"And for that, I am quite glad!" Ryuurei smirked at the idle threat, bringing the brush to bear and begining to carefully fill in the missing details of the structure. A calm crossed his face as he worked, dedicated to even this most peculiar application of his talents. "I'm fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!!" The young girl protested, squirming away from the medic yet again. They were so persistent! It was almost as if they WANTED to find something wrong with her! Yes she'd hidden in the forests during the fighting, and yes she'd lost both her parents, but she was FINE! Hurrying down the street with her prize in hand, she plucked a small hard candy from her pocket, unwrapping it and popping it in her mouth. "Melon~!" She chirped happily to herself, finally reaching her destination. The war had been nasty, poor Konoha almost leveled. So many people had been hurt...or worse...her parents included. But now was not the time for tears! She was a big girl, and she could help too! And so Tanaka Atsuko had awoken with dawn's first light, and set out on her mission to help the only way a little girl like her really could. It had taken several hours to find what she sought, braving ruined houses and closed shops, sneaking around behind the adults backs- no doubt they'd be cross had they seen her, but she could handle herself!- as her newly-repaired cart was filled. Ichiraku-sama had been an invaluable help, grinning as she'd explained her 'mission' when he found her in his currently-closed ramen shop, making use of a still-perfectly-good kitchen. He'd also professed being very impressed with Atsuko's level of skill. Now, she was finally on her way, just in time as well! A wide, conical straw hat shielding her from the bright noon-day sun, and an old sake keg filled with fresh lemonade strapped to her back, she pulled the wooden cart along behind her as she moved down the street where she knew some reconstruction workers to be at. Looking back at her clattering payload, the dozens of cloth-wrapped boxes were incredibly tell-tale. Everyone had been working so hard, and with the level of destruction throughout the village, stopping for a good meal was probably an impossibility for most of them. So it wasn't much of a help, she was sure, but it was a heartfelt one at least! Inhaling deeply, she called out down the street as loudly as she could. "LUUUUUUNCHTIIIIIME!!" Surely the elders wouldn't mind if she halted progress for a few minutes. A break would probably do wonders for morale, as well! Besides, who didn't like Bento?

Akihiko watched with interest as Ryuu-san worked, the other Jounin's brush literally filling in the gaps in the building. He could vividly remember Hideki's reaction to his own first time seeing Ryuu-san at work; his big brother had come home eager to share the experience with the rest of them. He was careful, of course, not to let his mental ramblings take his focus away from the task at hand, which was mainly to keep the entire building from falling down on their heads. "How's it look?" he asked when an appropriate moment presented itself. "Just lemme know if you need me to move or hold something else." Akihara Izumi was one of the lucky ones. Except for the minor injuries that were life as usual in her line of work, she had escaped the war completely unharmed. Her family had all survived, and her home was in relatively good condition. It was still standing, and the roof was still whole and solid. And so, of course, she was now doing the only thing she could do: showing her thankfulness by helping people who hadn't been so fortunate. She sighed, brushing sweat-dampened, pale blue hair out of her face with a gloved hand as she straightened up from bending over her task, which was hauling furniture and debris out of damaged homes so that reconstruction or demolition crews could do their jobs. She was just beginning to wonder if she should take a few minutes to eat anything when a child's voice called out across the area: "LUUUUUUNCHTIIIIIME!!"Izumi exchanged confused glances with her older brother Koichi, who shrugged. "Go on," he told her. "I'll get this out of the way and I'll catch up in a minute." Izumi nodded and set off, only to find a most unusual sight: a child pulling a wooden cart, with - of all things - an old sake jug in tow. She was unlike any little girl Izumi had ever seen. "Well, well, well," she said in a calm voice, shockingly pink eyes taking in the unexpected sight even as a slight smile crossed her face. "What have we here?"

"Splendid. It's truly a pity I've yet to devise a way to make my inks more...indelible. I could save everyone quite some time in the reconstruction. A half-step to the right, if you would please?" The artist asked rhetorically, waiting patiently for his coworker to comply before delivering a finalizing stroke and flourish to that particular beam. A faint, barely perceivable glow permeated the paint, and it seemed to solidify, blending in almost flawlessly with the wood around it, a slight gleam the only indication it was not real. "There. That one's done. On to the next, then? And do let me know when and if you need a break, of course." Aaaand we've got a taker! That was fast~!Tilting her hat up slightly to peer up at the older girl in front of her, Atsuko flashed a cheerful grin. "We have a roaming lunch cart!" Setting the legs of the cart to the ground, she adjusted the band holding the old keg to her. "Everyone's so busy, busy, busy working so hard, some aren't even taking the time to eat properly!" A very serious tone was adopted for sweet-voiced young girl, her best attempt at a stern look on her face. "And sometimes the food tents run out by the time they DO get there! SO! If people won't come to the food, I'll bring the food to them!" She declared triumphantly with a raised finger. "I made as many Bento boxes and as much lemonade as I could! Want one, oneesan?"

