Tou Clan
The Tou clan is one of the older Suna clans but not one particularly known for its strength. However it is known well for its poisons, recipies which are kept totally secret. These poisons far outweigh the need for physical strength in many cases. Tous are trained to use traps and medicide to support their teammates rather than to fight alone.
History
The Tou clan was founded before the hidden villages even were, a family of apothecaries who worshipped spiders and worked as doctors in the area that would become the village hidden in the sand. At this time, the Tou clan was only a small family with none of the customs that the current clan has. When the hidden villages were founded, more and more families became shinobi. Though the Tou clan initially disapproved of the idea of ruling by fear one generation the male heir, after losing a close shinobi friend and before passing at the academy was required, forced himself into the gap left on his friend's team, feeling his skills as a medic would prevent future casualties. The presence of a medic proved exceedingly useful, though the boy met a young death as a result of taking missions without the training his team had. Since then, the family have trained as shinobi in order to work as medics.
Appearance
Tous all have very pale blonde hair and wide-set brown eyes. Their skin is darker than most and the illusion of still-darker skin is created by their innemerous freckles. They are expected to wear their clan colours - dull yellow and white - at all times, though they often also wear black When in other countries, they will wear clouors appropriate for camoflage there. The clan colours and their appearance are both very good for hiding in Suna. They rarely wear the clan symbol - a circle broken at the top and surronded by eight dots, four on each side - but it does exist. As a rule they are very short with slight builds and their growth is only stunted further by their constant exposure to various poisons.
Skills and Fighting style
They have an almost-perfect sense of balence achieved by beling forced to stand perfectly still on thin wires from when they are old enough to stand and punished if their feet get cut. Because of this, they are very agile despite their speed being fairly average as their sense of balence allows them to change directions without having to slow down much. Their physical strength is not terrible, but they rarely show skill in taijutsu as they are very prone to mild collagen deficiencies which leave their bones slightly more brittle than average and their taijutsu suffers greatly as a result.
Their main strength lies in the poisons they use. These poisons are specifically made to mock the body's natural workings and thus be difficult to detect and remove. Most Tous are given small amounts of the poisons diluted from birth to build up a resistance to them (Itome was not due to her collagen deficiency being too severe - it would have been too dangerous). Usually, members of the Tou clan use a special claw-glove to get poison into an enemy, this glove has triggers that can either inject or mist the poison, injecion being harder to achieve than misting due to the clan all being terrible at taijutsu. The triggers are difficult to push with one hand to make them difficult to push by accident, but they can also be activated using a one-handed seal using the gloved hand. (Itome does not use this as her lack of immunity to poisons makes misting dangerous).
Tous are also known for their skill as doctors. Most Tous become medics, some even giving up conventional missions altogether to work as emergency doctors who can be sent after a team which has run into troubles and hold their own against any threats. Because of thier specialism in healing and poisons, they were greatly insulted in the past when a certain pink-haired kunoichi from konoha outdid every sand medic at removal of poison and many of the older clan members harbour an intense dislike for residents of konoha in general.
The Tou's most deadly poisons mock the body's workings and so cannot be prevented by immunity. This makes using them quite dangerous. However, they are entirely useless alone. In order to use these poisons, the user must inject them and then land a successful hit with their hands in the exact area they hit, using chakra to create a small electric charge that imitates a muscle impulse. Due to the lack of taijutsu skill the clan is infamous for, this can be quite difficult. (Itome has acess to one of these poisons, the least deadly which rapidly produces lactic acid in the affected area.)
The main weapon that Tous use is their wire. They have 500 to 3000 metres of wire carried on their back or lower back on a large reel. They can conrol this wire using chakra normally, though stabbing it into the base of their spine inreases their precision with it greatly. They can use this wire to attack, inject poison and create traps. Using chakra allows them to move it freely, unwind and rewind it from the reel, break it off and re-attach broken-off parts.
They are also very fond of traps.
