"It's hard for me to specify..."
Feeling had been restored in his arm, and it did hurt slightly, but the pain wasn't so unbearable now. Just like a waking limb.
"How... long until it completely heals? I'm... not out of commission am I? I mean... it's... just an arm..."
His left arm in a cast, there was little he could do. He was left-handed after all, and with his arm bandaged up the way it was, all co-ordination went flying out the window. He still wanted to help out, though... that was his job for today.
(OoC: LOL. Ten points to the person who can pick the reference and what it's to. I would've added more, but it seemed unnecessary and almost gives it away. XD)

Kaori shrugged. "I'd give it three to four weeks, maybe more if you strain it, maybe less if you're careful. But that's all I can do for now. Stay here for now, and cooperate with any investigation that may begin while I'm gone. Do not, under any circumstances, leave this building. Don't even leave this room if you don't absolutely have to. I'll be back when I'm back." Crossing the room, she stepped over to the bodies of the dead men, removed her hairsticks, and checked the poison levels: there wasn't much, but it would do in a pinch if she needed it. With that she twirled the sticks in her hands, twisted them into her hair, and gave them a small thrust to keep everything in place. That done, she set off to see to the second explosion site and any injuries that may have been taken.

Aijou watched as Kaori exited, noticing that she had replaced her hair sticks. Hmm... He thought. Would have been nice to have kept those there for the investigation... He shrugged and continued pacing around, approaching each of the remaining small blazes around the office, and putting them out individually with his Suiton - Koburi no Jutsu.*
Suddenly, feeling the presence of another's chakra, he whipped around and looked frantically about the room, trying to find the source. Then, he came across the young man still sitting in Kaori's desk chair. He fixed his eyes on him and began to step cautiously around the office, keeping a close eye on the boy.
Several flashes of bright, white-purple lightning flashed behind his mask and sparks jumped from his fingertips as he slowly circled the room, nervously drumming his fingers along the hilt of his katana. He stopped by the door and leaned against the frame, tapping the wall with the opposite hand.
Something felt strangely familiar about this young man. He'd definitely have to keep a close watch on him...Just in case...

"Do NOT under any circumstances leave this building. Don't even leave this room if you don't absolutely have to."
"Got it."
He watched her turn and retrieve her hair sticks before making her way out of the room. As she left, Maz slumped back in his seat, tilted his head back and thought to himself.
Great. So I'm not allowed to move he thought to himself. Just sit here until she gets back.
A man - dressed in ANBU apparel - made his way around the room, hand on his katana. Maz looked at him for a second, before nervously looking away. The ANBU was looking straight back at him, he felt.
Lightning crackled behind the mask; around the hands of the man. Ah, of the Water Element. I see, thought Mazrakiel to himself. He tried to keep his eyes away from the man; he didn't know him, and felt it was rude to stare back at him. So he quietly turned away.
But the ANBU kept looking, lightning flashing behind the mask. Was he trying to scare Maz?
The ANBU stopped and leaned against the doorframe, while keeping his eyes on Mazrakiel.
What?

