.... stories, huh? If only that kid knew. "Ah. Business, actually," Hideki replied casually, but immediately after his 'serious' face kicked in. "I need to speak with a girl named Ameno Ayaka. Have any of you seen her? I'm told she works here."

"Ehh? Aya-chan?" It wasn't all that surprising to hear his words echoed to some extent by the other two boys. Even Sensei managed to look mildly surprised. "She...should be back in a minute. Can't miss her. But...well, I guess you have your reasons...but...gah. Aya-chan?"

Jeeze, you'd think I wanted to do something violent to her. Well, I suppose it comes with the job title, but..."Relax," he insisted, "I already said I just wanted to talk to her. Ryuu, you of all people should know why they sent me instead of someone else, so don't look at me like that. So she's here, then?" "Actually..." the Uchiha boy put in, raising a finger to point somewhere over Hideki's left shoulder. Hideki turned and, sure enough, there was a very confused-looking teenage girl standing there. Her hair was tied back, which deviated slightly from the description he'd been given, but he hadn't ever seen anyone else with that hair color. Not in Konoha, anyways. "You... wanted... to see me?" she asked, obviously not sure what to think of the situation. "Ameno Ayaka-kun?" She nodded, but otherwise gave no response. "Then yes. I was sent to speak with you about a few safety precautions we're taking with people coming into Konoha. And there was also something else that needed to be cleared up, too. Do you have a few minutes?" She obviously knew what needed to be cleared up, or at least suspected, because her eyes widened slightly and he could have sworn her face became a shade paler. "Ah. Y-yes! I'll talk to my boss and find a place where we can speak in private." He nodded, and she scurried off. That meant all there was to do in the meantime was wait. He sort of wanted to inquire why Ryuu of all people was sharing a table with a bunch of kids, but for one thing, he had already gone into business mode (which made it hard to strike up a friendly conversation), but also, he probably wasn't the most popular person in the restaurant right now. Best to keep quiet and wait as calmly as possible until one of the others said something or Ayaka-kun came back for him.

"Indeed, my friend. Indeed. She's such a sweet girl, you'll have to excuse my defensive nature. I've grown a bit fond of her, really." He most definitely was interested in what his former teammate found out from the girl, though. Hopefully he would be willing to share the information afterward. "Oh. Mind the hair. She's a bit touchy about it."

"I'll keep that in mind," Hideki assured Ryuu, shifting a little where he stood. It shouldn't be long before... "Uhm, excuse me, but..." Hideki turned and came face to face with an increasingly nervous-looking Ayaka-kun. At this rate he might have to use a mild Genjutsu just to get the poor thing to relax so she wouldn't faint on him. "All ready, then?" he asked, and received a nod in reply. "We can use the back room. It's this way."Takeo watched for a long moment as Aya-chan led the Tensei interrogator off towards the back of the cafe. Just what on earth...? This made no sense. At all. ".... the hell was that all about?" he asked at last, still staring towards the back of the cafe with a concerned expression.

"I wish I knew...I could understand it if he had come to speak with me..but..Ayaka-san?" Utsuro replied shortly after Takeo-sama, watching the back of cafe with a worried expression. " And why would an Interrogator wish to speak with you, exactly, Tsutomegi-kun?" Hitsuatsu-san inquired with a curious tone, resting his chin upon a palm as he turned to look at the boy. "Umm..well..I am from another ninja village...and..I was through several more in my travels. So I could understand if...they were suspicious of me, in light of recent events.."

"Well... he said it was something to do with what they're doing with everyone who's coming into the village," Takeo mused. "Has anything like that happened to you, Tsutomegi? And you're a Jounin, Hisuatsu-san. Do you know anything about this?"

"Ah..well..when I spoke with the Hokage, she mentioned concern over people having been Genjutsu'd into being spies without knowing they are...but..she checked me out right then and there in her office..so.. "Do you think it is the same thing? But why not wait until she was off work?" "That is quite probably the case, Tsutomegi-kun. As for the...urgency..I cannot really say. Either way, we have but two options." Ryuurei commented after finishing his cup of tea. "We wait for her, or we go about our business."

"Tch. What kinda choice is that supposed to be?" Takeo asked, giving Hisuatsu-san a weird look. "She's my friend. Obviously I'm gonna wait for her." Honestly! Like there was supposed to be any other choice. Well. He supposed he'd have to make do with leaving a message of concern and goodwill with the cafe's owner if he really had to skedaddle.... But he didn't, so he wouldn't. Uchiha Takeo would not budge from his seat in that booth until he saw his friend again. "And you three?"

