Alright, please...disprove this. It'll help me sleep better at night.
I've been reviewing for my English exam when i got to George Orwell's 'Nineteen Eighty-Four'. A classic in my opinion.
Now, I started reviewing my notes, reading up on how Winston had never known a time when Oceania wasn't at war with Eurasia or Eastasia...or how if he tried to leave or voice an unpatriotic opinion, he could be "Va-poo-rized". Y'know, all that good stuff.
Later on, I watched the Konoha Sport's Special again with Nayo and some other peoples. I looked at the big 'ol map of the world and had a bizzare epiphany (yeah...I can't spell that word either)
There are some startling similarities between Orwell's dystopia and the good ol' Leaf Village we've come to love!
Example the 1st)
There's never been a time where Konoha hasn't been at war. Sure, there are brief moments of peace, but it seems like they're punctuated by conflict of one form or another. Also, allies and enemies are switched up on the fly all the time!
Konoha was once at war with the Sand, but at the drop of a hat, they're fighting the Hidden Grass with the Sand as their allies! This political flipflopping seems to reccur a fair amount.
Examplar numero duex)
Leaving the village is considered treason and can mark you as a Missing Nin if you are a part of Konoha's Shinobi force (much like the Outer Party members). Who's to say what happens to civillians. While it doesn't appear that any of their needs or wants are neglected, their freedoms are a wee bit tattered do to service.
Um...dat's all I've got at the moment...but I'll be back with more!
