Half-skipping, half-dancing, Boomer jubilantly followed her teammates to the training ground. Enthusiasm bubbled up inside her as the infamous box was settled onto the ground. " It is time to begin! Is everyone ready?" Kotone-sensei asked, arms akimbo. "Alright! Ready and waiting, Sensei!" Came the very audible reply, pumping a fist into the air.

“Alright, then!” Kotone began, swaying side to side slightly, her eyes darting about the faces of her genin team, examining their facial expressions. “Today I'm going to be testing you on your ability to work together as a team, not only physically, but mentally. This exercise is designed to help you all learn to incorporate each other's strengths into a well-formulated plan. I'm going to give you a, uh... a “mission.” You'll have 4 hours to complete that “mission” and then we'll evaluate the outcome together. Any questions before I give you your mission?”

What kind of mission would require them to work together on an exclusively mental level, Hitomi wondered? Maybe Sensei had a puzzle for them to complete? That sounded fun; the Takamura tended to be pretty good at stuff like that. Of course, that was only one possibility. "I can't think of any questions, Sensei," Hitomi answered softly, staring curiously at the box. There was only one way to find out what they were going to do....

"No questions here, everything seems pretty cut-and-dry, Sensei!" Rocking on the balls of her feet, she could barely restrain her excitement. A mock-mission sounded fantastic! She was curious as to what her teammates were capable of...and more than a little anxious to show off her own skills....just a little. Not to mention, Kotone-sensei mentioned needing to formulate a plan. THAT was something she was good at. Looking over to Teruo-kun, Boomer grinned, waiting for him to respond so they could begin.

Physically was bad enough, but mentally? Teruo tapped his foot on the floor in an attempt to soothe his raging thoughts. The boy had never connected with anyone, not one single person. People just didn't get along with him. He was a weirdo. A looney. He talked too fast, made too much noise when he walked. He made no sense. He couldn't carry on a conversation for too long without getting distracted. Sometimes he even made them feel stupid, even though that was never his intention. No, people just didn't get along with him at all. Swallowing the bile that was rising in his throat from the mere thought of what could occur next, the boy nodded. He had to try. He had to try. He had to find a way to make this work. Closing his hands over the chains on his pants, he looked up at his sensei, looking pale in spite of his attempt to hide his horror. "Let's do this thing."

Kotone smiled. “Alright then! Here's the scenario...” She suddenly became very serious, and she began rubbing her gloved hands together as she shifted her weight back and forth from one leg to the other and then back again before starting to pace slowly in front of her new genin team. “There's a rogue shinobi on the loose in Rice Country, and it's your job to capture him and bring him back to the village for questioning... But... there's a problem. You won't be able to fight him face to face.” She paused momentarily to get a good look at her students' faces before continuing. “In order to capture him, you're going to have to set a trap. Not just any old plain trap, though... This trap has to incapacitate him enough to where you can haul him back to the village without any trouble. You'll be given supplies to use in setting this trap, but no further instructions will be available to you. How the trap is set up, and how it will be tripped is all up to you, however, if you do not work together in an efficient manner, the mission could very well fail.” She stopped pacing once she reached the box, picked it up. Walking towards the group, she spoke again. “This is a test to see how well you three will work together and how successfully you'll be able to bring all of your individual strengths together in order to accomplish a certain goal. Stopping a foot or so in front of the group of genin, she set the box down. “This box contains an assortment of supplies and materials you can work with to complete the mission. There is no real wrong way complete the task at hand just as long as it is successful.” Kotone took several steps back and pointed to an area of forest behind her. “That area of woods over there is where I want you to set up the trap. I don't want any stray villagers to wonder over here and end up getting hurt, so I've marked the area off. You'll have plenty of forest to work with, so no worries. You'll have four hours to complete the mission, no more... And so I won't overhear any of your plans, I'm going back to the village. I'll be back in four hours and we'll evaluate what you've done.” She smiled brightly at her students. “Any questions?" OoC: Y'all can plan your trap ICly in this thread, just in case you were wondering if I was gonna have you do it OoCly. Have fun with it! ^^

Setting up a trap, eh? This should be fun!Boomer thought to herself. Hmm.."Kotone-sensei? Do we know anything about this rogue ninja, to better plan the trap, or are we intel-less as to his or her capabilities. It's easier to plan a trap if you know what you're trying to catch, after all."

Teruo forced himself to focus while his new sensei explained the details of their mission, but once she got into it, he found it wasn't too hard to pay attention. Their assignment was actually extremely interesting, and for the first time, the Genin started to think that maybe he would be able to contribute something after all. He liked to play chess, and in a way, that was much the same as what they were doing. In the game, he had to "trap" his opponent's king, and while he got to use a series of moves instead of just one trap, it still had its similarities. Maybe he would be able to help his teammates, and then they would like him. Hearing Boomer ask if they knew anything about their quarry, he couldn't help speaking up. "Good question, Boomer-chyaaa.... ch... san!" Right. Not that familiar yet. His grandma always scolded him about that. "We have to set the most effective trap, after all!" the boy went on, posing dramatically. Realizing he had interrupted before his sensei could answer, he smiled nervously. "Oops, sorry, sensei."

Hitomi couldn't help but grin - just slightly - at her teammates' behavior. She still felt a little awkward, being with a team, but so far, thing seemed to be going well. Her teammates were smart - and fun - and Kotone-Sensei seemed like a very capable, intelligent, confident woman. All three of them were people Hitomi could learn from. She was sure of it. She, however, had nothing further to add to the conversation at this point, so instead, she simply looked to Kotone-sensei, awaiting her answer.
