Well folks, it’s here at last! The KONOHA VILLAGE INTERACTIVE FANFICTION! I’m really excited about this, as I know at least some of you all are, so let’s try to make this as fun as possible. ;D
All right, first things first. What IS an interactive fanfiction? Well, an interactive fanfiction – or an interactive fic, as it may be called, is simply a fanfiction that, instead of being written by a single person, is planned and actually played out by a group of people in a series of continuative posts – in this case, that would be us. They get together, create characters, an environment, and a plot – everything that would be vital for your more “traditional” writing – and then take turns “acting” it out by writing from their character’s point of view. Think of it as a kind of online roleplaying in which the characters interact with each other through their players’ writing. For example, Author A might write something like this in a post:
”’Crap! I’m late!’ she shouted as she ran down the street. ‘Sensei is going to kill me!’ She ran as fast as she could, hoping she would make it to the Academy before long, but she failed to see the stranger in front of her until it was too late. She crashed into him at full speed and landed in a heap on the ground.”
In this example, Character A is a Ninja Academy student who was running late, and, in her hurry, didn’t look where she was going and therefore ran right into someone – Character B. Author B could have Character B react in several different ways. For example, Character B could get angry at the girl for running into him, he could help her up and see if she’s okay, or he could even walk her to the Academy. In the next post, Character A would respond to Character B’s actions, and in the next, Character B would respond; etc, etc. This continues until whatever is being played out has been played from beginning to end. In our example, it would probably end once Character A reached the Academy and, if applicable, was scolded for being late. Anything else that happens at the Academy would better fit in its own section.
….Which brings us to this next point. Where will all this take place? Well, if you’re reading this post, you’re there! The Interactive Fanfic boards are the special spot created solely for the Fic. They’re pretty self explanatory, but I’ll run through it quickly: the Bio Boards are for posting bios of your character (more on this later), the Out-of character (or OoC, as it’s known) board is for planning events that take place in the fic (and for explanatory/Q&A posts like this one), and the Konoha/Outside Konoha boards are for the actual fic to take place – if you have a question about whether something is considered part of Konoha or part of everywhere else, just ask.
Now, Bios. Bios – short for Biographies – tell us everything we need to know about your character. What they look like, how old they are, what their past, personality, hopes, dreams, aspirations, and fears are. Of course, this can all be summed up in a few paragraphs – so please, don’t write a novel. For our fic, this would also include what kind of Jutsu your character uses. Are they from an Advanced Bloodline or a clan that uses special Jutsu (like the Yamanaka, Nara, Akimichi, Aburame, and Inuzuka clans)? If so, what kind of jutsu do they use? As your character progresses, it’s a good idea to add to his or her bio to keep it up-to-date with the storyline. A Genin’s bio tends to be rather outdated for a Jounin.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Advanced Bloodlines are practically non-existent in Konoha, with the exception of Hyuuga. I’ll allow a couple Hyuuga (see below), but no new advanced bloodlines. Remember, Uchiha is extinct except for Sasuke and Itachi. Please remember that this is about a group of us creating our OWN ninja characters to play as, not building extensions off someone else’s. Be creative in making your character; it’s more fun that way. That said, I’m putting a limit as to how many people can be from the main clans that we see In the story. I may allow a few to have characters from these clans because, well, we can’t really ignore them. You have to have a good reason, though (not “it’s cool”), and a strong, creative character. Such bios have to be approved, though, and I WILL NOT be playing favorites – if you’re the first to meet this criteria, then you’ve got it. It’s as simple as that. I may allow more than one per clan, if both characters are related, but both parties must meet the said criteria separately, and I will need contacts from both saying that they’ve consented to this. By the way, jutsu that are passed down through the family from one generation to the next without being bloodline limits (like kagemane, baika, and shintenshin) are by all means encouraged.
Participating in the Fic
Ok, now that you’ve got the basics down, here’s how it’ll work. These are just some quickie notes that are good to know before you begin:
~ When in doubt, ask. It won’t hurt and besides, it’s always best to be on the safe side.
~ Want to do a mission? Great! Either write it yourself or get a group of you together to try and write it. Keep in mind, though, that I need to approve all missions before you begin them.
~If you’re an Academy Student and want to write out taking lessons at the Academy, you may do so as long as it involves something that we know exists in the series (like jutsu and chakra control). You can either NPC a sensei or ask a local Chuunin/Jounin to play along with you. Getting a group of students together to take the same “class” is also a fun idea.
~Be realistic. A Genin isn’t going to be doing A-rank missions all the time, and will know way less jutsu than a Chuunin or Jounin. Upper-ranking ninjas will also be likely to be more mature than the kids, as well.
That’s all for now, so post here and you can get started! I’ll be posting a “story thus far” thread in the planning board so you all know what’s going on. Yay!
One more thing......
Everyone give a huge hand of applause to Kirigakure, who helped me tremendously with writing this. Thanks for all your help, Kiri-chan!!!! ;D
IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE IF RULES:
Because I don't have time right now to rewrite the rules, here are a couple addenda to the current post.
You ARE allowed to make your characters' clans as kekkei-genkai users. As long as you don't godmod, you're welcome to your own special bloodlines.
The rank-by-post and character limit rules are also out the window: as seen here. villageofkonoha.proboards29.com/index.cgi?board=OoCplan&action=display&thread=1143343640
Thanks!