What Kaori saw when she arrived at her destination made her sick. All her years as a shinobi, all the violence and bloodshed, simply hadn't prepared her for this. Maybe it was from a different perspective; maybe it was because she was now Hokage and it was given to her to protect the village that she saw things in a different light. But to attack a hospital...* * * * * The alarm didn't work. Great, just great, thought Akina as she punched the little metal door closed. It dented slightly under her fist. Apparently the line had been cut. Luckily, though, there was an emergency switch no one but a select few knew about, but she wasn't looking forward to going down there again - "there" being the basement she had just left. Well, no other choice, now is there? She sighed, straightened her forehead protector, and set off downstairs. There was still smoke and debris in the air from the explosion earlier when Akina arrived. A few ANBU were moving around farther inside, looking for the remains of an explosive device and any sort of trace of the bomber...or bombers. A few of the lightbulbs on the ceiling had been hastily replaced and the system wired together with tape, so that while there was light, the quick job left much to be desired. The lights flickered on and off constantly, casting an eerie glow about the hallway. It made the ANBU - already cast in shadow from the room's lack of proper lighting - look like phantoms, especially with those masks and the eyeholes that seemed to look in upon pools of darkness. Akina felt like shivering, but instead reached to open the door --- --- and the lights went out. Just like that. One moment they were there, and another moment they were gone. Akina thought she heard an echoing boom from far off, but it wasn't like the explosions from earlier. It sounded more like.... "Great! They blew up the transformers!" one of the ANBU said. "It must have been on a timed system," another said. "I got word that so far no one had been found.""Well, those things do blow," said a third, this one a female. "It could just be a freak coincidence.""Yeah, could be...""More importantly than that," Akina interrupted from the hallway, "why aren't the generators coming back on? Don't tell me..." "That's right," the first ANBU answered. "The generators got the worst of the blast. They're not coming up anytime soon. We may have to replace the entire system."Akina let out a muted scream of frustration, ripped open the concealed metal door, punched the button in, and slammed the door shut. At least now it would come on when the power was back. But in the meantime, there had to be another way of getting the message out of the alert... * * * * * Kaori paused between patients to look around and listen intently. Something wasn't right. Why aren't the sirens going off....?

Aijou, letting go of his katana and crossing his arms in front of him, walked slowly towards the boy sitting at the desk. He wandered up, and treaded cautiously around the desk, watching the boy, who was obviously growing rather uncomfortable.
Just as he circled behind the young man, with a quick, blinding flash, he disappeared. As quickly as he disappeared, he appeared again, this time, in front of the boy. The poor young man might have fallen over, if Aijou hadn't planted his hands firmly onto the arms of the chair.
Aijou leaned in ever-so-slightly. "Tell me...." he began a bright electrical glow eminating through the eyeholes of his mask, "Do you have any...special jutsu?"
Awaiting an answer, he became immensely frustrated and he jerked back. The alarm hadn't been set off yet. Why was it taking so long?
A brilliant white bolt of lighting burst from his fingertips, striking the floor on either side of him with a tremendous boom. Small flickers of lightning crackled across the floor where patches of water still remained from estinguishing the fires. Luckily, there were none near the young man...Or else he would have gotten quite a shock, and that would not have been a good thing.
All was quiet, now that he had let his frustration out. He turned to look at the boy again, who had not answered him yet.
"Are you gonna answer me, kid?" he asked, slightly aggravated. He made his way over to the balcony, and looked out, seeing a swarm of villagers frantically crowding together in panic.
This is not good! He thought. Why isn't the alarm going off?!
~**********~**********~
"Kohana! Where are you going?" her mother shouted, chasing after her, pulling on a jacket. They were both still dressed in their bed clothes.
Kohana, burst through the front door and stopped in the middle of the street. Villagers cames out of their houses, curious as to what had just happened. Some stayed and watched from their door, while others flew past her, some screaming, others nearly hyperventilating from panickng so much.
"What's going on?" she questioned, over and over again, turning in circles, trying to get someone's attention, but nobody answered. They were all too hysterical to reply.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her from bedind and pulled her into the house, slamming and locking the door behind them. It was her father. He had hurried home from work to see if everyone was safe.
"What happened?" her mother asked frantically.
Her father pulled them into the newly renovated living area and away from the front of the house. "There was an explosion...In the Hokage's office..." he responded drearily.
Her mother dropped to the sofa, covering her face with her hands. Kohana followed, wiping her eyes with her baggy sleeves.
"It's best if we stay inside from now on," he said, "Until everything has calmed down a bit..."
~*********~*********~
Aijou began to pace nervously, stopping periodically to listen out for the sound of the alarm...
...But nothing came...

