Ahhh. Maz's home. The RTS thread. XD
So, as I've said in other threads, I love above almost everything else (except perhaps a girlfriend and some RPGs. Oh, and my good friends at Konoha of course. ;D) strategy games.
Over the course of my Cisco studies, I came across an old game I hadn't played in a LONG time -- Civilization II (don't ask how video games made it into my Cisco studies. People will tell you I learned everything I know from video games. XDXP).. thus I was inspired to create this thread.
So, this thread covers strategy games of any sort. I'm a fan of Warcraft III, Command & Conquer series (haven't yet played Generals though). I'm a fan of turn-based games as well... I loved Heroes of Might and Magic, and of course, Civilization and its sequel. It's amazing how many hours of one's study time a game of Civ2 will take up. I almost had nuclear weapons too... aieee... you think the Russians were bad in the Space Race? Watch out for them Greeks. XD
Am I alone in my love for strategic conquest over my enemies? Will this thread drop further down the list to... *gasp!*.... The Second Page!

Ooh, Caesar III. I almost forgot about that. That game was brilliant.
I also had another game called Zeus. That was much the same as Caesar... only it was for the Greeks instead. You built your city from scratch... you had two types of housing you could build: normal housing or elite housing, for your military units (I think). And much the same as Caesar, you provided farms to produce wheat... vineyards to harvest grapes for wine... provided bathing facilities, entertainment... and access to religion, in the form of temples and sanctuaries. Sometimes monsters terrorised your city though... like the Medusa or Cerberus. And you had to call heroes to your town and fight them off with the appropriate hero (Hercules, for example, would help fight off Cerberus. Perseus would take care of Medusa. etc. etc.)
Sanctuaries were awesome: they took up like, a quarter of your town... lol... not quite... but you built a sanctuary to a god (let's say, Ares, god of war)... and you could pray to them. If they heard your prayer, they would bless you. Different gods gave different blessings. Ares, for example, would walk with your soldiers to war, and any battle you got into, Ares would turn things in your favour (read: you'd win). Dionysus, god of wine, would fill your warehouses with wine. Artemis, goddess of the hunt, would provide you with more animals to hunt, and therfore more food. She'd also be really nice and go kill any monsters terrorising your city. Poor little Cerberus. XD
Zeus was a great game though. Slightly more complicated, but slightly more enjoyable.

Yeah. I beleive you gave that to me and it didn't work on my computer. You never told me about what it was like though. I like the sound of having the gods coming through though. That'd be cool. Man. Its been yonks since I've played Sid Meirs game...so much so that I've spelt his surname wrong ^_^ In fact... I should change it...its so wrong. ^_^ What I meant was Civ 2. That was cool

Strategy games are typically the over the head sort of thing. Where you contol numerous units and give them commands in order to out-class the enemy. The most basic example I can think of (to give a comparison) is Chess. You have good units, and bad, and you can have them do individual things. However. This is on the computer XD, so its a little different. Care to help me Mazz? But yeah. Title examples include: Command and Conquer. Warcraft etc

Well, as I said. Chess is SORT of like it. But I take it that my description was enough for it ^_^. So, have you played any? (That you know of?)
