OOC: Hey, I wasn't sure if this would really fall into a currnet storyline or not, so I figured I'd make it a little flashback to Keitaro's Chuunin days.
This partly explains the Buyo family a bit better as well as Keitaro's proficiency with weapons. So, here we go:
Natto again for breakfast...
Keitaro grimmaced as he stared into his small bowl of natto. There was just something about fermented soybeans in the morning that curdled his stomach.
"Mother...um...do I have to eat this?"
Keitaro's mother sat across from him. Her rusty red hair tied back in a small bun. She had a large, dusty book propped up against the kettle.
"Is there something wrong with my natto? I thought you liked it" She said absent mindedly.
Nothing could be farther from the truth... Keitaro thought.
"It's just...I'm not hungry this morning. Besides, I've got to go see brother" he said at last.
Keitaro's mother sighed. She did this whenever Keitaro's brother was brought up. He was something of a disgrace in the Buyo clan.
"If you must..." she said at last.
Keitaro pushed away from the table and ran towards the front door.
"Oh, dear, watch out for the overhang-"
Without fail, Keitaro smacked his head on the low door frame of the front door.
*********
Keitaro ran down the busy streets of Konoha, his ninja pouch clasped tightly in his hands. His glasses slightly askew, but his mood quite pleasent.
It was no secret that the Buyo clan were the chief historians of the Konoha Gakure. They were the book keepers and librairians of the village, preserving knowledge where ever possible. Every Buyo that was born eventually became part of this lifestyle.
Except for Keitaro's brother...
Ibukunee (eh-boo-koo-neh-ee) denounced the family tradition, saying that history was of less importance these days than the weapons and heroes that made it.
While Keitaro started out as a librairian, he had always looked up to his brother and his proffesion.
Ibukunee was now Konoha's chief smith.
Every kunai, shuriken and blade that was ever handled by a shinobi in this decade...was made by him.
