Heh, I thought I might start one up under this, seeing as I've seen a little of it going on lately...especially at the flat. Well...this thread is dedicated to talking about board games, in all of their varieties. Some topic starters Monopoly Risk Trivial pursuit
These are some of my favourites. There is nothing better than having a cut-throat game of Monopoly with the likes of Mazz. Its a lot of fun I tell you. Well...I don't have too much to say. If anyone has come across any cool games, or don't know of any mentioned, this is what this thread is about.

I enjoy Monopoly ... sometimes. I feel like it lasts too long though. X__x We have Lord of the Rings monopoly at my house. XD Let's see... I like: Tripoly Channel Surfing Outburst (is that a board game?) Pachisi (I really can't spell it) Uno That's all I can really think of at the moment. And for the record, I hate Yahtzee. Really, really, really hate it.

Hehehe...someones playing Yahtzee right now, in the flat ^_^. Funny XD. Hmm...to be honest I haven't heard really of any of those...unless...by channel surfing...you're being sarcastic...but I don't think you are. I like uno too. Although I'd class that more as a card game. Well..its a step in the right direction XD. You'll have to explain the objectives of some of the above to me...

Actually Channel Surfing is a real game. It has a bunch of cards and a timer. You draw 12 cards and, while timed, flip through channels to find the things that are written on the cards. It's really interesting, although I suck 'cause I'm slow and half blind. XD
Tripoly is kinda like poker, but not really. I guess you'd consider it a card game, too....
For Outburst you team off and someone reads these cards. They give you a topic and you have to think of 10 things... like "Things You Do After School" and stuff. It's pretty fun. It was my favorite game to play at New Year's at my grandma's.
Pachisi is a typical "get around the board" game. Sorta like Sorry or Trouble... something else to that effect.
I also really like Pictionary, but I don't own it so I never get to play....

Haha, they should do anime pictionary at cons.
I used to play Monopoly with my Dad all the time. It was one of my favorite board games, and still is. Kiri's right though; sometimes it lasts WAY too long.
Currently my grandmother, aunt, and their friend (more like a family friend, really) are OBSESSED with scrabble. If I knew enough Japanese, I'd wanna play Japanese scrabble.
OOOH~! One of my favorite games of all time is a French card game called Mille Bornes (or something like that, it's been awhile so I don't remember how to spell it). SO FUN!!!

Oh wow. Thats very cool. I have to have a look into American games a bit more huh ^_^ Theres quite a few I don't know. But yes. Monopoly takes ages. As does risk. However should you have time its great. Like I said...nothing like a cutthroat game of Monopoly against Mazz ^_^

I've never found Monopoly to go on for a long time. That's because Sorien and I are usually giving up everything to knock the other player out -- we play uber-aggressive games. Our cut-throat games are deadly, especially with other people.
Sorien: "Heinz, I'll give you $300 for that property!" Maz: "I'll give you $200 to keep it." Sorien: "...I'll give you $400!" Maz: "I'll give you $350." Heinz:"Garg..."
Or... especially... Maz: "I'll spend all my money and mortgage all my properties to get three houses on each of my yellows, please." Glenn: "But if you land on one of my properties, you could get smashed..." Maz: "I DON'T CARE. GIVE ME POWER."
XD
It also depends if you play official rules or not. Like, putting $500 in the middle which you get when landing on Free Parking. Or by NOT playing the auction rule -- that one definitely adds to the time it takes to get through a game. And honestly, I hate playing without it. There's a REASON for it, which most people don't seem to understand, or like (also the other reason games seem to take so long is that people don't like the OFFICIAL rules so they use the other rules which make the game go on forever).
I hate games that involve dice. Dice and I have never been friends. I hate Yachtzee, Snakes and Ladders... you know. Anything that less requires skill and more the heart of the dice. Sure, Monopoly requires luck of the dice... but... it also requires decision making.
Card games are more my friend. Sometimes those are down to luck too... but most are based around skills of some sort. I like Speed. Speed is good. Mmm. Wahahaha.
I also like Jenga. That game is cool. Maybe it's just my lust for the destruction of an innocent wooden building, though... lol
EDIT: Might I add, I like Sorry. It likes me. Perhaps because you have cards instead of dice, but I always seem to win Sorry. Hmm....

