Let's pick up with our beloved team 8, shall we?
Vast green plains rolled ahead of Yamanaka Ino as she continued to trudge along with the rest of her team. Sweat beaded on her brow; they'd been travelling for almost a day and a half with barely any rest. The strain from the march was beginning to show on her teammate's faces, all accept...
"Ne, ne, One-chan, what's your favourite colour?" A cute voice chirped.
Ino looked down to her right hand, which was held tight by the cute little girl who'm they were escorting/protecting. Ever since their mission had began, the little girl had done nothing but talk.
"Um...purple, I think. Are you doing alright, Rieni?" Ino asked. The girl had introduced herself as Rieni Dehni when they left Konoha. A really weird name Ino thought.
"Eh? Mine is purple too! We've got so much in common!" The girl cheered happily.
Ino put up with her cute banter. It seemed she was really taken with Ino. She'd tried to suggest that Rieni walk with Chouji or maybe Kurenai (Shikamaru and Shino would be far too scary for such a cute little girl), but she insisted upon staying with Ino.
"Rieni...tell me about where you're from...your parents and stuff" Ino asked curiously. Anything seemed better than the fluffy conversation of favourite colours, clouds and why eggs are yucky.
"Where I live? Hmmmm...Oreh, it's a big city place with lots of tall tall buildings! I thought it was kinda scary...Mommy must have thought so too because she said that we had to move..."
"What's your Mom like? Is she nice?"
Rieni's face fell.
"My Mommy had to go away...these scary men took her away and said I had to live with my sister...but my sister is really nice! She told me to run away when our boat got really bumpy"
Ino was perplexed by the child's story, trying to interpret what could possibly have happened to this girl's parents.
"I really hope that my Mommy is alright..." Rieni said sadly.
"I-I'm sure she's alright. You're a strong little girl...I'm sure your mother is really strong as well" Ino said quickly.
"Really?" the girl asked, looking at Ino with wide, large eyes.
"Of course" Ino said reassuringly.
The girl grinned wide.
"Ne, ne, what's your sign? I'm a Leo! What are you One-chan?"
*********
Asuma looked back at his team, assessing the situation.
The girl seemed to be doing well with Ino. He remembered the Hokage's urgence in telling him that her safety was their number one priority.
"Oi, Asuma, what's wrong?" Kurenai asked as she walked beside him.
Kurenai had chosen to join his team. She was able to contact Abureme Shino on their way out of the village, bringing the number of shinobi up to six.
"Nothing...just wondering..."
"We're getting close to the border now...we'll have to ferry across the gap to the southern continent...after that, the Rebellion's contacts are said to meet us-"
Kurenai's sentance was cut short. A loud, humming noise filled the air.
"What the..." Asuma murmured.
Kurenai saw it first. Approaching close from the horizon was a figure on some sort of mount. It was approaching quickly.
"Asuma! East flank!" Kurenai shouted.
By the time she'd uttered the words, the figure was already on top of them!
Kurenai flinched. What speed! That thing must have been going incredibly fast! It was a speeder bike the rider had been on.
The figure lept off of the speeder. It whipped its black cloak aside, revealing a man with intricately woven horns along his head. His face a collage of red and black.

Thanks. I actually don't mean for so many cliffhangers...It's just that whenever I write lately, something always interupts me.
Okay, just some clarifications for those who are confused (like me...)
Rieni Dehni: rie=R, ni is the japanese two...you get where this is going...everybody's fav little trashcan droid's gotten an anime makeover.
The horned figure: I'm gonna do some character sketches before the day is done...maybe have them up for tuesday or something...
Think Darth Maul...only more...er, horny...
=_=;; doesn't matter what thread, I manage to turn it dirty...D'OH!

If you're reading this, it means that my computer hasn't crapped out on me completely. Sorry for my absence.
Due to computer crappiness, the promised images I said I'd have are a no go...file's didn't save and the originals are missing.