"Yeah! I mean, she's all alone here, isn't she?" Shichuumaru chimed in. What's more, he had lunch on the line here, even if Aya-chan weren't involved! "Someone's gotta stick around, make sure she feels like people care about her! What kinda creeps would we come off as if she came back and we'd all beat feet?" " Buu!!" "The insect makes a compelling argument." Ryuurei smirked, avoiding the glare from his student. Like he could remember the ridiculously long biological classification of the thing. There was a discussion going on around him, but Utsuro really could barely hear it. He sat in his booth, gray eyes fixated on the spot Ayaka-san and Tensei-san had disappeared to. Barely moving, barely blinking, he waited for his friend, so he could see her smile again.

As much as Takeo tried to keep the conversation going with various snatches of small talk, the atmosphere just didn't seem right. Not with what was going on and all. The boy from earlier - Hikaru? - brought out Shichuumaru's lunch since Aya-chan was busy, and even he looked a little unsettled. It wasn't long before he slipped into an uncomfortable silence, waiting for two certain people to come out. "Thank you for your concern, Hideki-san, but I'll be fine." Did she really look that bad? When she'd found out the village was concerned about her father's origins, Ayaka had felt ready to faint. Would they kick her out because they thought she was a spy? She'd heard people talking about spies and stuff like that. She'd obviously never had to think about that kind of thing, but in a place like this that had just come out of a war, it made sense. Either way, their little chat - and whatever it was Hideki-san had done with that "special technique" of his, had cleared everything up, and Ayaka was told she would be allowed to stay. And so, as she made her way out of the back room with Hideki-san, despite being unsure how long her legs would continue to support her, there was one expression showing quite strongly on her face: Relief.

"Woo! Thanks man!" Shichuumaru grinned, momentarily forgetting the serious situation as he dove into his newly arrived lunch. Each meal only happened once, after all, so it had to be enjoyed to its fullest! Besides, there was always the slim chance Aya-chan might be offended if he didn't like the food here....not that it seemed like that was going to be much of a problem. "A..ah...There she is.." Surely the others had noticed, but Utsuro had felt like speaking up just to be safe. The booth had grown eerily quiet....especially after Kyousei-san had gotten his food. Not that it had lasted long. At first glance, though, everything seemed fine. Ayaka-san did not look any worse for the wear, in fact seemed quite relieved. Then again, in such a situation, he would be as well. But then he saw it. A subtle trembling in her knees. She was in danger of falling, and he couldn't be sure if anyone else had seen it. Surely they were more perceptive than him..but then again, most of them could look people in the eyes as well and generally not look to the lower portions of people by default. But even if her legs did give out, there was no feasible way he could get to her in time..

"Phew," Takeo sighed, quite obviously relieved. "Seems like it went well. Thank goodness." A quick visual sweep of the cafe told Ayaka that the customers were all taken care of for now. No one seemed ready for their bill - except maybe her friends, whom she gave a weak grin and a little wave when her gaze crossed their table - and no one was looking around like they wanted to get her attention. Thank goodness...The fact that no one needed her meant that Ayaka was allowed to sit down for a little while, which she definitely needed right about now. And so it was with great relief that she slumped down onto one of the stools at the cafe's counter, rested her elbows on its surface, and rested her head in her palms. Just a few minutes. Just a few minutes, and she could get back to work. His work done, and the poor girl safely sitting down, Hideki saw his chance. Now, while everyone was focused on their red-haired friend, he could subtly slip out and avoid any future awkwardness. He was not likely to be very popular with the younger population of that table, after all, so he took his chance and made a quiet exit.

There was a sudden and distinct lack of his former teammate in the cafe, and Ryuurei could not have agreed more with the motivation behind such an action. He highly doubted the boys would even notice until well after the fact, and even then be glad to have such an oppressive presence gone. Such a shame, really, that their opinion of Hideki was already so tainted to such a gloomy outlook. But far be it from him to discredit the interrogator with the admittedly hilarious stories he had in his arsenal. Not today, at least. .....How on earth had Tsutomegi gotten out of the booth?! Yer something else sometimes, kid.....What?Nevermind."Ayaka-san...are you all right?" Utsuro asked quietly, his shuffling steps easily announcing his approach, so there was nothing to fear for startling her by resting a hand on her shoulder. "Is...everything..okay?"

"What the!? How'd he do that!?" Takeo exclaimed, jumping in surprise and almost banging his legs on the table. "Jeez, what's up with that kid? I seriously need to start keeping the Sharingan on every time I'm around him." "Eh?" Ayaka blinked, coming back to reality at the sound of a familiar voice. The sudden presence of a hand on her shoulder startled her at first, but as soon as she realized whose it was, she took comfort in its presence. Her friend had come for her again. "Ah... Yes," she assured him softly, offering a faint smile. "I just got a little nervous, but Hideki-san was very kind. And he said I can stay in Konoha."
