Keitaro nodded.
"I could adjust the paper to let air out slowly so we could, like, go down."
He then looked to Kameko.
"We'll need to use your jutsu in a pinch if something happens."
Keitaro opened up the end of the balloon, motioning for them to grab hold.
"Okay, let's do this!"

"Hai!" Kameko agreed eagerly, "Let's gooooo!" she jumped into the air enthusiastically before taking hold of her spot on the balloon, bouncing eagerly on her toes. "We'll show Sensei just how great our teamwork is!"

"Okay," Nada acquiesced to the plan, shuffling close enough to take hold of the balloon with one hand. The other she closed into a fist and slipped through the opening at the bottom. Before doing anything else, she motioned with her head for Kei and Kameko to move with her closer to the roof's edge.
Concentrate, she told herself, trying to remember what her father had taught her. Slowly she began to focus her chakra toward her fist, raising its heat and simultaneously heating the air around it. She continued increasing it as much as she could, and after a few minutes the balloon started floating upwards. It was a few more seconds before she stopped, wanting to make sure there was enough lift there to help Kei-kun transport them safely without wearing himself out.
Letting the chakra escape from her hand and cool, she took hold of the balloon with it as well.
The rest was up to her teammates.

Kameko's stomach pulled a sommersault. They were flying! Their plan was working! Next was her turn. Focusing all her chakra into forming the jutsu. There were no hand seals; having them would just make the jutsu all but useless. There was, however, an incantation. As she spoke the words, she formed in her mind a mental image of their destination - the space above their meeting place.
"TANDEMU SHUNSHIN NO JUTSU!"
The sensation of Shunshin was one of the strangest Kameko felt. The jutsu's name translated to 'body flicker', and she suspected it wasn't just because of the external effect it had. When Kameko performed it, at least, it felt as if her entire existence were flickering - winking out and then reappearing at her chosen destination.
In just under a second - though she knew it could have been much faster had she been alone or had more chakra - they reappeared, floating above the empty space. It wasn't as far as she wanted to go, but they were over the general spot. Kameko's head spun; she had used up all of her chakra transporting all three of them plus balloon - and enough of the hot air inside it to keep them afloat - and reappearing always left her a little disoriented at first.
"The rest...." she said, the lack of energy showing through in her voice, "is up to you two!" It was time for her to simply focus on hanging on, and landing on her feet.
Kaori was almost done with a most intriguing chapter in her book when she heard a familar voice from above.
"TANDEMU SHUNSHIN NO JUTSU!"
"Impossible..." Kaori thought. They wouldn't.... Hoisting herself up through the branches to a spot where she had a clear view, she scanned the area for her team - and came upon one of the strangest sights she had ever seen. There was her team, in midair, floating above their meeting spot from some kind of strange balloon - odd, it almost looked like.... paper?
Well. Just thinking of that crazy stunt was enough to pass them. If they were that good at thinking out of the box, there was no telling what they'd be capable of with proper training.
Reprimanding herself for thinking too far ahead, Kaori snapped her mind back to the present - and keeping a close eye on her team, praying they had a good landing.

Almost there!
Keitaro nearly lost his concentration in keeping the balloon in its shape when they suddenly...shifted...to their mark. He tensed up, hanging on tight with his arms.
He looked across, barely hearing Kameko say something, seeing that she looked a lot less enthousiastic as when they had started. That technique...the shu...shu...something. It must be really hard on her body.
Fearing she was about to fall, Keitaro shouted.
"Everybody! Uh...lock your legs together! We'll support each other as we go down!"
With that, he squirmed a bit, managing to link both of his legs to either Nada and Kameko.
"Okay...I'm gonna let some of the hot air out! Get ready to touch down!"
He let go of the balloon with one hand, clapping it to the other, then touched the balloon.
A few stray sheets of paper blew away, causing the balloon to drop slowly...
...then a few more sheets...causing a more significant drop.
and then...
*Whump!*
The trio hit the ground with perhaps a little more force than they expected.
Keitaro lay in a heap along with his other teammates; their legs twisted and intertwined with each others.
Keitaro breathed a sigh of relief.
(eigo desu)
"Touchu Downu!"
and promptly fainted.

Following Kameko's shout, Nadameru found herself feeling terribly disoriented. The dizzying feeling nearly caused her to lose her grip, but she held it together. Seeing that her female teammate wasn't faring too well after the technique, she followed Kei's lead and linked her legs with the others'.
The landing came close to knocking the wind out of her.
"We made it!" she squeaked, breathing heavily. Squirming, she realized that she was still trapped, tangled up with the other two. Managing to extricate her legs from the jumble of six, it was then she realized Kei-kun had fainted. "Oh, no! Kei-kun!" Worried, she looked to Kameko to see if the girl was doing any better.
Maybe it had been too daunting a task after all.

