I got Baten Kaitos for Christmas. I've been playing it a ton and I've gotten to Geldoblame. ;D Unfortunately I probably won't get to play it a lot now that school is starting up again....

Gah! Gomen! Sorry it took me sooo long to reply to you! Between going to Michigan for X-mas and school, I had to take pretty long break from posting, but to answer yer question (if it still applies)...
Baten Kaitos has a very unique and a very cool battle system.
It has a card based battle system that focuses on both offense and defense. As you progress through the game, you pick up tons of different cards. You use these cards to build a deck for each of your characters. You then use them in battle, choosing from tons of different combos. Each card has a number on it (like playing cards). You get special benefits for getting certain card combinations like in poker... sorta(such as 2/3 of a kind and runs and what not). FOr example, if you use three offensive cards of the same number, you'll do extra damage. The same goes for defensive cards. THis was also a pretty cool aspect of the game. You also have a chance to defend against attacks with defensive cards. If you choose yer cards right, you can completely negate damage done to you from attacks, but you have to be quick. Then you have special cards, item cards, and "supers" cards, all of which are kinda self explanatory.
Ummm... I think thats about it. Sorry again for the slow response. I hope this helps!
