Before her companion had much of a chance to reply, Kaori was struck with the sudden realization that if she didn't get to bed, she would fall over where she sat. Kozuki was right; she would spot such an ailment in anyone else a mile away and force them to bed, but she wouldn't herself even think of such a thing until everyone else was cared for first. Maybe it was a noble sentiment rooted deep in the heart of a medical specialist turned Hokage, but most likely it was just pure bullheaded stubbornness shown through not wanting to exhibit weakness in front of the Villagers. "Listen, I have to get to bed," she told the youngster, "but your presence here intrigues me. You're welcome to travel with us. In case you haven't noticed already, we're Konoha shinobi on a diplomatic mission to Hidden Sand. I'm Tensei Kaori, the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf. We should talk tomorrow. In the meantime, find a place to sleep. I can guarantee you're safer here than you would be anywhere else around here tonight." Digging in her belt pouch, she found a piece of paper and a pen. "What's your name?" she asked, and when he gave it, she wrote a rough imitation of the Visitor's Passes Konoha issued to its guests. Imitation though it was, with her personal signature, it carried more than enough weight. Putting away the pen, she handed the paper to him. "If anyone questions your presence here, show them that. It's your proof that you're allowed to be here, so don't lose it. The supply wagons will have a couple extra blankets, but those who have worse injuries are given top priority, so you may have to make do. Good night." The final words were both a blessing and a dismissal. As she watched him go, she couldn't help but wonder at the name he had given her. This will be very interesting, indeed....At last, she got up and went to bed. She was asleep before she could take her hair down. * * * * * Looking around at the campsite - she was the last up except for the ANBU, and they would be watching in shifts all night - Akina couldn't help but notice the Genin she had helped earlier. Fishing around in the lead wagon, she found an extra blanket and lay it over him. No use getting sick out here in the night weather, on top of the injury, she thought before heading to bed herself. It was good to be asleep. * * * * * Early morning. Kaori awoke to the sounds of camping - people talking, the clink of dishes, the usual subdued hubub of the early morning. She grimaced as soon as she felt the throbbing pain where she had slept on her hairsticks all night. Her hair was a disaster, she still felt half asleep, and her kimono was twisted and skewed beyond any hope of recognition or repair. In other words, she was a complete mess. Wait a minute.....!It was all she could do not to make any noise while getting ready. She did a good deal of hustling around, trying to make it seem like she had had all the time in the world to get ready. Akina's bedding, of course, was already folded up and stowed away in one of the little wagon's storage compartments. Why on earth hadn't the woman wakened her? At last she emerged, in her usual red-and-white ensemble, with her pale golden hair in a braid over her shoulder. Her hairsticks were stowed safely in their case in the wagon; she would need to doublecheck the poison they carried before equipping them again. And right now, she was going to have a few choice words with her assistant.

"Ack...me head! That was some fight." Kirei looked to her left to see both of her commrads standing next her, beckoning her to come over. It seemed that the Hokage was about to make a speech.
.............
"So, that explains what just happened, well guys, I think we should look for our sensei."

Kohana opened her eyes slowly, and gazed around the campsite. Rolling over onto her side, she groaned. "Ugh...My baaaaack......That's what I get for not using my bedding..."
"Goooood morning, sleepy head!" she heard someone call as they sat down next to her. "It's time to get up..."
Kohana flopped onto her back once again and her gaze met the fiery red eyes of the always perky Ryuji. "Good morning," she said, her voice somewhat raspy from sleeping with her mouth open. "What's for breakfast?"
Ryuji smiled. "Rice and miso soup...I made the miso myself!" he said, obviously proud of his accomplishment.
Kohana shuddered at the thought of Ryuji's cooking, but decided to suck it up. She was hungry and wanted something to eat badly. Actually, she had never tried anything Ryuji made himself, partly because she feared it would taste horrible and she'd end up having to eat it all to escape the guilt of making him feel bad. Now, she couldn't escape it...
"Sounds good," she replied sleepily as she sat up slowly, hearing her back crack a few times. Rather unpleasant... Looking around her, she noticed Aijou propped up against a tree behind her, dead asleep, his katana in hand. Smiling, she got up and placed the blanket she was using across her brother's shoulders. Plopping down on ground atop Aijou's purple jacket once again, she took her breakfast from Ryuji.
She wolfed down the rice, barely taking any time to chew. It was so goooooooooood! Then came the moment she dreaded most....the miso.... Her hands shook as she took the hot bowl from him. She tried to think of an excuse not to eat it. Nothing came. He wouldn't believe her if she said she was full from the rice.
Her lips quivered as she brought the bowl to her mouth to taste it. She didn't have a spoon... She closed her eyes tight as she took a small sip.
What's this? This is actually....REALLY GOOD! Kohana thought as she took another taste.
Haruki came and sat down next to Ryuji, who offered him a bowl of miso. Haruki took it, and began eating.
Kohana took the bowl away from her mouth and smiled. "This is really good, Ryuji!" she said excitedly. "Do you have any more?"
Ryuji nodded. "But finish that bowl first."
Haruki looked up to see Akina strolling by. "Oh, Akina-san! Would you care to join us for some rice and miso?"

