"Buuuuu~.."
"You just ate!"
"Gabubu! Buuu~ Ani!"
"Now you're just sucking up." Shichuumaru laughed, patting the head of his partner as he crawled out of the chakra-hardened silk case slung over his shoulder. Rubbing his hands in a practiced circular motion, a small amount of chakra was condensed into a round pellet in no time at all. "Here. But that's it until we're done at the administration building!"
"Gabu!" The larva headbutted Shichuu's neck affectionately and latched onto the pellet, retreating into his case. "Nom nom nom.."
The Ninja Administration Building loomed ahead, an ominous spire, and yet a beacon of hope. Here he would apply to be placed on a Genin team, and his adventures as a ninja would begin! "Well, here we go!" With a broad grin, he entered.
"What do you mean there's no available teams right now?!"
"I'm sorry, but there just aren't enough Genins on the waiting list. Please try back again in a few months."
"I see..thank you anyway.." Shoulders slumping as if some of the air had been let out of him, Shichuumaru turned to leave.
"You're killing it, by the way.."
"Come again?" The attendant looked over at the boy from the desk plant she had been watering.
"Your plant. You're killing it." The boy sighed, turning his focus back to her. "It's a Bromeliaceae. They require bright, but indirect sunlight, which it's not gonna get sitting on your desk, and you can't overwater it. You're practically drowning the poor thing. You should only be giving it a little water in a shallow dish at the base, and misting the leaves with a spray bottle."
"O-..oh....thank you."
"You're welcome. I'll bring by some fertilizer for it next time." With a slight wave, the dishearted boy excused himself and made his way back onto the streets of Konoha, trying to decide what to do now.
