past. Unfortunately, though, this diagnosis would not be as simple as one might think. A full evaluation really was necessary here, for more reasons than one. And that, unfortunately, would take some time. She hoped this Tsutomegi would handle the evaluation well; the quicker they could get through this, the better for everyone involved. A friendly volunteer greeted her at the front desk, presenting to her the materials she'd requested - a folder, attached to a clipboard with the basics of a file already made up for her newest patient. It was this file that would contain the results of every test, written accounts of every observation, and so on. In the calm but warm manner she usually wore in the hospital, Kaori slipped on a white coat over her black and white outfit, stuck a pen behind her ear - careful not to bump the blue hairsticks she wore, of course - took the clipboard in hand, and set off. The volunteers would guide Tsutomegi-kun to the right place, which left Kaori free to go ahead to the assigned room, begin planning, and wait for Akina to arrive so they could prepare.

" Uuuuwaaaaahhh...." Piercing light forced open eyes a duller grey than average, clouded and murky from sleep. The morning sun shone through the window directly onto his face, exactly as he had wanted it to. Alarm clocks were far too easy to ignore or disengage. The sun, however, was not. Stretching as the hefty yawn tensed his body, the unusual Utsuro sat up in his new bed. The night had passed fairly uneventfully. After years of sleeping wherever he could find an even remotely secure spot, the simple bed had sucked every last bit of energy from his frame, abducting him into the deepest slumber he could remember. Slipping from its confines groggily, the clumsy boy staggered across the room to get ready. If he'd had his way, he'd have stayed in that bed until noon...at least. But he had somewhere to be this morning, as much as he hated to admit it. Utsuro loathed hospitals, they always tried to tell him something was wrong with him, when there never was. But the Hokage said it needed to be done in order for him to stay, so it couldn't be helped. Pulling out his 'best' (I.E least torn and patched) clothes from his new dresser and donning them after a brisk shower, Utsuro downed a soldier pill for breakfast, leaving himself a note to buy some real food after the appointment. "Well...here we go.." Heading out, he carefully locked his new home behind him, making sure the key was inserted into the pocket WITHOUT any holes. Making his way onto the early morning streets of Hidden Leaf, the boy walked just a little taller without the burden of his bundle, and followed his mental map towards the hospital.

Kaori had found herself a nice, comfortable seat in the examination room - a spot in which she could think without distraction about how best to go about the examination. What should they do, when? How long would it take? A lot of that depended on factors Kaori couldn't control, such as her patient's emotional state, the waiting time to use certain machines, or a sudden emergency that would call her away to attend to another patient. Then there was the matter that had been called to her attention the day before.... The sharp click of high heels echoing down the hallway roused Kaori from her thoughts and, sure enough, in walked Akina a moment later, a white coat thrown on over her usual blue clothes and another folder in her hand. "Good morning, Kaori-sama," the red-haired Kunoichi said brightly. "This is almost just like old times, isn't it?""Almost," Kaori answered wryly as she accepted the folder from Akina, "almost. But not quite. No, we've both come a long way in this short time. Still, I suppose it is rather nice to start the day here." "... instead of the bureaucratic jungle?" Akina asked with a slight laugh. "Don't look at me like that," she added scoldingly, "you hate that sort of thing even more than I do.""And I manage it half as well," Kaori admitted. "Why do you think I chose you as my second?" "For more reasons than that; that's for sure," Akina shot back. "What do you think of that report?" she asked, nodding in the direction of the folder Kaori was now perusing, though both women already had the contents memorized. "I think it confirms both of our suspicions," the Hokage replied with a sigh. "Still, I don't think we should show this right away. No need in getting the poor child more worked up than he has to be to get through this." The folder slid into the clipboard's grasp as Kaori spoke, held underneath the folder containing the medical file. Akina just nodded. "By the way," she asked, "When are we expecting him?""Pretty soon," Kaori answered, continuing to look through the (mostly blank) medical file. "In fact, he could arrive any time now."

Looking up at the ominous building, the Tsutomegi boy shuddered involuntarily. He gave a moment's thought to just leaving there and now, but he had come too far already to turn tail. At least this one looked a little more inviting than others he had been to. That one doctor in Hidden Mist... Shivering, he pushed the thought from his mind and slipped into the hospital quietly, shuffling up to the front desk. "..um...e..excuse me...I..have an appointment? My name is Tsutomegi Utsuro.." He watched as the pleasant-seeming woman at the desk checked over a list before pressing a finger to a spot. " Ah, here we are! And right on time to boot!" Offering a smile to soothe his obvious nervousness, she glanced at another volunteer, who slipped out from behind the desk. " If you'll just follow her, she'll take you to the proper room." "Thank you very much." Bowing quickly, he moved to follow the second woman down the hallways. Thankfully, the trip was a quick one, and left him little time to dwell on paranoias and worries. Knocking on the door softly, she called inside. " Hokage-dono, Tsutomegi-kun is here." Waiting for a reply, she opened the door to let him in, offering another reassuring smile. Nodding and bowing again in silent thanks, he managed not to trip over his own feet shuffling inside, eyes darting about quickly for any signs that something was going to go wrong. Ah...Akina-sama is here too..

