ooooh... Kisame... Seeing as how I'm in the process of making my very own Kisame/Itachi/Venus-Flay-Trap-Man costume I can help yah out. I'm making the whole thing myself... not buying a previously made cloak and modding it (like some people told me to do) What I'm doing for the cloak is as follows.
- First go out to a fabric store near you... find a good pattern that comes pretty close to the cloak. (one that will be easy to modify into your very own Akat cloak pattern) - Buy the needed fabric (I bought lossa red and black since I'm doing the two layers of it) Be sure to buy enough, you can always shorten it up (i needed a LOT being really tall and all) - If you plan on having a really stand-upish collar like I plan on, I'd reccomend buying some really stiff heat n' bond or the like. When you go to sew the two layers of the collar together, iron the heat n' bond on onto each layer. This should keep the collar up pretty good. (given its not too immensly tall) - As for the clouds, I'm planning on actually making the red parts from cloth, sewing them on by hand, and then doing the white outline in fabric paint.
Hopefully this helps... I'll try and keep you posted as I get more done.

hmmm... I was wondering... for Kisame, what would be the best thing to use for the skin coloring? For my picnic, since I dun have enough time to really experiment with a lot of stuff, I'm prolly just gonna use that halloween paint stuff... but for Otakon next year, and other Con's, I was wondering what would come out the best?

www.costumesgalore.com/costumesgalore/colorcak.cfmBen Nye Makeup is supposed to be top-of-the line stuff. It covers nicely and doesn't rub off on fabrics (or so I've heard; I've never used the stuff). Scroll down and you'll see a blue that should work for Kisame, and a gray (right above the blue but I don't like the name) that you could use for shadow effects. Or you could go to professional costume stores and get it there. Tranquility got her "Geisha" makeup for her Miho costume at House of Make Believe (I don't think it's a chain though so you probably don't have one), and it works great. If you can find people that work at these places and actually know what they're doing, they'll be really helpful. Just fly down here and I'll take you shopping. ^_~ And when you put it on, don't be afraid to overdo it. If it looks like enough in the mirror, it's too little for both the cameras and the stage. Gotta love the cosplay applications you learn in color guard. ^_~ Oh, and, congrats on graduating! *hands you a forehead protector* ^_~

Ooooh... cool. I'll hafta look into that. I'm hopin that what I have for right now will work okay for the picnic. So close to finishing my Akatsuki Cloak... all I have left is...
- Shorten the cloak (pattern I got was a long flowing cloak) - finish the lining (gotta finish sewing the red lining on) - sew on the collar (with the heat n' bond) - put on the clouds
yay for forehead protector!!! *snuggles*

Too much to do, too little time, not to mention I have another costume I'm obligated to finish first. ^^' hey, about how long total do you think it took you on average to make your costume, either on in prgoress or one that's finished, weapons and such not included.

Well my cloak is a pretty hefty project, lossa sewin to do. Kisame's sword took a LOOOOONG time to do just cuz I had to cut out all the scales, spraypaint em, and glue em on. I've prolly done bout a total of 15-16 hours on it so far. I've also seen some REALLY well done costumes that only took bout 1.5 hours to do. Good luck on Kiba, post pics of it in progress, and if yah need any help, I'd bne glad to help in any way I could! =^.^=
