The wagon bumped and rattled along the road from Konoha. The forest was still quite thick here, and as the group got farther away from Konoha and deeper into the wild, the road fell into deeper disrepair - compared to the smooth, broad road they had started on, at least. Tensei Kaori leaned back against a wall, idly tracing the designs on her yukata with a finger. Looking outside, she saw it was almost noon - she would have to call a quick stop for lunch soon.
"Nothing so far," Akina said, looking out the other window. "The ANBU saw something move awhile ago, but no one could find anything. It could have just been a wild animal...." Akina left the last part of that statement unsaid. Sure, it could have been a wild animal, but the ANBU wouldn't have gotten as worked up as they did over a fuzzy little bunny rabbit. Kaori didn't want to know who could hide their presence so effectively from Konoha's best.... and she hoped she wouldn't find out. "Anyways," Akina continued, "It looks like two squads was the right number. Shall we?"
"Sure," Kaori replied. "Two had to be the magic number. Any more would have been suspicious."
"And any less would have been too risky," Akina agreed. "Here you go."
"Thanks. Let's just hope whoever it is won't move against us. If they're good enough to hide from ANBU, we may have to mobilize the Jounin too. You first."
Akina grinned. "What about you? If they're connected to events in the village, this disguise would be pointless if you were seen. Four?""
"No. You're forgetting, Akina. A master of Aidoru no Jutsu has to have total control over Henge. It won't be difficult. Seven?"
"Nope." Akina laughed. "I wasn't talking about that. What if they recognize your fighting style? Henge would be useless then. Six?"
"Yes, here." Kaori stretched. "I can handle that. The hardest part will be not getting too excited and going all-out. The important part is keeping suspicion away. It's not unheard of for shinobi to disguise themselves as members of the group they're protecting, so as long as we keep the Genin and Chuunin from getting too excited and joining in, we should be okay. Two?"
"No. That is, if anything even happens. Hopefully no one will have to mobilize. Three?"
"No. Let's hope that's the case. But I felt it as soon as the ANBU spotted our unseen guest. Something isn't right here. Nine?"
"Yes, here you go. I feel it too, but we can't act too-" Akina was cut off by an ANBU poking his head in through the window of the wagon. "Hokage-sama!" he said. "The scouts have picked up evidence of shinobi nearby."
Kaori cursed. "How much do you know about them?"
"Not much," he told them. "From the footprints, we think it's a fairly large group; men and women. Multiple villages. Falls, Sand, Mist, Grass....and we haven't yet identified more than one from each village"
"Why would members of so many different villages be traveling together?" Akina wondered. "And one from each....."
"Could they be a missing nin group?" Kaori asked.
"Possibly." the ANBU shrugged. Suddenly his face changed. "....there was also evidence of a shinobi from Leaf." Kaori and Akina stared at the ANBU for a moment, exchanged a quick glance - This means trouble, it said - and looked back at the ANBU. It was obvious he didn't like it either. "For now," he continued, "the most important thing is to keep everyone safe. We've spread out around the caravan and are keeping a close watch."
Kaori nodded. "There are two people who might be able to help you," she told him. "An Inuzuka and a Hyuuga are traveling with us. Both Genin, both young, but both talented."
"They're in the wagon behind us," Akina told him. "But be careful, you know what its like to be a new Genin on your first major mission."
The ANBU nodded. "I'll see to that, then. I'll report as soon as we learn anything." He saluted and was gone.
"Well," Kaori sighed, "so much for nothing happening. Let's just hope it's not bad. It's your turn."
"Should I check on everyone?" Akina asked. Kaori looked at her expectantly. "Oh. Uhh.... six."
Kaori sighed and set her cards down on the floor as she leaned back against the wall.
"Go fish."

