"And what is that reason?"

"It is an unfortunate side effect of the Tsutomegi Clan's unique method of training, brought on by the fact that I am not as strong as I should be by this age, hence my desire to train." He responded plainly.

The Hokage held up her hand to signal a pause before nodding to Akina-san, who immediately retrieved a clipboard and pen with which to take notes. It was only after the kunoichi returned to her seat that Hideki received the nod to continue. "What is the method of training used by the Tsutomegi Clan?" he asked at last.

"As set out in the scriptures recorded by the Clan's founders, when a child is born to a Tsutomegi, on the fifth hour of their life, while the child is still uninfluenced by the world, rituals are performed." Drawing in a breath, he continued. "These rituals harness 5 weak spirits, one for each of the primary elements, and a binding is performed to join the child and the spirits together in keeping with the contracts made by the founders with the 5 Gods of the Elementals. Through this contract, the spirits are allowed the body to experience the material world as they normally could not, and the host body is granted the ability to harness all 5 elements." Another pause for breath. "The spirits are made dormant, and must be unleashed through training and rituals as the child grows. The Clan's secret technique, Go Kami no Wa no Jutsu, allows us to cycle through the unleashed spirits at will, tapping into their power as needed."
"But to properly answer your question of the blackouts, they occur because the destruction of my village prevented me from training properly, so much so that I can barely remember the technique. My body and will are too weak yet to properly control my spirit of Fire, so when Ichiyuumaihi-sama wishes to do so, he assumes control of my body, causing me to lose conciousness."

The four Shinobi in the room exchanged questioning looks. The Bijyuu had been unheard of for decades, and they were the closest things to "spirits" that existed in the known world. "You are absolutely certain of the existance of these spirits?" Hideki asked cautiously. "Or is this just what you have been told?"

Blinking slightly as if somewhat confused by the form of the question, he responded. "It is a certainty. Spirits are all around us, as much a part of this world as we are. The elementals, especially, are crucial to the workings of the world, the rains, the winds, the storms, all are their handiwork." It would probably seem like a very...primative way of thinking for the older, more educated shinobi, but if Tengakure was as remote and unknown as to remain as unknown as it was, no doubt its people were a bit 'behind the times'.

"I've heard enough," Kaori ordered. "Wake him up." "Yes," Hideki murmured, forming the appropriate hand seal. "Kai!"

Blinking profusely, as if just awakening in the morning, Utsuro looked around a bit before amazingly speaking up. "...um..so..what are your questions, Fumei-sama?"

"We're all done," Hideki said with his usual comforting charm. "You did fine. You made it easy for yourself, just as I told you." "We're finished here," Kaori announced, rising gracefully from her seat to glide back behind her desk. She did not take her seat, though, choosing instead to remain standing as she issued her orders with an imperious, calm manner. "Fumei," she began, "you have been most helpful. If you would, please help set my office back in order before you go. Miyoko, help Fumei. You're dismissed as soon as you finish. Akina, fetch me the forms I'll need from downstairs. You know the ones." "Yes," the three Shinobi answered in perfect unison before springing into action. Akina was out the door almost before the sound faded away. Fumei - Hideki - and Miyoko began returning the extra chairs to their proper places, pulling up the windowshades, and removing the sign from the door. It was only then that Kaori sank easily into her chair, hands folded neatly on her desk. " You," she told Tsutomegi, "will remain here in my office until I say otherwise, though you may move your chair back up to my desk if you prefer."

Utsuro visibly flinched at the tone with which she initially addressed him, and sat incredibly confused as the office suddenly bustled with activity. They had just all sat down. And what had Fumei-sama meant that he did fine? Not a single question was asked!
Utsuro wavered a bit in his chair, the stress of the moment almost causing him to pass out.

"For goodness' sake, child, breathe," Kaori instructed, pushing the glass of water she had offered him earlier closer to the edge of the desk. "Slow, deep breaths. And drink this. In sips, mind."

Sipping quietly, Utsuro tried to calm himself. Fainting now would only cause no end of trouble. Breathing deeply, he seemed to settle down.

"Calmed down a bit?" Kaori asked gently. "Good," she continued without waiting for an answer. "You would do well not to faint when you've already made it this far. You do not remember answering any questions, but I can assure you they were asked, and you answered as honestly as you were able. That is somewhat of Fumei's specialty, so to speak. Don't look at me like that," she added firmly in response to the look he gave her. "Did you think I wouldn't know how it works? Hm?" a raised eyebrow said he better not answer that. "Anyways," she continued as Miyoko and Hideki made their exit, "I heard everything I needed to know, whether you realize it or not. And I have made my decision." She paused to give the young man a warm - if not truly affectionate - smile before going on. "You will be allowed to stay in Konoha as a legal resident, including the rights and privileges awarded to all citizens."

Panic grabbed at his throat. Answered questions without knowing? Had Fumei used some sort of genjutsu on him? What had they asked him? What did he TELL them?! His head spun as the possibilities swam through his head, almost making him miss the Hokage's next statement.
"...th...th..thank you!!" He just about fell out of his chair the ensuing bow was so swift and deep. He could hardly believe it.
