Name: Kuroshiro Teruo
Village: Sound
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Rank: Genin
Chakra Affinity: Wind
Height: 5'3"
Appearance: Quite short for a boy his age (he can only hope to have a growth spurt as he gets older), Teruo makes up for his lack of stature with his slightly outlandish fashion. Although he prefers to dress in all black, he also wears an assortment of spikes and chains on his person which jingle and clink as he moves, creating a sound that is soothing to him. The boy also has an array of piercings, including all up his left ear, a nose stud, lip rings, and two in each eyebrow. His hair is somewhat ostentatious as well in spite of its monochromatic color scheme, black on the right and white on the left; it is always disheveled, and usually styled straight up in soft spikes. Most entrancing, however, are his eyes, which are primarily white, save for a black ring inside of the iris. The dark eye makeup he often wears only causes them to stand out more. Even if his choice of self-decoration and natural features are of the gothic taste, his mocha skin and healthy, average build save him from too haunting an appearance. He uses his forehead protector as a belt, with pyramid studs over the bolts.

Personality: To call Teruo "eccentric" would be to find the kindest term available for him. For those meeting him for the first time, he can seem almost impossible to interact with, though it is not that he is unfriendly. With an IQ of over 190, Teruo's brain simply processes things faster than he can keep up with, resulting in what seems to be a bizarre tendency for random subject changes and the appearance of a terribly short attention span. The only method the young man has come up with to counteract this personal flaw lies in the noisy metallic substances he wears; for some reason the sound soothes him and calms his over-eager mind. To a lesser extent, he is able to distract himself by examining or organizing nearby objects to give his brain something to focus on.
Although Teruo has difficulty expressing how he feels, he certainly does have feelings. Instead of the over-analytical, emotionless genius that most imagine, Teruo tends to be overly charismatic about things, at times bordering on hyperactive. He can be slightly child-like in mentality, easily pleased by the simplest objects and gestures. As a friend (for those patient enough to get close to him) he is fiercely loyal, and reliable--as long as he can make himself focus on the task at hand. It goes without saying that strategy is his strong point, and like most in his clan, he is a killer opponent when it comes to chess.
Likes: Chess, Go, Shougi, puzzles of any kind, ice cream cones (really, just the cones)
Dislikes: Disorder, chaos, anything that doesn't readily make sense
Family:
Grandfather: Kuroshiro Hisoka
Grandmother: Kuroshiro Tsukiko
Mother: Kuroshiro Suzume
Father: Aori Ryuu
History: The beginning of Teru's life was heralded with an unfortunate love story, but, sadly, not an uncommon one. Kuroshiro Suzume met a rogue shinobi by the name of Aori Ryuu, and (to make a long story as short as it could be) fell hopelessly in love with him. Unfortunately for poor, misguided Suzu, Ryuu was hardly interested in love or anything like it, although he did a spectacular job of fooling her into thinking otherwise. It goes without saying, then, that he was less than pleased when informed that they would be having a child together. He disappeared soon after, much like a harrowing wind that blows through, then dissipates once it has done all the damage it can.
Left to parent their baby boy all on her own, Suzu did not handle things well. Looking after others had never been her strong point, and as he grew, little Teruo seemed to be even more demanding than most children. Always energetic, getting into everything, and overly eager to discover how the world worked, by the age of five he had disassembled anything in the house that could be taken apart. As if that wasn't bad enough, he rarely slept, spending most nights crying as he suffered from terrible headaches. Before his sixth birthday, his mother repeated his father's disappearing act, and tiny Teru was left alone for three days until his grandfather happened to stop by to check on them.
Being the kindhearted man that he is, Hisoka could see no alternative but for he and his wife, Tsukiko, to take the boy in. Teruo handled his mother's disappearance disturbingly well, almost as if he had not noticed her absence. As he grew under his grandparents' watchful eye, it became apparent that he simply had difficulty expressing himself, and had indeed felt a deep pain at being left alone. When confronted by Hisoka in regard to Suzu's disappearance, he was given a surprisingly mature answer from the boy. "It did make me sad, Ojiisan," Teruo explained in a rare moment of mental clarity, "but feeling sorry for myself is a waste of time."
That was all he would ever say on the matter.
As Teruo got older, his headaches struck with less and less frequency; however, they will return rarely (once or twice a year), usually severe enough to leave him bedridden for a day or two. These headaches stunted his progress at the academy in spite of his brilliance, but nothing harmed him more than his difficulty focusing. Most of the teachers' lectures were lost on him had they proven to be more than a few minutes long, and because of his lack of natural physical strength, he had to work quite hard to apply the lessons in practice. He allowed none of this to discourage him, however, not once complaining about his plight and always working that much harder. Hisoka and Tsukiko both did their part in helping him study at home, finding unique methods to help the boy's unusual mind grasp the concepts.
No day was happier for Teru than the day he graduated the Academy. Thrilled to at least be gifted with his forehead protector and the title of genin, he knows he will find a way to use his genius for the good of his village, and for the team he is placed on, too.