Relief surged through Kameko the moment she felt her feet touch the ground. The rest of her followed, through she managed to avoid hitting the ground too hard. She leaned back, breathing heavily, staring blankly into the sky. "We.... we made it...."
"Indeed you did."
Kameko looked over to see her Sensei kneeling there, Keitaro-kun in her arms. He appeared to have fainted. Kaori-sensei must have caught him.
"And what a method you chose. I never imagined you all would pull a stunt like this, and to come up with it so quickly, too." Kameko grinned weakly. Sensei was pleased with them! "But you overdid it. All three of you are worn out, and Keitaro-kun here has fainted entirely."
Kameko struggled to sit up, fighting off the wave of dizziness that hit her. "Will he be all right, Sensei?" she asked worriedly.
"Of course, of course." With that, Kaori-sensei lay a gentle hand on Kei-kun's forehead and softly murmured something that sounded like the name of a jutsu. The woman nodded, seeminly satisfied with whatever it was she had done. Suddenly the hand Sensei had laid on her teammate's forehead lit up! It was surrounded with a greenish glow; Kameko was sure it must be chakra - but she had never encountered chakra like this before. Was this Medical Ninjutsu?
After a moment, the green glow faded and much to Kameko's excitement, Keitaro-kun began to wake up!
(Note: The Jutsu Kaori is using is her diagnostic Jutsu, just so y'all know.)

Keitaro's mind swirled a little in darkness.
He suddenly felt warm and secure.
His eyelids heavy, he slowly opened them.
"Nyan...nyan...nyandemo okashi..." he mumbled in a daze. Opening his his eyes, he began to stare...
...stare directly into the chest of his new sensei.
He blushed, seeing that he was hefted in her arms.
"Eh...ah..." he fumbled, looking at her.
"A-ano...I...um..."
He managed to get his feet on the ground, rubbing his head profusely, bowing.
"Ahahahahaha....I must have dozed off, er, that is, yeah..." he stuttered. He then struck a masculine pose.
"Most likely, my nearly perfect technique was so successful, and such a strain, that my body couldn't take it! Clearly that is the reason I passed out, yeah! I'm just that incredible of a shinobi! Yeah!"
He nodded to himself, hoping they bought it.
He'd hate to have them know he fainted from being absolutely frightened of hieghts.
"Yeah, so, um...we did it?"

Considering her sensei's commentary, she nodded slightly. Though she felt alright, her teammates had worn themselves out. There must have been something more she could have done to help them out. Maybe. Maybe there would have been another plan they could have come up with to make things easier.
She watched Kaori perform what she could only guess was some kind of medical jutsu on Kei, and was relieved to see him wake up.
Still, she couldn't decide if their sensei was happy with them or not. She seemed to be impressed with their methods, but she berated their poor execution. Or, at least, the affect it had had on them. Did that mean they failed? Or did they get a "pass" for effort?
She couldn't help giggling at Kei's theatrics. Smiling shyly, she said, "You were amazing, Kei-kun!"
Looking away quickly, embarrassed to find out what his reaction would be, she turned her attention to Kaori-sensei. They had done what she had asked. Did they pass...?

Kaori smiled at her team. "You may have overdone it a little bit, but that plan of yours was brilliant. Taking advantage of the buoyancy of hot air to get yourselves airborne - " here she gave an approving look to Nadameru " - teleportation to align yourselves with the proper landing place - " the warm gaze shifted to Kameko " - and slowly letting the hot air out, allowing for a descent - and locking your legs together to stabilize your landing." The smile rested for a moment on Keitaro before shifting back to the group as a whole. "Like I said before - you did wear yourselves out a little too much, but for this test, that doesn't matter as much. All in all, you showed incredible resourcefulness and the ability to work together as a team, maximizing each other's talents and abilities."
She paused here, giving her team a mischievous wink and a V-sign. "You pass!"

"You pass!" Kaori-sensei said, flashing them the sign for victory.
Keitaro jumped up and down, stomping his feet, grabbing Nada and Kameko's hands.
"Yeah! We did it! We're ninja!" he shouted exuberently.
"In your face, losers!" he shouted, pointing at the Hokage monument. "We're gonna be top notch ninja now!"
He quickly quieted, bowing to Kaori.
"I humbly accept your giving of a passing grade. Arigato Gozaimasu, Kaori-sensei." he said solemly.

"You pass!
Emitting a little squeal, Nada joined Kei in jumping up and down, giggling. Just like he said, they were real ninja now! They were a real team and they would get to go on missions together! She couldn't wait to tell her parents about the day. They'd surely be as impressed by the team's plan as her sensei had been.
At Kei's solemn words, she went quiet and bowed quickly to Kaori. "Arigato, sensei! I'll do my best!"

Kameko cheered loudly with her teammates, celebrating their passing of the test. "We did it! We did it! We-- " suddenly she realized that her teammates had gone quiet, bowing and thanking Kaori-sensei, and that she had been the only one cheering and carying on. Blushing furiously, she fell into a hurried bow. "Arigatou, Sensei!"
Kaori laughed as she watched their responses. She had felt the same way upon her becoming a Genin.
"Now," she told them. "Your first lesson." She watched as they all looked up at her. "Do you know what the best thing is to restore lost chakra?" She paused to let them think that over - and offer any suggestions, and then continued. "It's a free meal at Ichiraku Ramen!" she finished, grinning. "I need to report your passing the test to Hokage-sama. I'll meet you all at the ramen stand in a few minutes."
And with that, she was gone.

Keitaro nodded...
"The best thing to restore lost chakra...it's...lemme think..." he mumbled to himself.
"It's a free meal at Ichiraku ramen!" Kaori-sensei said.
"Oh..." Keitaro said quietly, "Yeah...I-I knew that..."

Nada tilted her head to the side. The best thing to restore lost chakra? ...food? Sleep?
"It's a free meal at Ichiraku ramen!" Sensei announced.
Nada grinned. She loved ramen!
A few more words and Kaori was gone. Turning to her new teammates, the girl beamed. The day had gone so well, she just couldn't stop smiling. Holding her hands out to her new teammates, she looked between the two of them.
"Shall we go?"
