"He is......probably resting.....he tends..to ignore me...as well." Utsuro admitted softly, fidgeting with his hands slightly. "I am...so sorry...for causing you both such trouble.."

Ayaka just shrugged as Hero Boy - she had to remember to ask his name - excused himself and dashed off towards the counter at the back of the cafe. "No trouble," she said simply. "Whole day's been like a dream anyways." She could faintly hear Hero Boy talking to the couple behind the counter - presumably the owners - that his friends weren't feeling well and needed to leave, and Ayaka sighed, idly twisting a bit of red-orange hair around her finger. "It's just... a whole other world here."

Utsuro just nodded in agreement, shifting along the bench towards the edge. It seemed they would be leaving soon, and he was all too happy for it. As soon as Takeo-sama returned, they could be on their way and he could put this whole...ordeal...behind him. Hopefully. Standing slowly, he gathered the menus that they had been brought and shuffled over to the elderly couple. Bowing steeply, he held out the menus to them. "G-gomen..I shall...have to..return another day...when I am......feeling better. I hope....that I have not...offended you." He stated quietly. Of course, such a day would have to wait for him to actually have some money...but still. He did not want them to think he did not WANT to be there. It seemed a nice enough place, after all.

Takeo waited for the friendly couple to assure Tsutomegi that it was no trouble before wishing the two good night and steering his friend to the door, picking up a very lost-looking Ayaka-chan on the way. Note to self, he thought to himself. Don't just walk off and leave this one.Just like when they entered, Takeo opened the door for his two companions, angling himself out of the way so they would have room to get out. And just like that they were out in the dark, a few random dark blotches marring the golden glow of the street lights: just one more piece of evidence of the violence that had taken over the village just days ago. "Well!" he said rather abruptly. "Let's get you two home, shall we?"

Following along behind the others, he was...slightly surprised by the darkness outside. It HAD been bordering sunset after dinner but...How long had he been out, exactly? "Y-yes..back to the tent..that sounds...good." He was reluctant to call it 'home'. It was just a cot in a tent, after all, and he had no real assurances that he would be allowed to stay. He already had one incident chalked up, after all. Nevertheless, he shuffled along behind his friends until tent #7 was once again in sight. And this time he kept a sharp eye out for rocks.

The walk back to the tent was a blur to Ayaka. She was vaguely aware of "Hero Boy" occasionally making comments about which roads to take and which not to, good shops to visit, and things like that, but all she picked up was the fact that he was talking. She was still feeling a little unsteady due to her experience with the so-called Jaunting Thing, though part of her was just amazed that she felt so ill from being carried. This didn't happen to most people, did it? But the medics had given her something to settle her queasiness, which she was going to take as soon as she had a chance to. They hadn't been in the cafe long enough for her to remember it. And then there was bed. She would be very glad to curl up under the covers and sleep away the rest of this insane day. It had been good, she thought - she was beginning to seriously reconsider what a "good" day was - but she'd had enough excitement for the time being. Hopefully tomorrow would be better. She was so lost in her own exhaustion that she was actually sort of surprised when they reached the tent. Hero Boy opened the flap for them - what was it with him and doing that? - and Ayaka gratefully ducked in... ... and immediately felt like collapsing right there on the "floor" and sobbing. She'd rushed off in such a hurry that she'd completely forgotten the mess she'd left in her corner of the tent! Her things were scattered everywhere, including all over her cot. Looks like I'm not going to sleep quite yet, she thought with a sigh. Takeo blinked lightly as Ayaka-chan practically dashed into the tent. She must have been more eager to get "home" than she had been letting on. "Well, tent sweet tent," he remarked to Tsutomegi before he was left standing outside a tent all alone. "I need to get home, but I'll see you guys around, eh?"

Nodding softly as he entered the tent, he turned back to Takeo. "Indeed.....and..thank you. I am...sorry for the trouble....I...caused." He shifted awkwardly from one foot to the other. "However...indirectly." He cast a glance over his shoulder at Ayaka-san, seemingly distraught. Had someone gone through her things? They were quite scattered....though...his own bundle seemed untouched... Turning back to Takeo, he bowed slightly. "Oyasumi, Takeo-sama."

Takeo grinned. " 'Night, Tsutomegi! Say G'night to Ayaka-chan for me too, will ya? Later!" And then he spun on his heel and set off towards home, already knowing he was going to be scolded for being late. Ah, well. The adventure had been worth it, after all. Ayaka heaved a heavy sigh, looking down at the cot in front of her with a rather bleak expression as she set down the fence post and tried to figure out what on earth to do with all this stuff. She'd been in a hurry to get to some clean clothes earlier, and... .... clean clothes... the bath house... ..... where was the bag with her things!? She thought she remembered having it with her when Shichuumaru-san found her, but after that... This night just kept getting better and better.

