Hot...metal...pipe? Just what had... No..he was fairly sure he knew. Following Takeo-sama's gaze slightly, he saw a familiar, if disheveled, curtain of red-orange hair and another medic. So they had both been hurt. Because of him. Utsuro just shook his head slightly in response. He just...could not find words with which to speak right now.

"Hey, hey!" Takeo exclaimed anxiously. "Didn't I tell you it wasn't your fault? Well, I'm not entirely sure what happened with her, since I didn't get there til later... but I know it wasn't your fault. It wasn't even that Ichi fellow's, really, but it's not like I was really gonna admit that to his face, y'know? Or... your face while he was... jeeze, that's confusing!" he moaned, gave his head a good shake, and went right back to talking. "Anyways. It is what it is, and that's that. Except I'm not really sure what happened, at least up until the end, y'know?"

Hehehe..Utsuro wasn't sure if it was his condition or Takeo-sama's 'explanation' that was making his head spin more. Either way, it seemed things had gone astray yet again. Trouble had been caused, damage had been done, and once more he was accountable. "I...am..sorry....I...do not know...what to tell you...Forgive me.." He uttered quietly, unable to even look in the general direction of his..friend. And Ayaka-san too...what could he even say to her? He didn't even know what all had occurred...and honestly...he almost did not want to.

"Didn't I just tell you it's not your fault?" Takeo asked, beginning to feel more than a little vexed at the situation but - so far- successfully keeping the strain out of his voice. "But if it's really that important to you, sure, I forgive you. Still, you're not the one the apology needs to come from anyways, are you?" He sighed, then fell silent, watching the medic tend to his hand. It really did go a lot smoother when he wasn't running around all over the place. "So you really don't remember, huh?" Takeo asked after a moment's thought, though it was more of a rhetorical question than anything else. "Honestly, that's kind of a relief. Well, as far as I can tell you, stuff happened, and things got a little crazy, so we came here." No way on earth he was going to mention that Ichi fellow attacking the red-haired girl. That could just be their little secret, at least until they could be sure knowing the whole story wouldn't kill Tsutomegi. "Well, I guess I can kinda see how you'd think it's your fault," Takeo mused, "but really, is it even possible for you to control what that guy does? Anyways, if you want any more info about what else happened, you'll have to ask the girl. Seems like she was dealing with him for a while before I showed up."

Utsuro just shook his head at first. "I never remember..." He admitted quietly, not wanting to really discuss the matter so openly. While there was a feeling growing within him that Takeo-sama could be trusted, it was just...not something he could openly speak of. Some things were better left unsaid. And yet, something that had been said bothered him. Ayaka-san had dealt with him longer? He had hoped that she would have been able to get away safely....but that clearly had not been the case. He just could not imagine the trouble he was going to be in.. Just my luck..

"I see..." Takeo murmured thoughtfully, considering that for a moment before something else caught his attention. "Ah, thanks, Doc!" he said with a grin as the medic finally finished tending to his hand. The man just rolled his eyes and hurried off. Was it just Takeo, or did he seem far too glad to be leaving? But back to the matter at hand.... this just wasn't working. Takeo only had half the story, Tsutomegi didn't seem comfortable about discussing this particular subject, and the red-haired girl deserved to hear these explanations too. He also felt kind of bad for leaving her all by herself over there for so long. Perhaps he'd better go check in on her. "I'm gonna go check on the girl," he told Tsutomegi. "You just relax here, okay? Don't worry, all right? You're gonna be fine." It hadn't taken long for the medic tending to her to realize just how out of it Ayaka felt, and she was immediately instructed to lie down. That was a relief; her head was still spinning a little and she still felt slightly ill thanks to the 'jaunt' they'd taken to the tent. It felt good to lie down on the soft bed, propped up a little on a couple extra pillows. She was still staring in amazement at her arm, which now felt as though absolutely nothing had happened. Just what kind of place was the ninja world, for such things to be possible? "Hey there."Ayaka looked up, surprised to hear a familiar voice addressing her. Sure enough, it was the boy from earlier. And what was up with his eyes!? They were black again! She hadn't noticed before, having been busy with being picked up and carried. She just nodded in greeting. "Heh... don't feel like talking too much, eh?" She shook her head. "Well, can't blame you there. You all right? How's the arm?"Didn't he just say he couldn't blame her for not wanting to talk? And now he was asking her questions.... "Fine," she told him simply. "Doesn't hurt." "Ah, that's great!" he exclaimed, a genuine smile on his face. And was that.... relief? She was a complete stranger! Why was he worried about her? And for that matter, why had he jumped in to save her in the first place? "Ah..." she began nervously, "Why did you...?" "You looked like you could use a little help," he told her with a shrug as though it were the simplest thing in the world. He must have seen the look on her face, because he offered her yet another friendly grin. "Listen, don't worry about it," he told her. " Anyways, I think we three need to chat this out together if we're gonna figure out what on earth just happened. I'm all finished, so you just relax and focus on feeling better until you and Tsutomegi are cleared to leave, all right?" She just nodded, unsure what to think about a complete stranger caring so much for her, and he smiled again. "Good girl," he told her, gave her hand a little pat, and left. What... on earth was that all about? "Oi, good news, Tsutomegi!" Takeo told his friend happily, returning to his spot by the bed. "She's totally fine. Still a little loopy from the trip here, but I can't really blame her for that. Shunshin must feel really weird if you're not used to it."