Akina paused when she heard Haruki call her. A smile lit up her face when he invited her to breakfast. Her stomach grumbled as soon as she thought the word; she hadn't had dinner last night, and had barely had a decent lunch before that. She was starving! "I'd love to!" she chirped, taking a seat among the group. "Who's the chef?"

I'd love to! Akina said chipperly as she took a seat with the group. Who's the chef?
Ryuji perked up at the sound of Akina's voice. "I am, Akina-chan!" she said as he handed her a bowl of rice. "After you finish the rice, you'll have to try the miso! I made it myself!" He smiled brightly, quite proud of himself.

"Thank you very much!" Akina said with a smile. "I look forward to it. Itadakimasu!" the bowl was empty in record speed, just barely slow enough to still be polite, her stomach growling for more. "Eheheheh..." she laughed, somewhat embarrassed. "Medical work sure makes me hungry!" She poked the empty bowl with her chopsticks, and actually seemed a little disappointed when she couldn't scrape any more hidden grains of rice out of it.

Nadameru awoke after a night of fitful sleep. Yawning and sitting up, she tried to work the kinks out of her back. No matter how much she was forced to do it, she doubted she would ever actually get used to sleeping on the ground. As she got to her feet, she stretched and gave another great yawn.
Running a hand through her disheveled, tangled hair, she pulled out her hair bands. Long, blonde strands fell freely to her waist, twisting and sticking out every which way. Combing through the mess with her fingers as best she could, Nada quickly reigned it into a haphazard braid. She knew she must look a fright, but she could worry about her looks later, when they reached their destination. For now, she just wanted some breakfast.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, the jounin gave a look around at the other members of the convoy that were stirring. Her gaze halted at the sight of Kohana, the Hokage's assistant, and Aijou's ANBU group gathered and enjoying what looked like rice and possibly miso. Her hunger caused her to draw closer to them, and she hoped that she was not being rude in doing so.
Giving as much of a smile as she could manage in the early morning hours, she greeted those gathered.
"Ohayo gozaimasu...."

He'd noticed everyone gathering around the fire earlier that night, but had not joined them himself. He felt like a traitor. He couldn't bring himself to even just sit with them. So instead he had remained a little bit off, back to them as he tightly held Hiromi, the only one left who felt like a friend, tightly to his chest. She shivered in his arms though the night had not been cold, and licked her injured front paw. There hadn't been anything he could do for her, and could only carry her the rest of the way.
Though he had not joined the group himself, his sharp hearing had picked up every word, and he bit his lip in tension, his fingers tightening around Hiromi, only stopping once she gave a small whine.
Blinking with surprise he glanced down at her and smiled, "Sorry Hiromi." he murmered and she licked him forgivingly on the chin. "Come on, let's get some sleep."
He'd remained by himself, the small black pup nestled in his lap, but he could not bring sleep to him. Instead he remained awake, dark eyes thinking. With a sigh he reached into his pouch and pulled out his forehead protector. There really wasn't any more use in hiding anymore, was there? He shook his head and hid his trophy away once again. Not yet.

Morning felt like a nightmare, wincing from the stiffness in his body Yaku sat up, scanning over those around him. He wore a strange, uncharacteristic face of solemness as he glanced around, memorizing the scents and studying those that surrounded him.
Silently he stood, picking up the still sleeping pup beside him and began to walk forward. He didn't really know where he was going, feeling like a stranger among his own friends. He stopped walking and blinked. Friends? Well...where were *they*?
Shaking his head he continued on, keeping an alert eye out.