Turning as the other young man departed, he shuffled over quietly to his cot. And proceeded to flop backwards onto it. Pulling the pillow over his face, he just reveled in the darkness for a time. It had been so close...Had Ichi-sama been allowed to fully rampage....had someone of authority seen him...it would have been disastrous. He would have been lost without the help of his.....his friends. "Thank you.....Ayaka-san.." He stated quietly, slightly muffled by the pillow.

"... for what?" Ayaka asked confusedly, looking up from her disaster area of a cot at the boy across the aisle. "Throwing a fence at you?" She turned back to her cot, and a pile of balled-up clothes got shoved onto the "floor" as she spoke. "All I really did was follow him around and yell a bunch of stuff," she explained a little uncomfortably. The tea kettle with the hole in the bottom thudded into the pile of clothes, rolled off, and rolled a bit along the covered ground with a quiet, clanging sort of sound. The mateless geta followed it, along with a black and tan yukata her cousin had outgrown. She sighed, looking back on the day's events. "In the end, I really wasn't able to do much at all..."

"You...did more than you know." Utsuro stated, sitting up as he hugged the pillow to his chest. He really needed another shirt. "Had he rampaged for longer......no doubt the authorities would have....become involved." As he spoke, he began to pick at a loose thread on the corner of the pillow. "He could...have gotten me in a lot of trouble....again. But because you stood up to him... I may still have a chance here. So thank you."

She.... had really done that much? It was actually a bit more than Ayaka could wrap her head around at the moment. Had her selfishly making a nuisance of herself just to prove she could do something to help really done so much good? Still, Tsutomegi didn't seem like the type to exaggerate. At least not in the way she was used to. "It's... not like I was really able to do that much," she said quietly, feeling decidedly awkward at having such words directed at her. A curtain of red-orange hair slipped forward to hide her face as she focused her attention on the cot in front of her. Thinking back on it, the experience actually seemed quite terrifying. The way that Ichi person had handled her so effortlessly was a clear testament as to just how well she would have fared had he gotten it into his mind to really get her out of his way. She really would have been in a bad spot had Hero Boy not shown up when he did. "Still..." A dilapidated iron wind chime, seemingly quite old, rang faintly as Ayaka held it up for study. Why on earth had she brought this? "I'm... glad.. I was able to help," she said at last, with a genuine smile that came almost as much from being able to actually say those words as it did from actually helping someone.

Utsuro nodded, sinking back down onto the bed. "You really did..So...thank you again..." "I wish I could...repay you somehow....but...all I can really do...is let you rest peacefully.."

"Peacefully?" Ayaka asked as the wind chime clanged to the tent floor. She'd tried to be gentle with it, but iron wind chimes did tend to fall heavily no matter what one did. "More like a dead rock." ... wait... that really didn't make any sense, did it? Ayaka sighed, and several items found themselves on the floor in a great jumbled heap as she shoved them off her cot all at once. Taking things off one at a time was taking way too long, and she felt like she was going to fall asleep on her feet. A few stragglers - including a broken alarm clock, an empty, worn-out wallet, and the ever-present spare curtains - found their way to the floor, and Ayaka could finally turn back the covers and sit down on the cot. Had it always felt this luxurious? "Y'know, Tsutomegi," she began as she began the process of extricating herself from her new shoes, "You're weird. Y'know that?" First one shoe, then the other, fell to the floor as Ayaka swung her legs up onto the cot and began pulling at the covers. She paused, though, long enough to give Tsutomegi an odd look, head tilted to the side as though studying him. ".... I like you," she said at last, punctuating the seemingly random statement with a kurt nod as though the decision had been made and that was all there was to it. That said, she flopped down onto the cot, turned over to face the tent wall, and pulled the covers up right under her chin. "Well, 'night," came her already drowsy voice from somewhere behind a curtain of blankets and red-orange hair.

"....O..O....oyasumi..Ayaka-san..." The heck was THAT?!..I...have no idea..Utsuro sat for the longest time, just staring across the dimly lit tent, and even longer once the lantern had been snuffed out. He was weird. Nothing he had not been informed of before...and often in far harsher ways. But she liked him. Did she like him in spite of being strange? Was she able to look past his laundry list of faults and found something that she could live with? Did she like him BECAUSE he was strange? Was Ayaka-san merely fascinated with weird people, and would therefore dislike him were he normal? People are....very confusing..you said it, kid.Yawning, he laid back down on the cot, curling tightly into a ball out of reflex, and tried to get some sleep. Tomorrow was another day, after all.
