The leaf nin of genin rank closed his eyes for a second, then he opened them again, sweat came dripping from his brow, he was making some severe effort.
"I admire courage, but there's a fine line between courage and foolishness. What is your name?"
"My name," he said between breathing heavily, "is Yamanako Jin, Hokage-sama."
Jin felt weaker at the knees already, this was pushing it. But if he could time this right, The Genin would also pass out, and he could return to his body to recover.
(oooh you know, I thouhgt Anbu took care of that stuff too. eheheh *sweadrop*)
He slowly managed a weak grin. "It seems, you can use every hand you can get, I'd like to know your opinion soon Hokage-sama, I fear its time up for me now, but if you were to look me up in a day or two, perhaps you'll find a few surprises. - pleasent ones, I hope, quite unlike the gifts you've gotten recently."

The Yamanaka clan.... Suddenly it all made perfect sense. That was why the chakra sense had been so strange. She smiled at Jin - at his courage, and his willingness to work so hard to get up here to her. It was obvious he was straining to hold on to the jutsu for this long. She stood up from her desk and was almost instantaneously on one knee next to the young man, supporting him. She placed a cool hand on his forehead, checking his physical condition with diagnostic chakra. He was weakening - or rather, his host body was. "You should rest," she told him soothingly, then grinned. "You have talent. Perhaps one day your goal of joining the ANBU will be reached, but not if you don't take care of yourself. Should I get the chance, I think I would like to talk to you again, when you are occupying your own body."

The smile faded from the Genin's face, truth be told, it didn't fit him, it was too mischevious for his features, and along with the smile, a light behind the eyes slipped away as well. Soon all that was heard were the soft breathing of the young man.
Jin felt his head swim, his mind had more than enough, but he hadn't completed his self-sought mission, he failed to find out what happened. I have to train harder... Only then it will be as Hokage says, I WILL protect Konoha! -The darkness enveloped him with the soft comfort of returning to his own body.

The little boy stirred, one arm made to lift itself but it was too weak, "Omma," he said, before drifting into a world of dreams.

Nada worried momentarily that she would not be able to find the boy's house, but that fear dissipated upon reaching the Yamanaka clan's district. A man approached her almost immediately and confirmed that the boy was his son. He apologized for the trouble.
Nada smiled kindly as she adjusted the boy on her back. "It's nothing." The man asked her to help him out a bit more, and she consented. They walked a little while, Nada listening quietly as he explained his situation to her.
They reached their destination and Nadameru couldn't help but look around with a measure of admiration. It was an attractive area, well-kept. Her eyes strayed to the window, where she saw a young girl peeking out at them. She smiled. The face disappeared from the window.
Only a moment or two later the same girl opened the door, a look of terror or shock on her face... Nada was having a hard time distinguishing.
"Mine!" the man moved to comfort the girl quickly. Nada waited patiently as he pacified the child, then turned to her. "I'm sorry, I've been terribly rude, but would it be alright if I asked you to help, if only for a little while?"
"Of course," she responded. "I don't mind." She thought momentarily of her father, where he was and if he was alright. It was a foolish thought. Of course he was alright.
She was being led inside when she felt the little boy stir, trying to lift an arm. He murmured one word, "omma" before passing out again. This time, however, was more comforting. This time he had just fallen asleep.
"Where shall I put him?" she asked.

"His room is right here," replied the father, pointing to an open room, further down the hall. "Mine, come along, your brother is going to be alright, but he's going to have to rest."
His father smiled for the first time since that day. "He misses his mother, thats such a relief, I was afraid he'd hate her... Mine never knew her, but for Jin to lose her at such a tender age, I don't really know much about him, I don't know if that was how some children are, but Jin has been a mystery to me. I feel comforted now that I know he doesn't hate. He'll grow up into a fine ninja, I'm so proud of him sometimes, and Mine too, she's picked up an interest in school after Jin got attention after graduating on his report on theories of the Sharingan Bloodlimit...." the man flinched in mid-conversation, "I'm sorry I've been rambling on again, please, would you leave your name? My family is indebted to you, is there anything I can do for your troubles?"
Mine poked her head around her father's back, "arigato, you helped Jinchyuu ni- san!" she sang sweetly.
A boy named 'Revenge'? This was no ordinary Yamanaka Branch...
The father's eyes darkened, "shh, Mine, you know your brother doesn't like being called that." He turned back to Nada, "Oh dear, my manners again, my name is Shagetsu Yasashiku by the way". He bowed "please tell me your name, and if there is anything I can do to thank you?"