It was reaching noon hour, and Kohana was now walking with her brother and the rest of the squad. The wagon had become too hot and cramped for her taste, so she left.
Not too long ago, one of the ANBU in the other squad freaked out. She was unsure of why, but Aijou, Haruki, and Ryuji had become noticably fidgety and on edge since then. No one really said anything any more, as they were too busy concentrating on something else, that was obviously bothering them horribly. Soon, Haruki left the group to talk to the other squad, then ran towards the Hokage's wagon.
Poking his head into the wagon, he spoke up.
"Hokage-sama!" he said. "The scouts have picked up evidence of shinobi nearby."
Kaori cursed. "How much do you know about them?"
"Not much," he continued, "From the footprints, we think it's a fairly large group; men and women. Multiple villages. Falls, Sand, Mist, Grass....and we haven't yet identified more than one from each village"
"Why would members of so many different villages be traveling together?" Akina wondered. "And one from each....."
"Could they be a missing nin group?" Kaori asked.
"Possibly." the Haruki said, shrugging. And suddenly his face changed. "....there was also evidence of a shinobi from Leaf." Kaori and Akina stared at the ANBU for a moment before exchanging glances with each other and looked back at the ANBU. This meant trouble! It was obvious that Haruki didn't like it either.

Haruki nodded. "I'll see to that, then. I'll report as soon as we learn anything." He saluted and left, and headed back towards the wagon, and poked his head inside. "I'm looking for a Inuzuka and a Hyuuga."
Two genin looked at him.
"The Hokage requests your presence. Please follow me."

"I dunno, it's not as bad as this one... What did Sushi A say to Sushi B?"
The others in the carriage looked at him.
"WASABI!!!!"
Maz laughed, knowing the joke was so lame it was funny. To pass the time, the residents of the carriage decided to have a little joke telling contest, which on several occasions escalated to one great big laugh-fest. Suddenly, one of the ANBU -- who he'd seen on one or two occasions -- entered the wagon, and demanded to see Yaku and Masato.
"Alright, well, see you guys later, eh? Nice to meet y'all." He held out his arm, fist formed, to knock fists with them, as a sign of friendship.

"The Hokage requests your presence. Please follow me.". Sorien gave a look to his comrades, the stood up. "Ahh...guys...I'm coming too...if you guys are going then I'm coming too...we're a team yeah?" He said hoping for some reassurance from he team-mates, he then turned to Maz, and gave him a nod, before returning his eyes to the unknown ANBU member. "I don't mean to be insubordinate, but I'm coming too"

The ride seemed to be going on forever, Kirei was not looking forward to be heading back to the Sand village. All of my relatives are going to be there...I wonder what they'll think of me after all these years?
The wagon shook as it went over a pothole in the ground, which caused Kirei to come out of her deep thinking. As she looked over her shoulder she saw an ANBU come out from where the Hokage was to make an announcement to a Hyuuga and Inuzuka: "The Hokage requests your presence. Please follow me.".
As she heard this she smirked and thought to herself, Hmm...now what's this all about?

Masato halfheartedly listened to the banter in the wagon, noticing that Iro and Kohana had left, probably because it was a mite stuffy in the cramped compartment. Masato, however, decided to stay, to get to know his fellow Genin a bit better. He was in the process of wondering who the beautiful blonde Jounin really was, when an ANBU with hair that was an incredible shade of silver opened the door. "I'm looking for a Inuzuka and a Hyuuga." Masato looked up, as he was obviously being spoken to. "The Hokage requests your presence. Please follow me." Masato blinked once hard, as he wondered what was going on, as the ANBU was obviously slighty agitated. He was suprised, and happy, to hear Sorien demand to be included. He put in his two cents worth, chiming in, "He's right, ANBU-san, we are a team, and that's part of our village's central ideas, that teammates are precious and need to stick together." He stood up, gathered up his three swords, still wrapped in the cloth, and followed the ANBU.

As the wagon plodded along, Yaku had remained uncharacteristically quiet. Hiromi and he had earlier come upon this wagon party as they had flitted through the trees back in Konoha way back in the beginning of the trip, but the two had not simply been out having a walk. They had been returning from a place, a far journey, and he was worn out. So as he had settled in for the trip, leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest, his dark eyes had begun to close, although he still listened intently to those around him.
It was because of his sensitive hearing as well as sense of smell, his eyes slipped open as he noticed the ANBU step inside. And any sleep that might have fallen over him beforehand immedietly vanished as he heard that he and Masato were wanted. He was instantly excited as he heard the Hokage's name, but tried not to let it show too much...*tried*
"Really?" he asked, eyes bright as he instantly sat up, "Alright, what for? Right now? Ok let's go." he was speaking so quickly it would have been impossible to answer him, and as he glanced at Sorien he nodded, "Yeah, yeah, you too," he said, looking as though he'd trip if he tried to walk, he was that wiggly, "Ok, let's go, let's go." he said as he followed after, immedietly trying to quicken their pace, Hiromi looking just as peppy.