Rather uncertain that anything would ever truly be 'all right' in his life, Utsuro merely nodded, just staring at the ceiling as Takeo-sama bustled off to speak with Ayaka-san. Even across the room, he could hear the vocal young man's conversation. It might have been a little harder to hear Ayaka-san had the tent been louder, but it wasn't as if he was intending to eavesdrop. So Ayaka-san had been attacked? Just what on earth had happened? Ichi-sama was troublesome, sure, but he was not one to pick on a helpless innocent civilian...Ayaka-san would have had to....but she didn't seem like the type to provoke anyone, much less him. And just how was he supposed to explain ANYTHING to the BOTH of them?! It was hard enough speaking to either of them on a one-to-one basis without feeling like an imposition on their time! He could only not and offer a faint "That is good..." when he returned.

"Isn't it?" Takeo asked, grinning broadly. "I was pretty worried, but she's been handling this pretty well for a civilian. How 'bout you? How're you hanging in there, huh?" Ayaka lay back on her comfortable bed, staring up at the tent's ceiling as she let her mind wander. Everything that had happened today.... everyone she had met here.... it was all just so unreal. It was at that moment that Ayaka came to a realization. Things like this seemed to be totally normal occurrences, judging from others' reactions to the events. And because of that... Apparently, here, there was no such thing as normal.

"I...will survive...as ever." He replied calmly, softly. He could not help but wonder if Ayaka-san hated him now. It would not be the first time something of this sort had happened, and most likely would not be the last. He certainly could not blame her, he hated himself right now. There was none to blame save him, he and his pathetic weakness. Were they still alive, he would no doubt be the laughing stock of his clan.

"Now there's the spirit!" Takeo exclaimed happily, noticing the look of sadness on Tsutomegi's face and finding himself even more determined to make it vanish. "You finally got here, right? So you just keep on keeping on and it'll all turn out okay. B'sides, you've got... er... Red over there and me with you now, so what's there to worry about?"

There was that enthusiasm again. Utsuro found himself wondering just how he did it. There really was no positive spin on the situation, so how he had managed to make one was..impressive. At least the tirade had given him one thing to say. "Her...name..is Ayaka..Takeo-sama.." He corrected quietly before continuing. "And...after.....this....I would...not blame you...for wanting to keep...your distance."

"Ayaka, huh?" Takeo mused. "Suits her, don'tcha think? What with that hair color and all... too bad you can't see her face, eh? As for the distance... well. You've obviously heard about my clan, right? So you may or may not know that we're fire users ourselves. And when your whole family's been connected to one element for so long, you're bound to understand it better than other people, right? So what's there to worry about?"

"Worrying is....what I do." Utsuro stated in that same monotone whisper. "I have lost...everyone...once already....I am..not keen on experiencing it again..."

Jeeze, man, Takeo reminded himself. Remember what this kid's been through. That said, though, Tsutomegi obviously wouldn't benefit from Takeo being all depressed. Misery loves company, after all, so he'd just have to make sure it had none. "Well," Takeo replied simply, "you don't have to. Not everyone's so keen to get away from you as you like to think they are. In case you haven't noticed, Ayaka-chan and I are still here, aren't we? Speaking of which... where'd all the medics go? I don't think they'd like it if I just up and dragged you out of here before they said you were okay to leave..."

"They...most likely have..more pressing matters...to attend to." Utsuro murmured quietly, but with the utmost sincerity. As often as he had been in and out of hospitals, and as much as he loathed them, he could not fault a medic for desiring a different patient. "Besides...clearly..we came here...because you and Ayaka-san were....hurt.." He continued flatly, trying not to let himself dwell on the reason of WHY they were hurt in the first place. "I am of...no consequence comparatively."
