The HECK are you doing?! She's singing, get the-Quiet.Utsuro felt completely lost, and for the moment, he could care less. He curled tighter against her, wanting nothing more than to be completely enveloped in her arms and hide from the world there, listening to her song. A distant part of him spoke warning against being so careless and relaxed in the presence of a Tensei...of the Hokage, but it was drowned out by the warmth that was flooding through him, one completely disconnected from his constant companion. Besides. This was not the Hokage, perhaps not even a Tensei at the moment. This was...someone else. Who felt familiar, right down to the melody she hummed..felt like.. Home.

There was something almost magical about the moment shared between the two of them in that hospital room, something that made the two of them something other than doctor and patient, or even Kage and villager. If anything, it felt to Kaori more like how such a moment might feel between mother and son, though she wouldn't dare speak such a thing for fear of making Tsutomegi-kun faint again. And so she held on to him securely, humming and stroking, stroking and humming, until Tsutomegi-kun began to settle down, and when his breathing began to sound more even and controlled, she finally allowed her song to fade away. For now, at least, the moment was over.

Even after the last notes of the lullaby had dispersed far beyond the ability to be heard, Utsuro did not move. It was almost enough to cause concern over whether the boy was still awake, as even and rhythmic as his breathing had become. In time, though, he finally spoke, as quiet as ever though perhaps not as reserved, potent despite the brevity of the statement. "Thank you." Simple.. pure.. and punctuated by, of all things, the squeeze of a hug.

Tsutomegi-kun took Kaori by surprise when he hugged her, but Kaori was only happy to return the gesture. For Tsutomegi-kun of all people to be the one to initiate such a gesture was, Kaori thought, perhaps the most profound expression of trust anyone had ever made to her. "You are quite welcome, Utsuro-kun," she finally replied in a soft, warm tone of voice. "Remember, you're not alone anymore. You don't have to face all of this on your own. I am here for you. As are, I believe, your new friends, yes?"

Not alone. There it was again, that warmth, that feeling of...what was it. Hope? The Tsutomegi boy smiled, far brighter than was normal for the incredibly timid person. "Yes. My friendsssssssaaaahh!" Gray orbs widening in shock, he bolted upright, narrowly avoiding any sort of strike on the Hokage's person in the process. "Takeo-sama and Ayaka-san! They are still waiting outside!"

Kaori just smiled. "Well, then," she stated. "Let's let them back in, shall we?" She was as good as her word, getting up to let the two youngsters back in. She had barely opened the door an inch, though, when it tore out of her hand, rebounded off the wall with a BANG, and a red-orange blur shot past her into the room. Kaori didn't even get a chance to get a second look, because the hallway was in total chaos, with people running around and shouting... and was that the sound of a crow cawing? Inside the hospital? What on earth... As soon as the door opened Ayaka found herself at Tsutomegi's side once again, arms wrapped securely around his middle. "I'm so sorry," she sobbed into his chest. "I'm so sorry they did those awful things to you!"

The sudden impact of one Ayaka-san against his chest was more shocking than it was anything else, and as the material of the hospital shirt grew damp with what was apparently her tears, Utsuro placed a comforting hand upon her back. "So..you heard....all of that, huh.." The words softly flowed down to her. He hadn't wanted to burden her with such a tale, but it seemed she had been able to listen through the door anyway. That she was crying, over him at that, just served to reaffirm his opinion that she was a good and caring individual. Someone he definitely wanted to have around as a friend. The hallway was a place of sheer madness at the moment, and were she to take a moment to ponder it, it was more than likely true that Atsuko was most definitely NOT helping matters any. Regardless, she had been trying to help, visiting sick and injured villagers, trying to be cheerful and raise their spirits a bit, but then... " Caaaawwwawawawww!!" "YOU!" Chubby finger pointed defiantly at the black menace, her eyes glared far more vitriolically than one so young should be capable of. Was that stupid crow LAUGHING at her? "You are gonna wreck EVERYTHING! SCRAM!!" A waiting-room book clutched in her hand flew through the air and narrowly missed colliding soundly with the bird's head, at which point it took wing, high-tailing it out the nearest window. With a huff, Atsuko dropped into a chair, pulled out and unwrapped a sucker in one smooth motion, and shoved it in her mouth. "Sthupid kawasthu.."

