Turning to Iro, she nodded. "Sure. Why don't you help Kohana finish up?"
Moving over to where Maz was working on the soup, she peered into the pot. She hoped the look that crossed her face wasn't too odd, but that was some bizarre looking miso. Blinking, she grabbed a nearby spoon and took a taste.
Choking, she put a hand to her mouth. It tasted almost as weird as it looked!
"Uh... well...." What was she supposed to say? She didn't want to hurt Maz's feelings, or worse, make him angry. Still....
"It... tastes...." She looked upward, searching for the words. "...interesting...."

Interesting. Yeah. He knew what that meant. Aieee, he thought to himself. Her choking wasn't a good thing. It didn't taste THAT bad, did it?
He suddenly blushed, and wondered if his attempt at cooking really did suck as bad as it looked like it did. He grabbed another spoon and tasted the miso for himself.
A chill suddenly shot through his spine; an awful bitter taste lingering on his tongue provoked a harsh, dramatic spitting of the contents into the sink. It was AWFUL.
"Yuck, that's disgusting." Maz sharply criticized his failed dish, cursing at himself inside.

"Yeah," Nada mumbled, agreeing with his description. It looked like she was going to have to criticize her students for the first time. What fun.
Sighing, she went to dump out the contents of the pot. "Maybe if you had worked together like I told you to, it would have turned out a little better."

Maz felt slightly offended. "Hey, I followed the recipe. I mean it's not like Iro leapt up to help me, after all. What was he gonna do? Read the recipe to me?" He began to feel slightly heated after making this comment. "Besides... too many chefs spoil the broth."

"Hey, I followed the recipe. I mean it's not like Iro leapt up to help me, after all. What was he gonna do? Read the recipe to me?"
Nada scowled at Maz, her temper flaring. Eyes flickering, she set the pot down on the counter and turned to face him, crossing her arms and pausing to calm down a little. She finally opened her mouth to speak, but he interrupted.
"Besides... too many chefs spoil the broth."
Any composure she might have obtained within the past few seconds was lost completely. Before she knew what she was saying, the words flooded out of her mouth. "Well, it looks to me like you didn't need any help spoiling it!"

Touche. Maz didn't know what to say back to that. He didn't pay any attention to what she was saying. "Tch... shut up... you don't know what you're talking about." Maz looked away, frustrated at his 'sensei'. What gave her the right? He tried...
Maz muttered quietly to himself - enough for her to hear it. "Like I have to listen to the rantings of some childish, rookie jounin."

She frowned, but she was beginning to calm down again. There wasn't much reason for her to get upset: this was typical Maz. She had known that much when she had gotten into this mess.
"You're right," she spoke evenly, her eyes focused on Maz. "I don't know for certain, but that's how it looked to me." Moving so that she was looking him in the eyes, her expression became firm.
"Furthermore, I don't care how you feel about it, Adarakis no Mazrakiel. I am your sensei, whether you like it or not. Hokage saw fit to put me in this position, and I suggest that you trust her judgement."
After a moment, she sighed. "Just try to calm down, alright? I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings. But being as I'm your sensei, I expected you to do as I told you. Don't take it so personally." Offering a smile, she nodded her head to the pot. "Want to try again?"

Kohana had been working diligently at the task she had been given, pretty much blocking out everything so she would have a better chance of not messing something up. But when Maz started up some squable about the miso he had been attempting to make, Kohana couldn't help but listen in.
"Hey, I followed the recipe. I mean it's not like Iro leapt up to help me, after all. What was he gonna do? Read the recipe to me? ...Besides... too many chefs spoil the broth." he retorted.
Kohana frowned. What a jerk! How could he make such a comment?!
"Tch... shut up... you don't know what you're talking about." he snapped at Nada-sensei.
How disrespectful! Kohana continued to think to herself, anger starting to build up inside of her.
"Like I have to listen to the rantings of some childish, rookie jounin."
THAT'S IT!!! I'm so TIRED of his whining! And with that final thought, she reached for the bowl of batter and scooped out a big handful. And with a quick, hard swing, she chucked the handful of batter at Maz. The big blob hit him smack dab in the ear and all over the side of his face. "Why don't you just shut up, Maz! Just because you don't know how to cook, doesn't mean that you have to let it out on everyone else! And Nada is your sensei! Have some respect, you JERK!"

He was too busy arguing with Nadameru to notice the batter flying straight at him. It hit him square in the side of the head, smearing all over his ear. He was quite shocked, and turned to see Kohana looking straight back at him.
"Why don't you just shut up, Maz! Just because you don't know how to cook, doesn't mean that you have to let it out on everyone else! And Nada is your sensei! Have some respect, you JERK!" Kohana yelled at him.
Maz retorted. "You shut up. I've been fair with you lot. Regardless of my attitude towards you all, I've gone along with working together with this team. I make a simple, harmless comment defending my HONEST mistake and you lot get all up and iffy about it!!" With that, he suddenly grabbed some of the batter from the side of his face, and flung it straight back at Kohana.
Things going sour in front of her eyes, Nadameru interrupted. "Just try to calm down, alright? I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings. But being as I'm your sensei, I expected you to do as I told you. Don't take it so personally."
"Personally? Personally?! No, of course not. Having a team-mate throw batter at me out of spite. No, don't take that personally." Maz rolled his eyes at his sensei.
Regardless, Nadameru tried to be kind to him. She was probably being more fair than Maz was. "Want to try again?" she spoke with a smile.
Maz heaved a sigh of anger... but he slowly calmed down. She was right. He didn't like the fact that she was younger than him - he almost felt threatened. But, she was right. She must've been able, if Hokage had chosen her; a point which only maddened him even more. He was still slightly aggrevated, but...
"Aieee... nah. Tell you what. Iro, you handle it. I break cooking, it would seem, hmm?" -- here he shot a slightly spiteful look back at Nadameru, but didn't mean too much by it -- "So you handle it. Gimme a buzz if you need some'n."
He shot another sharp, almost hateful look at Kohana. With that, Maz moved to the sink in an effort to tidy himself up.

