No! I was thoroughly annoyed as well. Seriously, wtf? Has 'Pain' had it in for Jiraiya for years or something? Why are all these bodies shinobi Jiraiya's fought??

Having said that... I think the reason he's going to die is a bit stupid. From what I can gather (which could be wrong, mind you!)... Jiraiya's going to figure out who Pain is, and... die in the process? So that Tsunade can use her special medical abilities on Jiraiya's corpse to... what, find out who the real bad guy is?

I sincerely hope I'm wrong. Trying to add another mystery onto who Pain really is is just... not satisfying nor interesting at all.

He should have some sort of cool hero death. Not... "I KNOW WHO PAIN IS.... blah".

And seriously, what the heck is the significance of "These are all guys I've fought before!"

I hope one of you can tell me how that's a revelation, 'cos right now I fail to understand why that's significant. XD



I think the biggest disappointment is that Jiraiya never gets to say who Pain 'really' is. I was expecting some sort of great revelation on the final page of the chapter... only for Jiraiya to just, get bashed. The thought of having to WAIT to find out what this revelation is more... frustrating than gripping or interesting. Kishimoto's gone about it the wrong way.... there's not much point in having a cliffhanger if it doesn't draw us to the next chapter, right?