"His room is right here," the man replied to her question, pointing to an open room, further down the hall. She nodded and walked in that direction as he continued talking. The boy had lost his mother, it seemed.
She knew how he felt. Laying him down on the bed carefully, she brushed some blonde hair out of his face. She wondered how lonely the boy must feel, even having such a kind father and adorable sister.
Nada was jolted out of her thoughts as the man suddenly changed the subject.
"I'm sorry I've been rambling on again, please, would you leave your name? My family is indebted to you, is there anything I can do for your troubles?"
She was about to answer when Mine interrupted, poking her head out from behind her father. "Arigato, you helped Jinchyuu ni-san," she sang sweetly.
Jinchuu? Didn't that mean....
Nada smiled at the girl and nodded.
Mine's father's reaction was quite different. His eyes darkened and he reprimanded her, reminding her that Jin disliked being called that. Looking back to Nada, he apologized again, for the umpteenth time.
"Oh dear, my manners again, my name is Shagetsu Yasashiku by the way". He bowed. "Please tell me your name, and if there is anything I can do to thank you?"
Nada bowed in response. "My name is Homura Nadameru. Hajimemash-ite, Shagetsu-san." Straightening again, she looked down at Jin momentarily, then back to his father. "Don't worry about thanking me. After all, as a shinobi it's my duty... and my purpose to care for those in the village."

"Homura Nadameru, maybe its odd, but I see my son in you, he would have said the exact same thing, if he were in your position."
he led the female ninja to the entrance, there he instructed Mine to take care of her brother, to keep him hydrated and to let him rest. Then he closed the door and walked with Nada to the gates. "I have to return to my duties, I'm sure you also have your own things to do." he was about to leave in his own direction but he stopped and turned back to add his final thoughts. "I know somewhat of my son though, Homura-san, he will come looking for you one day, those who protect without a question find my son like a shadow on a sunny day. Just don't bring up anything we mentioned in there, he gets angry when topics like that are brought up, thats why I've been so afraid to even ask my son..... here, even if there was nothing I could have done for you, take this." Yasashiku pulled out a rolled black sash.
"It would even suit you, then again, maybe this may even be the strange path of destiny. This here, it is a sash his mother wore, very much like the one he carries. His memory of her is strong in this material, and you may be surprised, but that sash that my boy was wrapped in is also his greatest weapon. His mother once told me that a rage of love has no counterpart but sorrow, but sorrow one feeds the other, and they will eventually consume the bearer if no love could consolidate the soul. In this cloth, are all three, Jin's sorrow, his mother's rage, and our family's love. I belive that one day, Jin will fight with this cloth instead, but he is too young to understand that now. Would you do me one final favour and hold on to it? I've made too many mistakes in my life, and one of those was seperating myself from Jin - I can't ever forgive myself and give him this, but if anything happens to me, will you give it to him in my stead?... Please?"
Yasashiku knelt down, he cried the tears that only a father could, over a son moving further away from him. he quickly wiped away his tears with a backstroke of his sleeve, but continued to knel until Nada made her mind.

