Okay, weird title, even weirder subject.
After rereading some of the Harry Potter books, It began to dawn on me the subtle, (and sometimes outright) similarities between the adventures of our favourite ninja and everyones fav teen wizard!
Case in Point.
The Hero:
-Both Naruto and Harry have broken childhoods as a result of mysterious happenings.
-Both characters leave these events with physical markings (Harry's scar and Naruto's binding seal).
-Both characters have moments of realization that they are intended for much more (Harry's realization that he's a wizard and Naruto's discovery of the Kyubi).
The Mentor:
-Alright, Dumbledore and the third Hokage are...both old? No, I can do better than that.
-Both are knowledgable in an amazing amount of techniques.
-Both were involved in the previous conflict (and teaching) of the series lead villain.
The Villian:
-Both snake-like (Voldemort and Orochimaru)
-Both need physical bodies to symbiose off of to survive.
-Both have traitorous minions/sidekicks (Wormtongue and Kabuto)
The Techniques:
look at it this way, are ninjitsu and magic all that different? Both require a physical element (hand seals vs. wand) and sometimes a verbal element (name of technique vs spell incantation).
Both taught to the students at young ages, both used in everyday life.
The similarities seemed very striking to me. Do they mean there's something between the two series? Heck no, I just felt like mentioning this.
Anybody agree/disagree? Comments?

I noticed the similarities between Orochi and Voldy too when reading the HP Series, but not the others. Well, at least Ron isn't deciding to follow Voldemort so he can obtain power and get revenge on his older brother... XD

I sorta felt that too, actually. I just finished reading Order Of The Phoenix, and when I walked away from it... I couldn't help but think Naruto... and vice versa. You've got the girl (Sakura and Hermione... Hermy... LOL) who always seems to be the smart one.
I also remember one of the earlier chapters, when they had special interviews with Kishimoto, and he said something about fearing he'd be making a manga that would seem a lot like Harry Potter (or something, I forget lol)... and I couldn't help but think of the comparisons between the two.

Now, aanother similarity would would be that both series...would work well with PUPPETS!!!!
;D The Potter Puppet Pals worked out so well, why not with Naruto?

Let's go bother Snape!
Now that you mention it, there are a good deal of similarities. I think Orochi and Voldemort are probably the most obvious, though....

definetly.
Alrighty, now HP has Quidditch, but is their any big sporting event in Naruto?
In fact, do these ninja children have anything to distract them from the day to day life of being hired assassins?
Maybe they're just not big on sports.
One thing they do have in common tho, is cool collectable cards!
Harry Potter has its Chocolate Frog famous witch and wizard cards
Naruto has...um, those cool, chakra controlled nin info cards of Kabuto's. Those things rock!
Man, maybe that's how He and Orochimaru could finance their evil deeds: A collectable card game!
Why didn't they think of that?!

They could hire all the strong ninja's to kill naruto, but naruto would still kick their booties!

Heck yeah.
Hmm. You know, something tells me that shinobi just don't really put much stock in fun. They're all "don't show any emotion" and "look beyond" blah blah.
Maybe they should all go play some football. And by football, I mean soccer.
BADMINTON! Next time on Naruto: The Epic Badminton Tournament! Sasuke v. Naruto!
Or... not.

Well, they did skip Prince Of Tennis for their hour long specials...
They've got the Chuunin exam in terms of a big event I guess.
Not too fun for the kids tho, I imagine.
How about they play the greatest sport ever created:
Calvinball!