"Good, good," Kaori said, focus still on the documents in front of her. "Thank you." It was only after the woman bowed and left that Kaori looked up, offering a small but calmly warm smile. "Good morning, Tsutomegi-kun," she said simply as Akina stepped to the side and began rummaging through one of the cabinets. "I trust this morning finds you well?"

"Good morning, Hokage-dono, Akina-sama." Bowing steeply, he clasped one hand over the other in front of himself to avoid wringing them nervously. "As well as one can be, when one is expected at a hospital first thing." Utsuro stated simply, a barely perceptible smile upon his lips at his weak attempt at lighthearted humor.

Seems like we've got a nervous one, Akina thought as she continued rummaging through the cabinets in the room. That should make things more interesting."Good, good," she could hear Kaori-sama saying. "Don't worry," she continued in her motherly fashion, obviously picking up on some unspoken sign of distress. "We may not be doing something most would consider fun, to be sure, but it won't be that unpleasant."At last, Akina found what she was searching for and ducked back out of the cabinet with her prize in hand. A quick trip into one of the other cabinets produced a bag labeled "Personal Belongings" with a place provided for a name sticker. "You'll need to put these on," Akina explained, trying to soften her businesslike tone, as she handed Tsutomegi-kun what she'd been looking for - the Hospital's standard-issue clothing for patients. It consisted of a simple top and pants made from soft, pale blue material. "You can put your regular clothes in this bag so they don't get lost. There's a restroom right across the hall from us. Don't run away, now," she teased gently, trying to get the boy to loosen up a little.

THAT unpleasant?! Trying not to visibly panic, he nodded and accepted the new clothes and the bag. " Don't run away, now." Akina-sama's tone seemed to indicate humor, so he did his best to crack a smile for her. Clutching the items to his chest, he bowed swiftly. "Excuse me for a moment, then." Turning quickly, he almost slammed head-first into the door, but fortunately remembered to open it before rushing out and into the aforementioned restroom to change. In a matter of moments, he was carrying the now-filled back back into the room. These are..rather comfortable. After all, it would not do to keep them waiting, especially for such a simple task. Closing the door behind him, he turned to face them again.

"All ready, then?" Kaori asked. "We'll start with the basics," she explained, adding a soothing quality to her musical Tensei voice as she gestured to a scale that appeared to have vertical measure to gauge height as well. "This is a harmless scale, as I'm sure you know. It won't do anything except what you see it doing right now, which is absolutely nothing. Hop up here, now, and stand still."

Well, everything SEEMED to be routine so far. No strange, new people...he hadn't been drugged while changing and woke up strapped to a table under a blinding light.. Hopping up onto the scale as directed, he saved her the time and stood up straight as an arrow from his usual slouch. No doubt she would have said something otherwise, and Utsuro did not want to cause her any undue grief...or cause her to become cross. Her tone of voice was quite nice the way it was.

"Good, you're learning," Kaori said in response to Tsutomegi standing straight instead of slouching. "Now just hold still...." Without being asked to - the two women worked well enough together to not require total verbal communication - Akina moved to the side of the scale and began to work the scale, sliding the markers back and forth until the desired result was achieved. Kaori filled the numbers in quickly and nodded to Akina, who left the scale to retrieve the device for your next test. "Good, good," she told Tsutomegi soothingly, noticing he was calming down in response to her encouragement. "Now, come sit up here," she instructed, gesturing to the so-called examining table that, because of comfortable padding, soft sheets, and even a pillow, was more a bed than a table. "So, tell me," she asked. "How are you liking your new home so far?"

Sitting down as instructed, he shifted a bit until comfortable. "It's very nice, thank you. I cannot remember the last time I slept so well.." Pausing for a moment, he added. "It is...a bit too nice..I think..for someone such as myself....I suppose...I just need time to adjust." Shrugging softly, he waited to see what they had planned for him next. Hopefully nothing that involved needles..

"You should stop referring to yourself as the scum of the earth," Kaori instructed gently - but still with a hint of a wry tone - as Akina brought a blood pressure cuff and wrapped it snugly around their patient's arm. "It's not healthy. We're going to measure your blood pressure now. It'll be tight, and it might be a little uncomfortable, but it's completely harmless. Are you ready?"

Nodding softly in response to her comment, he held his arm out to make the process easier on Akina-sama. "I am familiar with the procedure, Hokage-dono. It is probably going to be on the low side, as my diet tends to be less than ideal during my travels..Ready, of course."

This part of the examination was, of course, as natural as breathing to the two women conducting it, being a standard part of Doctor's visits of any kind. It took no conscious effort for Kaori to record her observations - both mentally and in writing in the file - and both women moved with the sort of graceful efficiency that only comes with years of experience. "So, Tsutomegi-kun," Kaori asked when she had a moment, "when was the last time you ate something? Answer truthfully, now," she added in a gentle-yet-firm tone of voice that clearly said she would know if he was lying.