"Homura Nadameru, maybe its odd, but I see my son in you, he would have said the exact same thing, if he were in your position."
She thought about those words as he led her back outside. Perhaps so. She felt a strange link with the boy. Silently, Nada hoped she would be able to talk to him later. Maybe they would be able to understand each other.
The two stopped at the gate.
"I have to return to my duties, I'm sure you also have your own things to do."
Nadameru nodded and turned away when Yasashiku did. She paused, however, when the man changed his mind and turned back to her to speak again. She stared at him in silence as he spoke of Jin, how he would come looking for her one day. He cautioned her not to bring up anything she had been told by him.
"Here, even if there was nothing I could have done for you, take this." Nada raised her eyebrows when he pulled out a black sash. Her shock increased when he told her it had belonged to Jin's mother.
He wanted her to take something like that? How could she? She had no involvement with these people. Confusion settled in along with anguish as the man continued to speak, explaining his reasoning. Sadness filled her. He pleaded for her to take the sash and give it to his son if anything should happen to him.
He knelt down and cried, then. Nada stood there somewhat ackwardly, not knowing what to do. Looking pitously at the man, she knew very well there was no way she could refuse his request.
"I understand, Shagetsu-san." She gingerly took the sash from him. "I will care for it...." She traced the fabric with delicate fingers, her eyes dark with thought. "...and when the time comes, I will pass it on to your son and make sure he knows what a caring father he had."

In the end, Yasashiku could not prolong his duty any further, he wiped away the rain from his face. "You won't have to explain it to him, this may be an ordinary black sash, but it has chakra residue of his mother, he'll know her far better than I ever did simply by the touch of it, but I doubt that any other ninja may even be able to sense it."
He looked away from Nada and started to walk away. "He's a nice boy underneath, just don't let his attitude rub off on you. Sayonara Nadameru-san."

"Sayonara...." Nada watched the man walk off, then back down at the cloth she'd been given. Shaking her head, she took off for home. She would drop off the sash and then look for her father.
As she hurried down the street, however, she ran into an ANBU member, who informed her that Konoha was in an S-Rank state of alert and told her to return home. She told him she was jounin, and therefore perfectly qualified to be out.
The two conversed briefly. She asked about her father, but the ANBU had not seen him. They parted ways with Nada promising to make sure there were no civilians or low-ranked shinobi out of their homes.
Upon returning home, she put the sash in a safe place. Her father was standing in the doorway when she exited the room.
"Otousan!" she said. "I was looking--"
"What happened?" Taro interrupted, seeing her state. He hurried over. "Are you injured?"
"No, no," she responded quickly. "I was just near the hospital when it...." Nada trailed off. It was almost hard to believe that had really happened. "I... just a few cuts and bruises...."
Taro pulled her close and hugged her. "Thank goodness. I was so worried."
Nada blinked, then hugged him back before pulling away. "Well, you're not the only one," she said quietly. "I was worried about you, too."
Her father chuckled briefly, but soon grew serious. "Come. We must go see if there is anything needed for us to do."
Nada nodded in agreement and followed him outside without a word.

Meanwhile, back in Hokage's office, Maz commented on how it seemed there were so many in the village who wanted to prove their strength to Kaori... and that she must indeed hold a great deal of respect amongst the villagers if they're so willing to further spice up what was already an exciting, but grim, day.
Three explosions had gone off that day: one in the basement, which Maz had been in the centre of. There was a second one not too far off, which Maz had no idea about (which he would later find out would be the hospital). And the third one had gone off in the same room they all stood. In addition to all that, he saw the bodies of two foreign ninja lying dead on the ground when he first entered the room. And now, Hokage had declared an S-rank alert – the highest state of alert. No-one could go anywhere without permission and a heavy escort. People couldn't afford to break the rules at times like this... we all had to place our faith in Hokage. She was our leader, after all.
Even Kagemaru had broken the rules to see his son. I mean, sure, with your son at the site of one of the explosions, fear... adrenaline... all sorts of feelings take over.
Perhaps that was why. People were afraid now. People were angry... frightened. It felt like nothing was safe.
But deep down, Mazrakiel knew that following their leader would bring them to safety. Undying faith... and unquestionable loyalty. That was what would save them.
* * * * * * *
"Hokage-sama..." Kagemaru broke the silence, and the train of Maz's thoughts.
When he had her attention, he remarked – "Since the village is on S-rank alert, which means I'm stuck here... and also taking into account the state of the village at present... I am willing to offer my services for today. Whether you shall require them or not is up to you, but if there's anything you need... the Adarakis Family are here to assist."