I just saw episode III today.
...woah...
In honor of that, I'm gonna update this story (right after season finale of CSI)
I'll probably update the Megatokyo fic as well...
so look forward! ^_^

Wasn't it tho? ;D Ah...Grissom, you so smarty.
Okay, more Star Wars/Naruto action in yo' face! Like a wookie on a baked ham dinner!
Keitaro's feet fell into the ground, the heel of his sandel squishing into wet plant matter.
"Ueeegh..." Keitaro moaned. His feet were completely soaked.
Both he and Kakashi had travelled a great distance, taking a different road than Asuma's team had (their missions being different). Now, the two jounins were truding through a swamp. Keitaro felt almost completely lost, not knowing where they were going or where on their map they were. He simply followed Kakashi-sensei.
"Kakashi-sensei..." Keitaro started.
"No. I told you before, if you're gonna complain through the whole trip, I'll leave you here!" Kakashi said quickly.
"It's not that..." Keitaro mumbled. "I was just wondering...if you knew where we are...how much further the road is..."
"We're almost there. We're making a stop for three days in an area nearby".
Keitaro wasn't sure if he had heard correctly. Three days?! he thought. He brushed away some insects as they swarmed his face.
"A-are you saying...we'll be in this swamp? I mean, we're stopping once we're out, right?"
Kakashi said nothing. He simply shook his head.
Keitaro sighed.
He mumbled under his breath: "If I'd have known my first mission as a Jounin would involve spending this long running, jumping, and now trudging through a bog...I would have opted to stay in Konoha...at least Ayame wouldn't be mad at me..."
"Oi, Keitaro. We're here".
Keitaro slowed his pace. He saw that Kakashi was now standing next to a small structure. A little hobble that didn't look big enough to even house a young child. Its shabby exterior was caked with mud and slime. Smoke wafted out of a little chimeny.
"T-this is it?!" Keitaro exclaimed loudly.
"Yeah...this is it" Kakashi said quietly. Keitaro saw Kakashi's eyes beaming, as if he thought this slimy mudhole was the most reveared place in the country.
"I have a bad feeling about this..." Keitaro sighed, not letting his bad mood be hidden. "It feels..."
"Feels like what?" a voice croaked from behind him.
Keitaro spun around quickly, leveling a kunai knife at the voice behind him.
Keitaro saw a small, green frog-like thing with pointy ears shielding it's face from his weapon. It was dressed in tattered grey robes. Keitaro smiled as he thought of the wittiest quip he could muster.
"...like we're being watched!" He said with satisfaction.
"Away with your weapon, I mean you no harm" The creature said in a croaking tone.
Keitaro felt his Kakashi's grasp on his arm, easing it downward to his side. He then crouched and smiled at the little green thing.
"Surimassen," Kakashi said slowly. "The boy is new...doesn't know his place"
"Too old is he...why you have brought him...figure out, I cannot".
Keitaro's mouth dropped open. He cringed.
Today had been just too crazy.

Nayo didn't spoil a terrible amount...but he had to be silenced in the name of all that was sworn to secrecy by the cast of Episode III.
...like how Samuel L. Jackson opted to kill the emperor with a 32'' magnum, screaming "Eat this motherf#^*!&%!"
...better wrap the whole story up quick before George Lucas's goons come after me.
Kurenai skidded backward along the grass, her feet digging painfully into the earth as she went. She had leapt away from their attacker to protect her subordinates and the girl under their protection. She raised a long kunai and shouted to them:
"Everyone! Form a protective circle around the girl! Protect her life at all cost!"
The genins snapped to attention and fufilled their order, moving around Rieni who looked scared and confused.
Kurenai's attention whiplashed back to her opponent. Their attacker had come almost out of nowhere, zooming down upon them on a speeder bike with incredible speed. The man stood, postured for attack; his dark cloak whipping in the wind. Through his drapped hood, three long, grey horns rose from his head. His face, a mass of black and red tattoo (or was that his face, Kurenai wondered) sneered at them with a look of utter contempt.