The ANBU appeared suddenly in front of him and confronted him.
"Do you have any... special jutsu?"
Before Maz could answer, he turned away and seemed distracted by something else. How impatient. I mean, sure, the village was in uproar about the events that had just taken place, but...
* * * * * * *
In the meantime, another Adarakis had made his way to the base of the building. He looked out amongst the crowd for any sign of Maz, or Hokage, or anyone who had any idea of how his son was. Not seeing anyone who seemed to know, he looked up towards the balcony, where Kaori's office overlooked the village. He noticed, just a slight disturbance in the light – or really, of the shadow – in the room, as if... lightning... had struck. From so far down, it seemed so weak, and hard to notice for that matter – it wasn't the flash of light that alerted Kagemaru, but the absence of shadow for a split second, that caught his attention. He had to get in.
He saw an ANBU standing by the door to the building, most probably ordered with not letting anyone in. Hopefully they would make an exception for him... hopefully. He walked over to the ANBU, and after grabbing her attention, pleaded with her. "My son was in the building when those explosions went off.. his name's Mazrakiel. Is he alright? Where is he? Can I see him?"
* * * * * * *
A few seconds later, back in Hokage's Office, the ANBU had turned his attention back to the Adarakis, and angrily questioned him again. "Are you gonna answer me, kid?"
He may have been ANBU, but he sure wasn't acting very nice. Were all ANBU like this? It was as if he were challenging him... threatening him.
"Yeah... So what if I do?"
Without answering, the ANBU turned around and made his way to the balcony, pacing eagerly as if waiting for something.
Geez. Take a pill, man.
(OoC: No hard feelings, eh? Lol.)

Iro frantically listened for any familiar voices, anyone who might tell him what was going on. It was troublesome in the muddle of frantic villagers. calm down Iro thought to himself as villagers bumped into him just calm down, theres bound to be someone here who can tell you whats going on.
Suddenly, from among the voices, Iro singles out one.
"My son was in the building when those explosions went off.. his name's Mazrakiel. Is he alright? Where is he? Can I see him?"
Mazrakiel, he was that show off at the Ramen shop! That man must be his father. He should at least have some idea whats going on.
Iro pushed through the crowd, trying to single out the position where the voice came from. He was by the front door, trying to get into the building.
"Hey! Sir!" He said to the man at the door. "Could you please tell me whats going on?" He rubbed his temple. It's hard to concentrate with all these people.

"Yeah... So what if I do?" the young man answered.
Aijou appeared in front of the boy with a bright white flash. "HEY!" he shouted, pointing his finger at him. "This is NO time to be dodging questions! Answer me straight!"
Now Aijou was more nervous than angry, and it was becoming obvious in his voice how worried he was. The alarms hadn't gone off, and there was a crowd of innocent people accumulating in front of the building, when there was the possibility of another explosion or of something horrible happening.
Breathing deeply, Aijou awaited an answer. Thoughts flooded through his head as he tried to picture why this boy's chakra was so familiar...
Putting one hand on the desk and the other on his hip, Aijou leaned over towards the boy until he looked him straight in the eye. "...Well?"

Akina ran through the busy corridors of the Ninja Administration building. Forget looking dignified in front of everyone; she was on a mission and she needed to accomplish it. People were in danger here! Voices shouted at her wanting to know what was going on, but she ignored them - which only made them inquire even more. Being Kaori-sama's second in command did have its downside.
Finally, I'm here! She rushed into the office with a bang - quite literally. She caught the door as it bounced off the wall and came back at her....
....and froze just on the point of speaking. "What on earth is going on in here?" she demanded, slamming the door shut - it ricocheted off the doorframe and swung open again - and crossing the floor to the middle of the room. "No, wait, I don't want to know now. There are more important things at hand." She turned to Yanagawa. "Anbu-san," she said much more calmly than she felt, "we have a problem. The main wires to the alarm system have been cut, the secondary generators for this building were destroyed in the explosion, and the power is out. This entire section of the grid is down and we have no immediate means of getting it online again. You know what that means."

