"In a sense, I suppose that is correct." Pressing his fingertips together, he brought his chin to rest for a moment upon the thumbs. "It is..a bit more complicated than that. The messenger birds from earlier, for instance. First I wrote the messages, then reshaped that into the birds, and then animated them. That part is rather like a Bunshin, yes, but instead of behaving precisely as the object I've created, I instill sequences of commands to follow." "That is...the shortest explanation I can give...Without divulging cherished clan secrets, of course." He added with a wink. "There are other applications, of course. Like what you experienced with the sun-obstruction. For that, I made a quick sketch of the area, linked the sketch with the area via a dispersion of chakra throughout, and then evoked changes by adding to the sketch."

Jiro nodded, not sure he understood fully, but not really minding. He couldn't help but grin at Yuki, who - by the look on his face - was already pondering strategies that would benefit from such a system. Typical Yuki; he was always pondering strategic uses for some technique or object or another. Then something clicked in Jiro's mind. "Aah!" he exclaimed, snapping his fingers. "You were teammates with a Tensei, weren't you? I remember the guys from Crimson Phase mentioning you before. It was with Akane-sensei's brother, right?"

"That is correct. Those were..very interesting days." Ryuurei mused with a wry grin, thinking back to some of the hijinks they had once gotten into. "I've done work for Crimson Phase as well, actually. Such a lively bunch." " So what made rethink taking on a team?" Shichuumaru piped back up, obviously trying to distract himself from the impatience of waiting for his food. "Ahh...well. The other morning, I was working on a commission piece, when my tranquil landscape was rather suddenly interrupted by three boys trying to get their mutual friend down out of a tree." Lips curling into a smirk, he carried on. "Watching the three of them work together, I wanted to help, but simultaneously, I was curious to see if they could do it on their own. "After all was said and done, I kept thinking back on that morning the rest of the day, and I realized that it was something that was missing from my life presently. I want to see what the three of you can achieve together."

Yuki blinked. Did he seriously mean...? "Wait, so.." Jiro began before Yuki could allow his thoughts to form completely, "Because of a tree, and those boys working together...""It was the tree from today," Yuki guessed, remembering an incident that had been spoken of earlier, though he didn't phrase it as a question. "So Shichuumaru-kun, you were one of the boys Ryuurei-sensei saw?"

"Y-yeah." He answered with a nervous chuckle. " Ironically enough." Ryuurei grinned. "I was just heading to my assigned work zone for the day..And there's this real weird kid running along the rooftops like his life depended on it." Resting his arms on the table, he began relating the story. "He didn't have a headband, so I pulled him over. He starts going on about how his friend, a girl with red-orange hair of all things! And how she hadn't come back to the refugee tents the night before." He continued on, talking animatedly, even after to food arrived and words were alternated with mouthfuls. "And that's what happened."

Yuki listened to the story with interest, though he had trouble believing the entire thing despite knowing that Shichuumaru-kun wouldn't make it up. It seemed like he and this Ayaka person had a way of stirring up unusual events, however indirectly. "And that's the girl I used for my disguise?" Jiro asked, barely pausing to swallow his food. Yuki vaguely wondered what would happen were Ichiro here; he knew for a fact the Tensei didn't approve of such so-called 'manners'. "She seriously fell asleep in a tree and stayed there all night? That's kinda nuts. I wonder how she managed not to fall...""I'm just amazed at the whole thing," Yuki sighed. "Who would have thought something like that would ever happen? Though I guess this is the place for it to be possible..."

"It WAS pretty surreal. I mean I barely believe it and I was THERE!" Wolfing down some rice, a glass of juice vanished almost in the blink of an eye. "And that weird kid...what was it, Sensei? Tsutomegi? What an oddball. First he's charging to the scene like he's some kinda Saturday morning cartoon hero, and then he's dropping like a brick out of the tree! What's up with that?" " Gaaaaa~..." "Alright, alright! Here!" Rubbing his palms in a soft, circular motion, Shichuumaru plucked up the dimly glowing amber orb that resulted and held it out to his partner, who latched onto it and began gnawing with gusto, rocking gently on his back. "Mm." Setting down his cup of tea, the Jounin nodded. "Tsutomegi-kun, yes. Another refugee, apparently. At least he has a logical explanation for having met Ayaka-chan. "But I digress.."

Yuki sighed at his two teammates and the rate at which they were consuming food. Did they even have any time to taste it? And when had Jiro managed to acquire a second plate of dumplings!? Yuki wasn't even finished with his single serving! "Ah! Did we interrupt you, Sensei?" Yuki asked apologetically, since it seemed like there was more to be said.