board games aren't really my style. The name alone implies a somewhat negative state of mind.
Bored Games.
However, I have been known to enjoy a nice game of Monopoly now and then. I also really think I'd enjoy The Game of Life (I've never played).
Something about living a tiny, miniturized life where have a car from the get go, I can be a doctor or a lawyer, and then marry a nice pink coloured girl and have, like, seven kids.
Sounds like a blast!
I like more extravegent board games, like those cheesy murder mysteries that you can find in hobby shops or on the clearence table of some huge box store. Y'know, the kind where you all get a character, then somebody gets left out for the entire game cuz they find out that they start out as the murder victim. Then it's a whodunit as you randomly accuse your guests of being murderers, then try to put them under house arrest whilest you phone the cops. Meanwhile the house is on fire cuz the left out person has ODed on bloody ceasers and tonic, worn a lampshade on their head, then set fire to the cat.
Regular old barrel of fun that is ^^;;
Ooh, Quiga...er, Quiva, "weegie boards"
Those are a fantastic board game!
Push the little thing to convince your buddy that he's gonna croak, then run the risk of getting possessed by spirits from the beyond!
"Bunshinsaba, Bunshinsaba, yamate kudasai!"
Yes, board games...much fun.
Ooh, new and improved:
"Don't Wake Daddy...Or Else!"

Actually, one other board game I enjoy playing is Hero Quest. You know. Choose a character, roll the dice, run around, fight your way through orcs and goblins and Chaos Warriors and such, completing tasks and saving the world. It's really cool. It's up to four players (five players actually, since somebody has to play the bad guys), and as a youngin' I had lots of fun ripping up beasts with me and my mates, on birthday parties and things like that. It was great fun. XD

The Game of Life is fun. I'd always overspin the lil number wheel and send it flying. LOL.

To Mazz: Yes. I like that definition of Monopoly. That is SO our game ^_^. Yeah...thats the thing though...with the rules I've got, at home, sure they're archaic, but they DON'T have the auction rule in it. But yeah...*giggles* I love our games like that...they're fun.
To Kiel: Yes. The game of life is quite a fun game, I've got that. Its cool, and doesn't involve die/dice ^_^ Its a spinny wheel thing...so its still luck XD As for the mystery game, I racked my mind and came up with Cluedo as the name of it. Thats a cool game.
Mazz again: OMG!!! Yes! I've played that too. I was...the shapeshifter ^_^. Thats cool indeedy.
To Kaori: Silly girl! XD. I've done that a few times too. Couple of times I've led a happy life in that. ^_^

Kiel: It's Ouji, right? Or something.
Aw, man. I'm so behind on this post....
I like Scrabble, but I'm bad at it. Seriously bad.. for some reason.
Another fun card game is Egyptian Rat Killer... though I've also heard it called Egyptian Rat Screw... and a number of other things I can't recall. Meh.

Scrabble's okay. I hate it sometimes, though. Especially when you just get a whole lot of consonants and no vowels. Or like, a whole lot of 1 point letters. "Look at me, I can spell Ammeter!" That's a riveting 7 point word right there. Feel like I could conquer the world with that word. Oh wait... Sorien, did you just write ZIPPER, Z on a triple letter score AND manage to get a double word score while you were at it? Geez. That's over 70 points right there, darnit. Although... Kiri-sama! Kaori-sama! (and heck, Matsu Yamiko, if you're out there XD)... do you guys remember THIS... Battleship was alright. I used to play that a bit too. I used to cheat a bit, though... putting the cruiser pegs into A1 and A2 (the pegs are on the two middle points)... so that THREE parts of the ship were on the playing field, and one was on 'A0'. Lol.