Waking up from the strang position he had fallen asleep in, with his back to one of the remaining wagons, Masato stretched out the terrible pains in his body. Suddenly, the events of the previous day came back to him, and reality set in. Growling in rage, he punched the wagon's side, and then turned away. The sense of duty instilled into every Konoha shinobi returned to him, and he suddenly realized that he should have already rendezvoused with the members of his three man cell and reported to the Hokage. This in mind, he set off to locate first Yaku, and then Sorien. ****************** Masato noticed Yaku walking along the edge of the camp ahead, and he rushed forward, calling out, "Yaku! Are you alright?"

Woken from his thoughts by a familiar voice he glanced up to see as Masato was quickly making his way toward him. Strangely enough, his expression did not change as he started toward him, although Hiromi's ears did perk up as she gave the other boy a small yap of greeting.
Cuddling his pup closer to his chest he stopped as he approached Masato, "Hey." he said, voice a bit dull as he gave the other boy a nod of greeting. Other than that, he wasn't quite sure what else there was for him to say. He didn't have much to say to anybody, now did he? The same feeling of guilt from before surged through him and he flicked his dark eyes slightly off to the side.

"Hey," Masato replied, with a small smile for Hiromi. He began to speak again, then stopped and shuffled uncomfortably instead. He idly activated his Byakugan, and only then did he notice that Hiromi's paw seemed to be injured. "... Shouldn't you take Hiromi to see a medic nin? They're not exactly vets, but they can probably do something for her, right? There was some over that way," he said, pointing back the way he had came. "Meanwhile, I'm going to go try and find Sorien to make sure he's okay. I've found that the best way to get your mind off of something like this is to just throw yourself into something productive, and right now, our first priority should be making sure that everyone is alright. I'll meet you over where the medic nins were after I find Sorien-kun, alright?"

Masato's words seemed to strike a sensitive nerve and Yaku instantly tensed. Sensing his odd and changed attitude, Hiromi shifted uncomfortably, giving a small whine, but Yaku did not seem to register it at the moment.
"Yeah, you're right." he said as he turned, though not in the way that Masato had pointed out to him. His voice was icy. "Doing something productive, sure." For years Yaku had never let anyone other than his family's trusted veterinarian treat his dogs. He didn't see any reason to change that now. He would fix up her paw as best he could himself.

After a solemn night in thought, Sorien did what he usually did. Climb a tree. Not only because everynow and then he felt like doing so, but also due to the fact that most people don't tend to look up when they walk, so its somewhat safer too.
Finding a series of branches, within the dense bushy Rimu* tree, he lay onto them, and from his vantage point, he could see both the stars and the ground below. He chose the stars to watch. Sleep took Sorien at that stage, and it was only the first rays of sunlight that awoke him. Blinking a few times, to clear his eyes, he rolled over as much as he could, and studied the happenings below. There was some movement, as people began cooking, and locating others.
Somewhat in the mood he was the previous night, he turned back over and let the first rays of the morning sun warm his skin. Feeling somewhat more energised after that, he rolled back over once more, and looked at the activity below. Seeing Masato walking about, he aimed his voice at him.
"Yo"
*Rimu tree: This is a tree that is native to New Zealand. Full and bushy, and growing very straight and tall, it is often used in furniture, its truely very beautiful, both in wood, and in the tree itself.

"Yo."
Kiyo was startled by the sudden sound, nearly falling off his tree branch. "Wha-who said that?" he asked, looking around groggily.
Kiyo often slept in the trees. It wasn't to prove he was tough or anything, but more a way to avoid chores. If you ran into the forest and fell asleep in the trees, Grams wasn't as liable to find you. She did anyways, but it was a nice try, anyways.
He smiled. Remembering the good times with Grams made him feel better. But...something wasn't right. Ever since Grams' death, he'd slowly started getting visions of being...lost...as if he was in darkness. Sometimes, when trying to look back on old memories of his childhood with Grams, he realized...he couldn't. It was like...they never happened. Though how they could be fake he had no idea. They just didn't seem....real anymore.
Looking over at the man that had spoken, he recognized him as the man that had wielded fire so efficiently earlier. Best not to trouble him, considering he was talking to someone walking below them. Though why he was in the tree with Kiyo, Kiyo wasn't too sure about...

Akina looked up from her empty bowl at the sound of Homura-san's voice. "Ah, Nadameru! Ohayo!" she beamed. "Come sit down!" She patted the empty spot next to her for emphasis.