Iro lay on his back on the top of the building. It had been quite a while since he had snuck up here. The clouds were lazily drifitng across the sky, passing in front of the sun. What was going on around here? People were still busily shuffling through the streets on their way home, lead by Anbu. I WILL find out whats going on here, I don't care how long I have to wait he thoguht to himself.
His stomach grumbled... "no matter how long..."

Aijou followed quickly after the other ANBU and watched as the villagers dispersed and went to their homes, locking their doors and shutting any drapes or blinds once they were inside.
"Go around and check to make sure everyone's inside," Aijou told Ryuji. "I'm going to go see if my family's all alright..."
Ryuji nodded and bounded off to tell Haruki and the several other ANBU to double check the streets for any wandering people.
Aijou ran to the front door of his family's house and knocked loudly. He stepped back and looked around, seeing a pair of bright purple eyes peaking through the blinds at him. He raised his mask a bit, to show the person who he was.
“Otousan! Okkasan! It's Aijou! It's Aijou!” he heard someone shout from inside. It was obviously Kohana. The sound of footsteps could be heard rushing towards the door. The lock clicked and the door flew open.
“Aijou!” his mother exclaimed, reaching out and pulling her son into a hug.
“What's going on?” his father asked, Kohana grasping his sleeve tightly.
Aijou, pulling out of his mother's hug, answered. “The Hokage has declared an S-Rank alert... You all need to stay inside.”
“The Hokage is alive!” his mother sighed in relief, clutching her hands over her chest, leaning back onto the wall. “That is such wonderful news!”
“I must be going,” Aijou said. “I have to report back to the Hokage. I just came by to see if you all were safe...” He smiled. “Remember, stay inside! No going outside no matter what!” He glanced at Kohana. “You hear that?”
Kohana giggled and nodded, letting her brother pull her into a tight bear-hug before ruffling her hair and setting out again.
“Sayonara!” he called over his shoulder as he began jogging down the street.
~*********~*********~
Aijou sprinted down through the streets, checking them for any villagers roaming around. Seems like everyone's inside... he thought.
Suddenly, Ryuji and Haruki appeared next to him. “Everyone's inside,” Haruki said calmly. “Ready to report to Hokage-sama!” Ryuji added.
Aijou nodded and the three of them headed towards the Hokage's office to report.
When they arrived, the young man was still there, but someone else had shown up. His father, most likely, judging from the resemblance. But when did he get there? How did he get past the guards? Probably the same technique his son used on the balcony the day of the inauguration... But no matter, they both were safe in the Hokage's office.
“Hokage-sama,” Aijou began, “The streets are cleared. The villagers are all in their homes...”

Silver eyes narrowed through leaves of a tree at the smoke and debris still rising in the distance. Yamiko was perched on a tree branch, red bangs falling against his eyes as he watched. Another explosion...it was all too familiar. Wasn't this sort of thing supposed to be over with?
A light rattling distracted him. He reached down to grab the white cloth around his right wrist and tighten it. He had to keep the bracelets quiet. He shivered suddenly at the feeling of death. The branches around him shifted and a shadow moved just next to him. Slowly turning he caught the blank, souless dark gaze of a spirit. It motioned to him. A whispering ran past his ears, but Yamiko couldn't understand it. It motioned again.
Follow...
Follow?
Yamiko frowned. The spirit seemed to smile and then disappeared. The boy felt almost a tugging at his netted shirt as the wind picked up, his black braid swinging over his shoulder. Shifting the katana on his back, he built up his chakra and leapt to another tree and then down into the shadows, following the tugging....heading towards the ruined hospital.
