While it may have RPG-style elements (some Naruto games do), the Gekitou Ninja Taisen series have all been fighting titles - and really good ones, at that.

there have been some people who complain about the gekitou ninja taisen series but their complaints are often invalid. Such as claiming it's not as fun as the Ps2 games. I've played a narutimett hero game and didn't really like it but I LOVED ninja taisen. So much so I bought it and the next game released and earned all the characters. So personally you can see my answer to that question. The other complaint is that it's unbalanced. (Adam, by the way is almost famous for picking the CHEAPEST characters in a fighting game) There are some characters that are higher tiers than others, but let's be honest here, in early naruto Sakura SUCKED. And honestly, having Kyuubi Naruto and Curse seal sasuke on an equal level with Chouji. I kick very high level butt in it. I'm not COMPLETELY undefeatable, but pretty close.

Yeah, except it's not that fun playing against cheap characters. At least it's not as bad as soul calibur. some characters are just so much better than others. and some characters are better against some than others. So if you're character A. fighting Character B is easy, but not if you're character C.
