This movie looks awesome. I saw a preview for it when I went to go see Sweeney Todd, and it definitely looks like an awesome thriller. I'll be there, hopefully, to see it in theaters.

I...am very much on the fence about this movie. I saw a teaser trailer that consisted of a bunch of jumpy shots...and then a short clip of two haz-mat dude sillouettes restraining a female sillouette going "We've got a bite!!"
the seconds proceeding that feature the female sillouette swelling up, followed by the screen going black and a very...wet...popping sound.
Yeeeeaaaaaaaah....
Saw a mock trailer though, where the monster was supposedly revealed, and they flawlessly edited in the scene from Ghostbusters where they first show the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man XD

Yeah. That girl's head exploded.
I definitely don't want to see it. Just watching the previews made me motion sick. I had my brother tell me about it after he saw it, and it really just made me want to see it even less. As much money as it's grossing, it sounds like a cheap, poor excuse for entertainment with a vague story that fails to actually reveal anything or tie anything up.
As it is, I'm tired of crappy endings and a lack of tying up storylines. But if you're into that sort of thing and don't care about wasting a few hours and money on a low-budget, overrated, unoriginal thriller, feel free. My retard brother, after all, really enjoyed it.

Interesting. I found this the other day. It's pretty interesting. Also, I don't know if they use that song in the movie or not, but I like it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0_cCM2y38Q

Well, I've actually seen the movie.
And I don't care what my dear Kiri says. Clearly, she does not know nor understand the beauty that is Cloverfield.
Does it have a happy ending? No. But generally movies shot from a first-person POV don't. And Hudd was hilarious.
Don't know who Hudd is? GO SEE THE MOVIE.
As for it being cheap? WATCH THE MOVIE. Sure, it's shot from a first-person perspective, but that does NOT make the movie cheap. What it does do is create a lot of suspense. You don't see anything except for what goes through the camera. You don't have the usual advantage audiences have of getting that third person angle.
What you do get is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL thriller. I've been looking so long for a movie that had just enough suspense to keep you on your toes the entire movie. And I actually enjoyed myself the entire time. And, counting my friends that were with me, we were the ONLY ones in the theatre. Usually you jump and such as a sort of mass mentality. This movie had you entranced, even without a bunch of people around you.
In short, go see it. GO. FRICKING. SEE IT. Take a dremamine or whatever if you're afraid of motion sickness or whatever, but you owe it to yourself as a movie-going citizen to see this movie.
Go.
Don't walk. RUN. To this movie. Right now. Put on your coat, grab ten bucks, get your keys, get into your car, and GO SEE THIS MOVIE.
Thank you, that is all.

I'll pass. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I just don't see anything artful or original about it, therefore I'm not interested.

Well, uh.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Chubee. ^^;
Honestly, I'm kind of nervous about the motion-sickness rumors, but I do wanna see this movie. But I will by no means hold anything against the people who don't want to.

Thank you. Even though I do so enjoy being railed at for my entertainment preferences.

I'LL RAIL AT YOU TWINNIE.
Back in the world of topic.... I haven't seen the movie yet. The trailer made it look good though. It's somewhere on my list of "Wouldn't mind seeing if I somehow got my hands on it". XD

Speaking of which.... I saw this movie not too long ago. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Initially, I thought it was going to be really good when I saw the trailer at Sweeney Todd (<3 K-chan!). It looked really interesting. Then, once people (LIKE MY COOL TWINNIE) started saying the movie wasn't that great, I wasn't looking forward to it so much. As a result, my expectations were lowered, so when I finally saw Cloverfield... the movie exceeded them. Lol. Really, the movie isn't as bad as it sounds. Sure, it's not the greatest thing ever... and I wouldn't recommend anybody actually pay to see it. XD But if it shows up on television one night or something, it's worth a watch. Parts of it are very well-executed. While they're fairly predictable, the movie has its moments of suspense. All-round, it's not a very scary movie, but it still finds magic every now and then. The movie's biggest fault is also one of its biggest strengths, I found. As people mentioned before, the story isn't really tied up by the end of it - in fact, nothing really gets explained at all. The presentation of the whole story - as a 'classified video tape that's been recovered' - works really well for the hour and a half that the movie screens... but due to this nature of storytelling, you don't find out anything afterwards. Especially towards the end, the movie feels like it unlocks this great universe underneath the main story - so much potential which never gets explored. I suppose that's what the sequel's for, though. Beh.
I did, however, find the underlying 'potential' universe intriguing.... I think that's what makes the movie as strong as it is. Oh, and by the way... I didn't get motion sickness. The first-person cinematography, while it seems cool or 'revolutionary' as some might say... is actually kinda annoying. It's an interesting way of doing it, but there were some scenes which would have been better explained by more conventional, external camera angles. I think the idea is more to feel like you're actually a part of the action, like you're IN the movie.... but really, the camera angle makes it feel more like you're being taken for a ride. There are some scenes where I was like "Well come on, look in a different direction because I want to see what's happening". It just feels, very unnatural and scripted. Bring back your typical camera shots please. lol. Um. Yeah. It wasn't too bad. Really. Take it from me... don't bother paying to see it, but if you have the chance to see it for free, it's not so bad. XD