"Yeah, yeah, you too". "Sweet." After he stood up, he accompanied the ANBU to their new destination, he looked around, they were in the forest now. "So...do you guys have ANY idea why you have been summoned to the Hokage?"

"So... do you guys have ANY idea why you have been summoned to the Hokage?" "Uhh... not really? Only thing that sets me apart from any other genin, other than the fact that i'm a crummy ninja, is my Byakugan... and Yaku's an Inuzuka... so maybe... anyways, no I have no idea." He shrugged and continued to follow the ANBU.

"Byakugen...and a great sense of smell..." Sorien re-visited the idea. "Well...I guess there is no point in pondering...we'll be there soon enough. I just hope she lets me join in. We work well as a team I think...so. We'll see." He finished. The short journey between the previous carriage, seemed to take an eternity. Sorien exchanged frequent glances with his team-mates.

Nadameru was jolted awake from her nap as the wagon hit a rough spot. She blinked and rubbed an eye, wondering why Maz had just shouted the word "wasabi." And seemed to find it terribly funny.
"I'm looking for an Inuzuka and a Hyuuga."
Nada looked up, raising her eyebrows. That was the ANBU from before--Haruki. Attempting not to let herself get distracted, she quickly focused on his statement. Looking for the two genin, was he? Not just any genin, either.
"The Hokage requests your presence. Please follow me."
The Hokage!?
The jounin frowned as she watched the two exit the cart with the ANBU, Sorien tagging along. Something was amiss--and she was going to find out what.
Getting to her feet, she stretched. "Nice nap," she said to herself contentedly. Turning to the remaining genin, she smiled. "I'm going to go walk for a while. I'm too cramped in here. See you all later."
With a wave, she hopped out of the wagon and followed after the convoy headed for the Hokage's.

Haruki waited as two genin climbed out of the wagon to follow him, but he was surprised that another one followed them.
I don't mean to be insubordinate, but I'm coming too. The other genin said as he followed his teammates outside.
Haruki just sighed, and led them to the Hokage's wagon. Before speaking with the Hokage, he turned to the genin that had been tagging along. "I know you're their teammate, but you're going to have to hang back for a few minutes. It won't be long."
He then turned and poked his head into the wagon. "Hokage-sama...the two genin you sent for are here," he said as reached out to pull them into view. As he did, he noticed Nadameru coming towards them at a quickened pace.
She must be suspicious... Haruki thought as he presented the two genin to the Hokage.
~*~*~*~*~
Kohana was confused. Haruki had run off, and now Aijou and Ryuji were leaving, too.
"Kohana," Aijou began, grabbing his sister's shoulders and turning her around to look at her. "We have to on the look out. Don't worry...Nothing's wrong. We're just gonna be doing our job as ANBU. I'll come back in a little while."
Kohana nodded as she watched Aijou and Ryuji trot off to other parts of the caravan.
What's going on? she thought. Something's not right...

Iro walked behind the still cramped cart. It felt good to stretch his legs, especially when they were as long as his were. As he was walking along, he saw an ANBU rush from the hokage's cart back to the one where his team and the other genin currently were. Moments later he exited the cart, followed promptly by the Hyuuga... Masato was his name? He was also follow by the Inuzuka, and Maz's old teammate.
I wonder what this is all about..., Iro scratched his head, are they in some sort of trouble?
Not too long after the pack had left, so did his sensei. She seemed to have the same question as Iro, and looked as though she was going to get an answer.

"I know you're their teammate, but you're going to have to hang back for a few minutes. It won't be long." Sorien huffed on the inside with this. He didn't show it, even in the slightest though, for he knew he was lucky he got this far. He nodded, and waited as the other two went on inside. "If I'm left in the dark with this one...I'm gonna be SOOOO annoyed" He thought to himself. He sighed, and quickly grew bored. He warmed up, throwing punches into the air, without any noise, as not to draw attention to himself. "We're still undercover" He thought to himself. Jab-jab-jab-PUNCH.

OoC: I know you told me to go to bed, Glenn... but... I posted anyway. Nada slowed as she approached the wagon, content to wait a little while to find out what was going on. She noticed Haruki had told Sorien to wait outside. Making her way over to walk next to him, she gave him something of a wide berth as he was punching at the air. "Seems they're leaving us out, huh?" she commented, watching him with slightly amused interest.