That little girl... had made those bento boxes? Izumi, to be honest, wasn't sure whether or not to believe her. Besides that, was it really safe? And even if she had made them, she had to wonder about sanitation. But then, she was pretty confident in her ability to discern such problems. "What're ya waiting for, eh, Izumi-chan?" a familiar male voice said from behind her at the same time as a somewhat muscular arm was draped across her shoulders. "Jeez, Tatsuya!" Izumi exclaimed, nearly jumping out of her skin at her teammate's rather sudden and unexpected appearance. "Are you trying to get me to pull out one of my scrolls on you?" "Just keeping you on your toes, Izumi-chan!" Tatsuya replied happily as Izumi shrugged his arm off her shoulders; he then turned his attention to the little girl with the cart. "We'll take two, please, my dear!" he told her with his usual charming grin. Izumi just rolled her eyes. Did Tatsuya ever run out of energy?

Giggling a bit at the antics of the older two, Atsuko just beamed as the handsome young man requested two. "Coooming right up!" Setting the jug carefully down to lean against the car, she began looking over the cloth-wrapped packages. "What would you like? I managed to make Makunouchi, Tori, and a couple Shidashi!*" A backwards glance over her shoulder at the two showcased a proud grin on her face. ((*: 3 different styles of bento. Featuring rice, umeboshi, a slice of salmon, etc; Chicken cooked in sauce over rice; and rice, tempura, and pickled vegetables. Wiki ftw >.>))

"Hmmm..." Izumi wasn't really sure which she wanted. Tatsuya, meanwhile, seemed to make up his mind in an instant, requesting a Shidashi. Izumi was about to make her own selection when a firm hand placed itself on her shoulder; she barely needed to look to recognize her older brother, Koichi. "Hmm. What's all this, then?" he asked, surveying the boxes with interest. "Lunch," Izumi told him with a completely deadpan expression. "Helpful," Koichi observed with a wry chuckle. "She like this around you and your team, Tatsuya-kun?"
"Always!" Was Tatsuya's cheerful reply. Izumi just rolled her eyes and slipped in front of the two men. "I'll take one Tori, please," she told the little girl before offering her a sly wink. "And quick, so I can run off somewhere quiet." "What!?" came Tatsuya's voice from behind her. "What are you talking about, Izumi-chan? Izumi-chan!"

Shifting the wrapped lunches around, Atsuko giggled as she plucked up certain ones. These people were SILLY! Thankfully she'd thought ahead and developed a code for the cloths and the lunches they contained. "Here we are!" Whirling about, bentos in hand, the small girl offered them up. "One Tori, and one Shidashi~!"

"After just one beam?" Akihiko asked with a raised eyebrow, cautiously easing away from the temporarily repaired beam. As good as the unorthodox fix might be, he was still cautious about making sudden movements. What he wouldn't have given for one of those barrier ninjas right now. It took him a moment to decide where to move next, but before long he was shifting another piece of the house back into place. "C'mon, Ryuu-san," he continued, slipping into a slightly mischievous grin even as he focused on his task, "give me some credit, would you?" Wary of the food or not, Izumi was glad for an excuse to take a break and get something to eat. Rebuilding was hard work, and she would have likely skipped lunch had a reminder not suddenly surfaced. She was sure to thank the strange little girl as she accepted her bento, and then she was on her way to her favorite calm spot to settle down and enjoy it.

"Oh, very well, but I'll have you know my rates of interest are quite steep." Ryuurei grinned as he began his task anew, saturating the brush's tip and diligently filling in the missing material. "I think I shall call this piece Reconstructive Rhapsody~.." Waving cheerily as the older girl retreated, she called out after her. "Hope you like it! Keep up the good work!" Turning to the others, she nodded slightly. "You as well, of course!" Smiling widely, she shouldered the gourd again and took up the handles of the cart once more. "Yosh~! Time to find more hungry people!"

Akihiko just shook his head, shifting so he didn't have to lean so awkwardly to hold up the next piece of vital and unstable architecture. "You never let up with that, do you, Ryuu-san?" he asked amusedly. "I'll never know how Nii-san survived it for all these years."

Grinning broadly, the jounin just continued to work. "The art of wordplay is still, in essence, an art." "As for your Nii-san...Well.." He chuckled softly. "We did have more pressing things to concern ourselves with back in those days."