Ayaka nodded. "I-I didn't mean to," she managed somehow between sobs, "but I.. spilled the drink Takeo-kun got me, and I was... cleaning it up, a-and, I got close to the door, and.... I j-just... I just heard. "It's not f-fair! How... How c-could they... do such awful things? It's not fair!" "Leave me ALONE, dammit!" Takeo shouted at the crow, which seemed intent on following him. Even charging the thing just made it dodge, sending him into a rack of medical records, which the bird then landed on top of. By this point, the entire hallway was in an uproar, with people trying to shoo the thing out. But it was intent, for whatever reason, on Uchiha Takeo. Until a random little girl threw a book at it and somehow got the thing to leave. .... what on earth had just happened here?

"People....there are all kinds in the world. Some good...some neutral...some....less than good. To him.." Utsuro paused for a moment, trying to think of how to word it. His hand lightly rubbed his distraught friend's back, perhaps that would help calm her. "I was a puzzle to him. He...wanted to figure out how I...worked...so...he..tried to take me apart. I am fine now, though. Hokage-sama fixed all the damage he did." He offered her with a faint smile at the end. He could not excuse what the 'doctor' had done, but he did need to move past it, at least for Ayaka-san's sake. Wahh! She'd gotten in such a huff, she'd almost forgotten! Hopping up out of the chair, she quickly rushed to the young man who the crow had been so mercilessly heckling. "Are you okay? That mean crow didn't peck at you or anything, did it?" Fussing in an almost matronly fashion, Atsuko looked over his arms and at his head. Black hair, dark eyes..what clan was it that he was from? Uuuu-something... "Do you have a worm in your hair or something? Or do crows just like you for some silly reason?"

Slowly, with Tsutomegi's reassurances and his soothing gestures, Ayaka found herself starting to calm down. Her tears halted for the most part, and though a little gasp escaped her every now and then, for the most part, her breathing returned to normal. "Really?" she asked. "So... you're okay now?" "I don't even want to know," Takeo sighed, picking him up from the wreckage of the cart and turning to try and right as much of the damage as he could. "Dumb thing's been following me around for a while now. I have no idea why."

Nodding, he tried to brighten his smile, just a little, for her. "Hokage-sama said I will be just fine once I finish healing and go through some therapy." "Huh.." Was her first and simplest response, moving to help him fix things up a bit. Uwa....Uriha.. Uchiha! Atsuko giggled slightly. THAT was it. " Do you owe him money or something? Okaasan always said crows were smart..maybe he's holding a grudge about something you've forgotten!"

"I see..." Ayaka replied thoughtfully. "And then you'll be able to come back, right? The tent isn't as fun without you there. It's all quiet and empty and lonely." "Something I've forgotten?" Takeo asked, thoughtful. "Well, I did leave my lunch at home today by mistake, but that's no reason for a crow to stalk me. Especially to the point of following me inside."

"I should be able to return to the tent in a day or so, actually. The therapy will be separate appointments, apparently. And that is only necessary because whatever that damage was, it was severely limiting my chakra capacity and use. I should be..stronger now, actually." Utsuro replied reassuringly. He did not want to leave Ayaka-san alone for so long, but unfortunately, it could not really be helped. "Besides, you have Taka-san and Onii-sama to look after you while I am still here." "Well, I mean, maybe you threw a rock and hit it without knowing? Or wrecked its nest while climbing a tree? I dunno." The small girl shrugged, sticking her tongue out at the Uchiha boy. "Maybe you're just weeeeiiird and crows like you!"

"Well, that's true," Ayaka agreed. "Oni-san is a great guardian, and Taka-kun is great at keeping people company. And I'm glad there are people here in the hospital who can help you get better. But still, I'll be glad when you'll be better enough to come back to the tent. "But... will you really be even stronger now?" she asked, looking a little amazed. "That's pretty awesome, Tsutomegi..." "Why on earth would crows like me?" Takeo asked, giving the girl a grin. His speech patterns seemed to have shifted somehow in the midst of talking to this girl about his strange affinity for crows, but it felt natural enough, so he just went with it. It was fun trying new things. "That's pretty silly, don't you think?" he asked. "After all, they used to treat me like they do everyone else."

"Hokage-sama said I would be...or at least, said something to that effect, anyway. I was..being hindered by my injuries. Ones I had no clue I had." Utsuro nodded affirmatively. "And it is Hokage-sama...so...I can trust what she says, I think." Trust. It had always been such an alien concept to him, especially after the incident several years ago. He had been hurt before...many times...by trusting, but perhaps it was time to try again. Things would be different this time.....right? The shift was easy. Natural even, skipping not so much as a beat as she responded to him. Shrugging her tiny shoulders, she finished helping clean up the mess. "Maybe something changed?" Pushing up and dusting off her knees, the girl grinned, giggling slightly. "Maybe it's your destiny! Lord of the Crows!" A childishly dynamic pose was struck, defiantly pointing to the sky.
