Wow. Catch-up sesh.
Poker's cool. I love it. It's just, mindless though. I mean, sure you have to decide what cards you're gonna toss off, but... I dunno... luck just seems to elude me.
Okay. Speak the truth. Who's gotten a Royal Flush before? My sister did once on a computer game, straight off the deal. Of... Spades I think? It was brilliant. The problem was she didn't know how to hold her cards, and the game doesn't automatically hold your cards if you have a good hand. So when she called, she tossed away her Royal Flush. Darnit.
I think I do have Scum/Presidents/Kings/Dai Hin Min on my computer. Four player, but it's great. It was on my old computer, but I found it before we formatted it and sent it to Jeff-kun. It's called Elysee if you guys're interested... or I can hook you up on IM perhaps, if you want.
Patience/Solitaire is okay. I've gotten into Spider Solitaire a bit, recently. Just as a quick game or two.
Never heard of Cash or Egyptian Rat-Slap though. o___O

I'll let K-Chan explain the Rat-game of many names.
I've never gotten a royal flush in poker... I never get good hands, it seems. XD

The only poker I've played is in those handheld cardgame things.
I FINALLY remembered how to play Egyptian Rat Killer (that's the name I was looking for, but I could only think of "Slap" and "Screw").......kind of. Basically you divide the cards amongst all the players. No one can look at their cards; they remain facedown. Everyone, going clockwise, puts down one card. When someone puts down a face card, or one of the same number of the previous card (I think there's a variation where you can do this with the card before the previous card as well), you have to slap the pile, then you get all the cards. If you slap when you're not supposed to, you have to add more cards to the pile (3, I think) and gameplay continues. If you lose all your cards, you lose.
That's pretty much it, though I can't really remember about some of the specifics.
Cash is played in even numbers only, because everyone is divided into teams of two people. Before the game, you consult with your partner and come up with a secret sign to perform - make it something discreet, like scratching your nose or tapping your cards with your hands. Then everyone sits in a circle, opposite their partners. Everyone gets four cards, and the rest are divided up into piles (though I forget how many cards are in a pile, I think it was 7 or something like that, with whatever's left over). The piles remain facedown, but you can look at your cards. The bottom card of the very last pile is shown to the players - this is known as, shockingly, "the bottom card". You'll see why in a minute.
The object of this game is to get "cash", or four cards of the same number/face. When you get "cash", you perform the sign to your partner. If he or she sees it, they call "Cash!" and the teammate has to show their cards. If someone's teammate calls Cash and the other teammate has Cash, that team gets a point and the deck is shuffled and re-dealt. If someone thinks someone from another team has Cash, they can call "Cut Cash!" If the person they called it on (you have to specify) does, in fact, have Cash, the team of the person who called it gets a point and the game is reset like when Cash is called. If both people on a team have Cash, either teammate can call "Double Cash!" for two points for their team. I've seen it played where someone called "Cut Double Cash!" but I'm not exactly sure about this one. Lol. If a person calls wrongly, their team loses the amount of points that a correct call would have been worth.
Once everyone is seated, everyone takes their seats. The first pile is turned faceup and tossed into the middle. Since everyone is trying to get 4 of a kind, what you do is swap cards - pick one up, set one down. Set one down, pick one up. When no one is switching anymore, the pile is declared "dead" and moved to the side. The next pile is thrown.
Reasoning behind "The Bottom Card": you will never ever get Cash with the Bottom Card, because someone will always have it before you do. If 7 is the bottom card, 7s are generally conisdered cards that aren't good to have. It's perfectly legal to ask what the bottom card is if you forget.
And that, my friends, is Cash.

That certainly a new game to me. It sounds very cool actually. Before I make further comment...Egyptian rat killer...I've always called it 'Snap'. But anyways. You did a pretty good description on Cash. So when does somebody win? Do you set a limit? Say...3 points or??? I'd like to be on Mazz's team with Cash though...hehehe....anyways. Good game.

When we played it at school it was always just at the end of class, so we went til the bell rang. XD Usually people ended up with points in the negative, but oh well. We never really kept track; it was just to pass the time. Especially at band competitions, because watching five hundred (ok so I'm exaggerating) perform back to back can get pretty boring unless they're uber-good, so Cash was played. I suppose you could set a limit, like 5 or so, if you wanted to.... it just depends on the circumstances and what you're trying to achieve through playing.

Yeah, that makes more sense actually. Setting a limit its good. I'll have to try that with the (fabled XD) group at some stage, when everyone seems bored, or some other reason.

I've just started getting into Euchre. That game is fun. It's relatively complex at first, but it's really great. I'd explain how to play it, but I gotta go... ... so I'll write it up next post, unless y'all know how to play it. I'd love to play that with the group (well, three others of them, since Euchre is a four-player game)... but I don't think Cajun could handle it.

The thing you were thinking of in Rat Killer is called a sandwich, K-chan. It's where you have like, a 7, then a 4, and then another 7. ;D
Man... now I want to play that game.
And I just thought of another game... although I don't know if it'd be considered a card game OR a board game... although cards are (vaguely) involved. It's called "Mafia." I used to play it a lot with my friends at school.
XD Anyway... if anyone is interested, maybe I'll explain it....

You should! And I remember the sandwiches now. We usually called them "slaps" because of the slap-rule.

Ah, Mafia.
Everyone is given a card--except one person, who serves as the narrator. The face cards (I can't remember which ones now) are like the detective and the doctor... I feel like I'm missing one, but I can't remember. So like King is the detective and Queen is the doctor.
The red cards are normal civilians, and the black cards are "mafia" members. The object of the game is to find all the mafia members without killing too many civilians. XD
In the beginning of every round, everyone closes their eyes except the mafia. They pick someone to kill. Then, the mafia close their eyes and the doctor and the detective open their eyes. The doctor picks someone to save, and the detective picks someone they think is the mafia. The narrator can shake their head yes or no to whether the person is the mafia or not.
Anyway. After that, everyone opens their eyes. The narrator makes up a story as to who died and how they died... unless the doctor got lucky and picked the right person, in which case they're still alive. After that, everyone deliberates until they pick two people to put on "trial." They give their "defense," and then everyone votes on who gets executed (aka kicked out of the round). Whoever gets executed has to show their card.
I've never been the mafia, and yet I always get killed. ;__;
Anyway, sometimes it's bad, because you kill off the doctor or the detective... XD Not good.
But yes. Fun game. ^_^