I make a simple, harmless comment defending my HONEST mistake and you lot get all up and iffy about it!!" And with that comment, he wiped some of the batter from the side of his face, and flung it straight back at Kohana.
With a quick flip of her wrist, Kohana whipped her hand staight out towards Maz and a loud crackling noise ripped through the kitchen as a thin sheet of purple appeared in front of Kohana's out-turned palm. The batter hit it and sizzled for a moment as small veins of lightning slithered out from beneath where it had made contact. The now somewhat crisp batter then fell to the floor as the purple sheild vanished. She then turned and went back to frying the rest of the batter, paying no attention to what was going on now.
As Maz went to the sink to clean up some, Kohana noticed him as he shot a harsh glance at her. She glared back at him from the corner of her eye, and let a couple purple sparks leap from her eyes before she went back to what she was doing.

Lovely, Nadameru found herself thinking. And things seemed to be going so well, too....
Her heart seemed to sink somehow when Maz shot her a spiteful look.
She sighed and shook her head. Not much could be done except to try to finish the meal without any more fights breaking out. Turning to Iro, she crossed her arms. "Looks like you're on soup duty now, Iro...."

Lightning sparked gently behind her eyes. Only for a second... but out of the corner of his eye, he could see her: purple forks twisting, sizzling momentarily.
Maz knew he'd seen it before. Much like... the ANBU...
Heh, he thought to himself.
Still angry, but more passive than before, he went back to tidying himself up.

Iro smirked to himself, his back towards Maz, as Nada-sensei nearly vomitted on Maz's Miso. He was still dancing triumphantly in his mind when one scentence of the conversation cut through Iro's happiness like a blade.
"Hey, I followed the recipe. I mean it's not like Iro leapt up to help me, after all. What was he gonna do? Read the recipe to me?"
A large vein on Iro's forehead began to bulge, and he was clenchi ng his fists hard enough to turn his knuckles white.
c'mon Iro, just hold it together, you've gotten worse than that; besides, you certainly don't want to start a fight on your team mission, if Maz gets scolded, its all the better for me.
And sure enough, only moments later, Maz and Nada-sensei were completely consumed in a heated arguement. Iro listened with both awe and terror, not sure what exactly to do; honestly, he found the entire situation humorous beyond belief. It took every scrap of Iro's self-control to keep himself from both bursting with laughter, and socking Maz square on the jaw. Suddenly, it happened.
The usually happy chipper voice of Kohana burst through, "Why don't you just shut up, Maz! Just because you don't know how to cook, doesn't mean that you have to let it out on everyone else! And Nada is your sensei! Have some respect, you JERK!" and Iro could make out what seemed to be a clump of something Iro could only hope was batter go flying across the room and hit Maz right on the ear.
At this point, all the anger in Iro was completely gone, as if swept away by a flood. He could no longer stop himself from laughing audibly. While the entire room was at each others neck, Iro couldn't help but laugh. The entire thing was so completely pointless.
The arguement soon began to calm down as Nada-sensei showed one of the reasons why she was qualified to be a jounin, and took control of the situation. Keeping it from excalating into an all out brawl.
After things seemed to have calmed down, Nada-sensei turned to Iro, who was still wheezing, "Looks like you're on soup duty now, Iro...."
Iro turned around, wiping the trail of trickling tear from his face. Even though the situation seemed to have calmed down, Iro didn't need his eyes to tell him how tight the tension was. He could almost feel the heat and anger still emanating from all present. Deciding not to try and goad anyone any further he replied with a simple "Yes Nada-sensei." and began to get to work right away.
Well, lets see if I can do any better...

"Yes sensei," he said.
"Yes sensei,"! Not, "Oh, that's okay, I'll do it my way, sensei," or "Who are you to tell me what to do?"
Someone actually paying attention to her instructions almost felt strange to Nadameru. She silently thanked Iro and moved to help Kohana finish things. With the recent loss of batter, there was not much left to do.
"As soon as that miso is done we can head off for our picnic," she said calmly, as though none of the recent fiasco had ocurred.

"Hai, sensei", Iro responded.
Iro grabbed another packet, and started the water, making sure to keep it from boiling. After a few minutes, the water seemed ready. He finished up as the packet instructed, and after several minutes of awkward silence, the miso was ready.
"I think the Miso is ready to go" Iro called out to the group.
