Kohana made her way down towards the building's basement, Maz following her. They soon reached the basement staircase. They were still together... So... Maybe they were both going to the same meeting.
"Are.. you coming to this meeting too?" Maz questioned of Kohana.
Kohana looked at him and nodded. "Yep yep!" she replied.

He breathed a slight sigh of relief. At least he wasn't going to be the only one there.
"Do you know what this thing's about, or who's going?"

Through the uneasy silence that blanketed the room, Iro could make out the sound of two voices coming from the hallway outside the meeting room.
Hey, that sounds like Maz and Kohana, I hope so. Maybe they'll have some idea whats going on. Either way, I'll feel a lot better with them here.

"Do you know what this thing's about, or who's going?"
Kohana shook her head in response to Maz's question. "Nope! No idea...The letter didn't really specify much..."

"Nah, it didn't really. I suppose it's all good." Their conversation echoed down the hall, to their destination.
The two continued to talk as they entered the room, pausing briefly to say hello. He especially acknowledged Hokage, who was the one who called them there in the first place. He turned to Iro and gave a quick nod.
"Yo', man."

Kohana entered the room after Maz. After greeting the Hokage, they then turned to their fellow teammate, Iro, who was there as well.
Kohana happily skipped over to him and gave him a big hug. "Gooooood morning, Iro!" she chimed. "Im glad to see you here!"

As the door opened and Kohana and Maz walked in, Iro let out an audible sigh of relief, blushing after he realized it.
Maz gave Iro a slight nod followed by "Yo man." Iro had to try and hide his smile, Maz sure had lightened up a lot since they first met, at least he know acknowledged him as more than blindy.
To his surprise, Kohana skipped happily up to him and gave him a hug. "Gooooood morning, Iro! Im glad to see you here!" she said as she released him from the hug.
Well, I'm really glad the two of them showed up, I thought I was gonna pass out from the amount of tension in the room, but apparently neither of them could feel it.
"Man am I glad to see you two here, I was starting to get really worried" Iro replied to the two. "Do either of you know what this is about?" he tried to whisper to them.

((OoC: All right, anyone else who wants to join, this thread is still open! But we can't dawdle any longer....By the way, my "mood music" for this thread is now "Survival Examination" from the second Naruto OST.))
Well, it looks like there's no point in delaying this any longer. It wasn't a pleasant thought. It had to be done, but Kaori didn't like involving this many people in what may end up being business between old "friends"....but any fewer, and people would definitely notice. Besides, this was a good opportunity for the village. Setting her folder down on the table, Kaori adjusted her hat - it had fallen low over her face - and cleared her throat.
"I suppose you all are wondering why I called you out so early in the morning," she began. Her voice held its usual musical tones, but there was nothing of the soft, gentle manner she usually had. She was all business today, and her voice cut through the tension in the room like a sword. "You are all aware of recent events. The war, as long and terrible as it was, has come to an end." She could hear a few people muttering about stating the obvious. Shooting a keen 'be quiet until I'm done' look at the offenders, she continued.
"You all know this, and you also know that without our allies, the Sand, we very well might not exist as a village today. We owe a large debt to them." More mutterings. Not many shinobi liked acknowledging that.
"You may not like it," she said with a slightly raised voice, talking right over everyone else, "but there it is. I mean to acknowledge that debt, and seal our long bond of friendship with the Sand. I leave tomorrow on a diplomatic mission to personally thank Kazekage-dono and the shinobi of the Sand for what they have done for us."
The room burst to life. Previously dead silent, it was now filled with the buzz of voices. Some stayed silent, seemingly understanding of what was going on, but some didn't like her course of action - or the short notice. She held up her hand in a motion for silence and waited for the gathered people to comply.
"Whether you like it or not doesn't matter here," she said once she had finished. "I am assigning you all a very important task: you are to accompany me to the Sand as part of a diplomatic entourage - but be warned: things may not go as smoothly as planned. For all shinobi attending, this will be classified as an S-rank mission. I am giving you all today off so you can ready yourselves. Prepare as best you can in the time allowed. We leave the village at an hour past dawn tomorrow. You are dismissed."
She picked up her folder and strode quickly towards the door, knowng full well that there would be some who would stay behind to ask questions. If they wanted to ask, they would have to catch her before she got to her office. There wasn't much time, and she couldn't afford to just sit around chatting all day.

Iro listened is silence as Hokage-sama finally revealed what all the mystery and secrecy was about. Most of it fairly obvious, although some in the room seemed to get quite flustered by the news. In fact it was all quite overwhelming. This would be Iro's first big mission, and the fact that it was an S-Rank... it was all somewhat overwhelming. Iro tried to take it all in...
As Hokage-sama finished her speech, she was quick to exit the room.
After she had exited the room, Iro turned to his two teammates, obviously quite overwhelmed and surprised, waiting for their response...

Kohana listened as the Hokage spoke. Finally the reason for them being summoned was revealed, and it was a bit of a shock. An S-Rank Mission... Not exactly what Kohana had expected, but she soon figured that it would be an exciting experience.
After the Hokage had spoken, and left the room quickly, Kohana looked at her two teammates, then looked around elsewhere, trying to think of something to say. The announcement seemed to have been quite overwhelming for a good deal of the people in the room.
"Uh..." she began. "Hmm... Cool... I guess... Heh-heh..." she let out a nervous chuckle and then shut her mouth in a hurry and looked at the floor, unsure of what else to say.

"Uh... Hmm... Cool... I guess... Heh-heh..." is all the once chipper Kohana said, followed by a nervous chuckle.
"Yah... I guess." is all Iro could think to reply with at the moment. "So what re you gonna do on your day off?" he asked her, trying to lighten the mood a bit again.

So what re you gonna do on your day off? Iro questioned.
Kohana looked at him. "Hmm... I don't know, really... Go to Ichiraku for a a nice big bowl or two of ramen... then maybe visit my brother if he's off work later... What are you plannin' on doin'?" she asked him with a smile.

"I dunno... my parents are gonna be working most of the day, so I really don't have much to do all day." Iro replied, "I'll probobly stop somewhere and get some food too."

"Hmm... that sounds cool! Maybe we should all meet up at Ichiraku for lunch later! What do ya say?" Kohana said cheerfully, then she looked over at Maz. "Hey! What do you think, Maz? Does that sound good?"

It was still kinda sinking in.
It wasn't too big a shock. But he'd be gone for a while, perhaps. There was still so much mystery behind everything. It seemed like there'd never be peace. But hopefully, this visit to the Sand Village was to be the beginning of a peaceful time. Now he was being sent on a real mission, with his new team-mates. They'd hardly worked together, apart from cooking at Nadameru Homura's house. Not only was this their first mission together, but it was an S-rank mission.
Maz was caught off-guard with a comment by his team-mates.
"Hey! What do you think, Maz? Does that sound good?"
"Maybe... I... might meet up with you guys later or something, maybe. I think I'd better go tell Father what's going on... if he's allowed to know."
...WAS he allowed to know? I mean, sure, Maz would have to explain his disappearance for what could be a few days. I mean, it was three days travel to Sunagakure in the first place. He'd be away for at least a week.
"Sorry guys, I'll... be right back..."
He raced after Hokage, calling out to her, asking if it was okay if his father knew what was going on...
