Well, I couldn't find the original, or I woulda revived that, so here I am.
NASCAR season 2006 is off with a BANG! Denny Hamlin, a rookie, has won the Bud Pole Shootout! He's only the fifth person ever to do so. The Bud Shootout, for those of you who don't know, is an all-star race in which all drivers who won a pole (that is, the first starting position) the previous season participate. Shootout winners also win a lifetime invitation to participate. There's no reward as far as the points go, but the winner earns quite a tidy sum of money, as well as the badge of honor of having won. It's also the perfect opportunity to prove oneself, as Denny Hamlin proved tonight.
Carl Edwards got penalized three times for doing different stuff - that ended in his avoiding wrecks - what were the NASCAR officials thinking? Would they rather he put another 5 cars out of the race?
And super props to Tony Stewart - and Jimmie Johnson - who helped Denny win! It's awesome seeing experienced drivers step aside to help the younger guys get started. People like that seriously rock.
All in all, I'm glad Denny won, and I'm SUPER glad that NASCAR is back! Yaaaaaaay!
