As they continued to make their way through the streets towards Adarakis house, Maz questioned Aijou about what had just happened.
Aijou looked back at him, hesitated for a moment, then answered. "It was nothing to worry about. It was just a girl I've known since she was a baby. She can be somewhat of a troublemaker at times, so I should have know she'd try to sneak out!" He laughed, thinking about her incredbily lame excuse. Typical...

"Ah, right-o."
The rest of the journey was kept in silence. The only people out on the street were other Jounin and ANBU.
Finally they made their way to the gates outside the Adarakis house.
"Well, this is us. Thank you for the escort." Kagemaru said politely. He opened the gate, and together the two Adarakis made their way inside; safe from everything outside their home.

After having dropped Mazrakiel and his father off at their home, Aijou set off back towards the office, checking to see if Kohana was outside as he went.
Good, she wasn't... Maybe she got locked in her room or something... Aijou thought.
He arrived back at the office shortly and joined up with Ryuji and Haruki to look out for anything. "Guess who I found outside while I was escorting Maz and Kagemaru home?" Aijou questioned, looking over at his two other ANBU.
"Lemme guess... Kohana, right?" Haruki answered.
"Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!" Ryuji exclaimed, waving his arms in the air. "Of course it was Kohana! She's such a troublemaker...Looks like I taught her well..." he made a sniffling noise.
Aijou poked Ryuji in the arm. "What are you talking about?"
"So what kind of excuse did she use?"
"She said she was looking for her cat..." Aijou responded anoyingly. "Now can we please not talk about it anymore. We're getting distracted."
"But - " Ryuji frowned. "Ok, fine!" He stepped back to his position on the balcony and went back to keeping a lookout.
Night would soon be upon the Village of Konoha, and hopefully no one else would try to make another surprise attack.

Kaori stifled a yawn as she looked at the clock in her office. A quarter to one. She was used to staying up late, but this night just wasn't moving at a normal pace. It was an eternity just from one hour to the next. The office was full to nearly bursting. ANBU, the Konoha police, and representatives from the scouts throughout the village were all milling around, all clambering around to deliver their own reports to Hokage-sama first before going on about their work. Kaori sighed; it would never end. At least the ANBU guarding her office weren't putting up such a racket. She took out a small packet of some bluish white powder and mixed it with her water. All this noise was giving her a headache, and the foul taste of the medicine was a small price to pay to keep herself on task tonight.
"Quiet!" she said sharply when she put her glass down. The noise cut off almost at once. "If you can't do better than that, perhaps you're unworthy of the positions given to you." She could tell the whole group was rather taken aback. She was normally quite easygoing. Tonight, however, she meant business. "You, there!" She said, pointing to a scout who jumped back at her gaze. "What's the report from the perimeter?"
Finally, some time later, she had heard everything everyone had had to say and kicked them out of her office. Akina was gone; the two of them were taking turns running the office and working in the makeshift hospital specially set up for those affected by the attacks. She found herself humming the tune of a song she had sung during one of her more memorable missions as she took a moment on the balcony to clear her head. Surprisingly, there were still lights on in the village. She couldn't be sure, but she was willing to bet that those were the homes of Konoha's Jounin, and of the families of the shinobi currently on duty. She gazed out into the black night, wondering what secrets it was hiding from her.
One fifteen struck. It was time to head to the hospital.

Kaori stifled a yawn as the sun broke over the horizon. She and Akina had been working all night, and it was beginning to take its toll. Kaori could barely hold on to her self-cooling jutsu; it was all she could do to keep it regulated, even allowing perspiration to bead on her forehead in the early morning heat. She looked at the clock. Mazrakiel-kun would arrive soon, thanks to an ANBU who volunteered to go pick him up, and everyone would be working as hard as they could today. There was no time for sleep.
Rubbing her head, she mixed a reddish powder - an energy-boosting compoud - with her eternally full glass of water and took a long drink. If anything, the taste would be enough to wake anyone up - unless they ate wood chips with vinegar for fun on a regular basis. Just as she set the glass down, a new ANBU squad came to relieve her guards so they could get some sleep.
It was a new day, and a new beginning for many in Konoha Village.