She looked over towards Asuma to find him poised for battle as well. His trademark bladed knuckles were out and coursing with chakra. It seemed he was on the same page as she was towards handling this enemy; doing it quickly.
Kurenai sped forward, her hands moving in a technique as she went.
"K-Kurenai, stop!" Asuma shouted.
Kurenai saw the roots and branches of her genjutsu begin to take hold of her opponent; his arms and legs restrained, compltely under her spell. I've only to finish him now! she thought as she raised her blade.
Suddenly, she felt hesitation.
Completely restrained and helpless, He was smiling.
Something fell out of the enemy's sleave. A brilliant flash of red light appeared and tore at her illusional tree, ripping and tearing at it in a terrible fashion. He was free.
"B-but how?!" Kurenai cried, awestruck.
The figure turned to her, the blade of angry red energy thrummed so loudly she could feel the pressure against her eardrums. In an instant the enemy was upon her!
No...
...
Kurenai waited, her eyes opening. She felt heavy...had she died? She saw the scene in front of her. Her vision filled with the crackling light of the enemy's weapon.
Another colour contrasted it. A vibrant blue.
Asuma stood in front of her. A similar weapon in his grasp, driving off the enemy.
*********
Shikamaru watched with baited breath. He saw Shino's sensei try to perform some kind of illusionary technique, but it was countered as the enemy drew some kind of energy sword. He'd charged Kurenai, and for a moment he thought she'd been killed...but Asuma charged out of nowhere, pushing him off with the same kind of weapon.
"Oi, Shikamaru-kun. Stay focussed at the task at hand. Do not lose focus"
He turned to see Shino beside him. He was right, this was no time for gaping, he had to stay alert and protect the girl.
His eyes darted from side to side, looking for any other attackers. He saw none.
The blinding light and deafening cracks and clashes of Asuma's and the figure's weapons were to hard not to look upon. He saw Asuma twirl with invisible speed, cutting the enemy in two.
Shikamaru waited, his teeth on edge. He knew that once an enemy had been struck down, your gaurd must immidiately come up. Kawarimi no jutsu and bunshin no jutsu were far too common and well used to be ignored. He waited and watched for the reappearence of their foe.
...
...nothing.
His shoulders slumped as he let out a deep sigh of relief.
"Ehhhh...today...is a very troublesome day..."
*********
Kurenai slowly stepped towards their enemy's body. Asuma was examining it closely.
"A-Asuma...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have rushed in like that...I-"
"Forget about it...your genjutsu would have been successful in any other scenario. You couldn't have been prepared for anything like this..."
Kurenai felt relieved. She looked over to see the face of her attacker...
and froze.
"W-What the hell is this?!"
Kurenai looked down and saw the face of a clean shaven young man...who looked entirely different.
"What happened to the one we were fighting? What does this mean?" she asked Asuma.
"This could only have been Shouten no jutsu*. Up until now...I thought it was only a myth" Asuma answered.
"Shouten no jutsu?! I don't understand...what's that?"
"*Imitation Shapeshifting technique. Much more than a henge. It involves spending a certain amount of your own chakra and infusing it into a host body...who then becomes an emulate, controlled by a user"
Asuma picked up the dead man's weapon, which rusted and crumbled as he lifted it.
"There's no doubt about it now..." Asuma said under his breath.
"Sensei!" Asuma heard Chouji shout. He turned to see his students making their way towards them.
Kurenai gave a serious glance to her partner.
"Y-You never told me you were capable of using a technique like the one you used just now...what are these swords?"
"They're lightsabers. The signature tool of the Jedi Knights. My father, Sarutobi, trained me in their art long ago"
"so this was a Jedi?" Kurenai asked.
Asuma sighed.
"No...as I said, there's no doubt about it now. We're confronting the Sith".