Aijou shot up straight when the door flew open and slammed loudly into the wall, bouncing back again. Akina walked to the middle of the room. "What on earth is going on here?" she questioned.
Aijou shot a glance back at the young man.
Akina continued. "No, wait, I don't want to know now. There are more important things at hand." She turned her attention to Aijou. "Anbu-san...we have a problem. The main wires to the alarm system have been cut, the secondary generators for this building were destroyed in the explosion, and the power is out. This entire section of the grid is down and we have no immediate means of getting it online again. You know what that means."
Aijou nodded and looked at the boy. "I'll be keeping an eye on you..." he said calmly as he began to walk around him. He then placed a strong hand on his shoulder and leaned over, whispering into his ear, "....Just like I was during the inauguration..."
And with that, he vanished.

So he knew about his presence at the inauguration. Maybe Maz hadn't fully mastered his technique after all. If only there was a way to...
...that didn't matter, though. There were bigger things at hand. He was to sit here, now, as Hokage had ordered. And that is what he would do.
He had a broken arm, an explosion had rocked the village into fear, and now he was under the eye of the ANBU. What a great first day at work.

Of all the nerve, of all the low-down, dirty, despicable things that could have been done today, this had to be the worst. Attacking the hospital! Those --- Akina would have scolded her to no end if she heard the word she used here --- If only I could.... No! I have to focus! I have to get this to Kiyoshi right away!
Kiyoshi.... he was the one person she could trust completely to come through for her now. But would she reach him in time?
When she entered her office she could tell something was wrong. Akina and Yanagawa were gone, the alarms still hadn't gone off, more villagers were concentrating around the building by the second, and there was Mazrakiel, still sitting in her desk and not looking particularly happy. Well, something obviously happened here while I was gone... Shaking her head, she reached over and into her desk for a pen and the scroll she had been writing in earlier. It was written entirely in code, in one that only two other people knew: and one of them was Kiyoshi. Designed for quick reading and secret communication when they had worked together as a team, it had been indespensable. The team had split up awhile ago, and was officially ended when the war began, but the code was still being put to good use, just like it would be now.
The message was already finished, so Kaori quickly added a brief note at the bottom explaining what had happened today in as much detail as she could afford, and ended it with a request:
I cannot write all of this in a note, not even in this fashion. We must speak in person immediately. Reply by the quickest means you have available.
She signed her name, added her calligraphy seal with the brush conveniently located on her desk, and blew on the ink to dry while reaching into the desk once again. A white paper with blue edges came out, as well as yellow and red paper bands and a smaller square of paper. She would have to hurry.
When all was done the scroll was rolled up, wrapped in the blue and white paper, the bands wrapped around the center and sealed, and the small paper containing written instructions tied on with a convenient bit of string.
"Mazrakiel," she said softly but urgently, "consider this your first job for me. Take this down to the communication center and deliver it directly to the shinobi in charge there. Do not give it to anyone else, even if you have to shove past in order to do it. When you deliver it, give my order to follow the instructions written on that white paper there exactly as written. When that's done, wait for them to send the message, take the written reciept, and return to my office. Leave the reciept on my desk and wait here for further orders. Is that understood?"

