Yep, I think most of the time when I have insomnia, it's because I've consumed too much caffeine containing products, like chocolate and Coca-cola. I don't generally get up though, I just try to sleep.

Yeah, even if you aren't asleep, just lying still and resting does make a difference.
What's worst is when you're sick and can't sleep, so you take a medicine like NyQuil. Then you get used to having it so you can't go to sleep when you're well and no longer taking the medicine.
Bleh.

PlayStation fixes my boredom when I can't sleep.
It's when I can't sleep and I know I'm SUPPOSED to sleep due to me having work the next day or something... THAT'S when it annoys me. XD
I generally find that, strangely enough... products that are supposed to put me to sleep have an opposite effect on me, and vice versa. I've never tried having a coffee when I want to sleep, but every time I have a coffee during the day at work it makes me really tired afterwards. Perhaps it does have a wake-up effect on me at some stage, but that I've noticed... which is why I try and avoid having coffee at work, unless I want to relax - breakfast time is the best time ever! XD
But yeah. Like I said, if I can't sleep and I'm supposed to be, I just bear it, lie in bed until I fall asleep - even if it takes me three hours and I feel like trash the next day.
If I have nothing to do the next day, then I love that feeling of not sleeping... XD