"No, not at all." Replying lightly with a smile, he traced a fingertip along the rim of his cup. "The topic of conversation was just beginning to stray slightly, and I wanted to be certain you had no further inquiries....What IS that thing doing?" Arching an eyebrow, he peered down over the rim of his glasses at the..bug.

Yuki blinked down at the table, where Shichuumaru-kun's companion - Gabu? - was rocking back and forth, enjoying.... something. From Yuki's observations of Shichuumaru-kun giving the thing to him, it seemed to be made of chakra. And come to think of it, hadn't he mentioned feeding Gabu his chakra? Maybe this was how he did it. Regardless of how the object came into being or what it was made of, though, what Gabu was doing with it. "Isn't it obvious, Sensei?" Yuki asked. "He's eating. He should get something too, and - correct me if I'm wrong, Shichuumaru-kun - somehow I don't really think his kind would benefit from the food we humans eat."

"Heh, yeah! Thanks Yuki. And he's got a name, Sensei! It's Gabu." Nodding very matter-of-factly, he buried the hurt expression that was trying to well up. For someone who was supposed to be their Sensei, Hitsuatsu-san wasn't very well-versed in his students.. "And yes, he's eating. It's condensed chakra." Shichuumaru explained, shifting his focus to Sekimori-san for a moment. "It's not the ONLY thing they can eat, but it's getting to that point in our mutual evolution. Human food isn't good for much besides humans, really, but it'd be murder on the local ecosystem if these guys still got most of their nutrition from plant matter. "Even with just their current numbers, Konoha would be out of leaves in approximately 96 hours, and every plant within 5 miles wouldn't last a month."

"Eh? It'd seriously be gone that quick?" Jiro asked, a little wide-eyed. "Jeeze, I'm glad they eat chakra now. "And don't you know about the Kyousei, Sensei?" Jiro asked. His tone changed as he spoke, giving the impression that he was repeating back something he had memorized, though not necessarily verbatim. "Beetles like this little guy - " he offered Gabu a gentle, friendly poke; he'd always liked Gabu, and the reactions most girls had upon seeing him " - are really, really important for them. Shichuumaru and Gabu-kun are partners for life, y'know. Didn't you see how they worked together today? 'Course, except for a couple other things, that's pretty much all I know about the Kyousei, and I probably shouldn't be lecturing you in the first place since you're my Sensei and all..." Jiro blinked, suddenly confused, and wilted a little. Should he have spoken, or not...?

Grinning behind his cup as the other two boys leaped to 'defend' Kyousei-kun, that was exactly what Ryuurei wanted to see. This kind of camaraderie would be vital to the success of a team. "It's quite all right, Jiro-kun. I must admit, my own knowledge of other clans is only slightly greater than common public information, and I only had a chance to skim through your files yet." He explained smoothly, setting the cup down. "I do apologize if I've offended you..Shichuumaru..Gabu-kun. Still adjusting to this whole Sensei thing, after all."

It was with relief over not having upset a brand-new Sensei that Jiro tucked into his lunch once more. The food was great, and all that chaos over the ink people - and the beetle ride right before it - had really worked up an appetite. "Then it's a good thing you have me on your team, Sensei!" Jiro grinningly said between bites. "I got the same training my brother did, so I know at least a little bit about most of the clans. The ones that are big enough, anyways." It was common practice for young Tensei to learn about the other clans in the village, and even more so for potential heirs. Jiro's father had been head of the clan, which meant his brother Ichiro would take over after their Uncle Katsuro. That meant, of course, that if anything happened to Ichiro, Jiro would be the next candidate. It was something he tried not to think about very often. "Still..." he remarked with a sly grin that implied the friendly nature of what he was about to say. "Maybe you'd better not let Auntie Kaori know you didn't read those files, huh?"

"Yes, yes. I'll get to it soon, of course." The artist mused with a grin. "I felt it more pertinent to actually meet with my new team than pour over papers. I do enough of that in my normal work, after all." "And yes, I'm sure that will be useful information for you to have in the future, Jiro-kun. Just as Yuki and Shichuumaru-kun have their own talents and knowledge that will be beneficial to our team. "After all, I could not expect Shichuumaru to tell me the current hierarchies of the Hyuuga, Tensei, and Yanagawa clans, but just the same, I doubt I could trust you or Yuki to identify edible plants during extended stints in the wilderness."