"Yes, Hokage-sama!"
His first job.
It had come suddenly, but there was no room for failure. Kaori made it sound mission critical... and it was, indeed.
No time for questions. Do as you're asked.
He was only a Genin, and it wasn't his business to know what the contents of the envelope held. Not once did it cross his mind to open it: he did exactly as he was told.
Shove past in order to do it...?...
With his good arm, he stood up, took the scroll from her and pocketed it. He walked into the middle of the room, before turning around to face Hokage. Maz knelt on one knee, and performed a single hand seal. His hand turned to a black, thick mist... followed by the rest of his body. Soon the shadow, shapeless form, known as Kagetokeru had taken over his body.
He opened his eyes: empty shells. A slight fog emanated from him and blanketed the floor of the room as he spoke his final words before making the journey.
"Be back soon."
With a thunderous clap, the dark shadow that knelt in the room cracked and dissipated into the fog that covered the floor. Then with a whoosh, the fog was completely sucked out of the room, as if some vacuum cleaner had sucked him away - out through the door.
* * * * * * *
The ANBU weren't very helpful. It was as if they were ordered not to talk about anything that was going on. For good reason, I guess. Every time Kagemaru spoke to them, he'd always get the same reply: "The situation is under control sir. Move along."
He muttered to himself. "Well, I hate to break the rules..."
He looked up at the building, and surveyed the situation (as well as numerous other rooftops) before retreating into a back alley where it was less crowded - and darker.
"Kagetokeru."
Now in his shadow form, he could carry out the plan. It wasn't particularly right to do this, so he had to be as discreet as possible. That was why he hadn't planned to go through the building: by the looks of things, it was full of ANBU, who would suspect him if they saw him. He had noticed one thing, however; shadows were cast, that allowed him to get up to the balcony where Hokage's Office was.
* * * * * * *
Maz had made it to the communication center. Once inside, he dissipated his shadow form and returned to his human form – much to the surprise of those inside. They hadn't noticed anything unusual enter the room... how did he get in here?
"I have a message to deliver!"
The director happened to be in the room. The second Maz turned into his human form, the shinobi in charge was quick to ask questions. "What is the meaning of this.... who are you?!"
"I am Mazrakiel, of the Adarakis Clan. Sorry for the quick entrance, but I'm here on behalf of Hokage!"
The director looked at him oddly, doubtfully... there may have been no time to question him, but he could've been ANYBODY; an assassin sent to take care of Konoha's communications perhaps. As short as time was, he needed proof that Maz was not an enemy spy.
"Are you the director of this facility?" Maz asked.
"Now hold on, young lad..."
Maz paused for a second.
"...how do I know you're not an enemy spy? We've heard stories about what's going on... prove you're not a spy."
In situations like this, the Konoha headband was not enough. The only proof he had that could be given in an instant, was his mission. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the scroll bearing Kaori's seal.
"This is my proof."
The man reached for the scroll, but Maz retracted his hand before the man could place his fingers on it. "Are you the director of this facility?"
"Yes. I am."
Maz sighed a sigh of relief, and handed the envelope to him. "My mission is to give this to you. Hokage wishes you to follow the instructions on the white paper exactly as written. She wants the receipt after it's sent."
The director didn't like taking orders from a Genin, but he was a messenger for Hokage, after all. Given the urgency of the situation, anything would do. "Very well."
* * * * * * *
Within no time at all, the message had been sent, and a receipt was written and thrust back into Maz's hands. "The message has been sent. You may leave."
"Thank you!" He took the receipt, placed it in his pocket, and exited in very much the same fashion he'd entered: Kagetokeru.
* * * * * * *
A black mist lurked once more. But this mist came not from the door... no... it came from the balcony. As Kagemaru traversed the shadows to reach the balcony, he could see Hokage in the office. Not wishing to be impolite (even though what he was doing wasn't strictly the most courteous thing to do), he called out to Kaori. "Hokage-sama!... it's Kagemaru, of the Adarakis Clan.... I'm... on the balcony... is Mazrakiel about? Is he okay?"

"The situation is under control sir. Move along." the Anbu at the door said to Maz's father. Without responding to Iro, the man turned around, nearlyrunning him down, and walked off into an ally. Iro went to follow, but by the time he had made it to the ally, it was void of life.
"How am I supposed to get answers when everyone I ask keeps avoiding me..." And you'd think it couldn't get any louder. I feel like my head is going to explode. "Just relax Iro..." he said quietly to himself. The alarms haven't gone off yet, so either the situation is under control, or its gotten much worse... "Ahhh... its impossible to think with everyone yelling like this. I have to find out whats going on!
